@@BowenMa01 things were going so well up to about KM22.5, and then my legs turned in to noodles. Sub 4 goal slowly faded away, but I’m so dang happy to have still completed my first ever marathon despite the terrible cramping.
Over 5 minute PR?!? That's crazy and something to be insanely proud of! Cannot wait to see what this hard work and consistency leads you to for the full 26.2. Congrats on the PR!
Thanks so much!! I just took a Maurten100CAF about 15/20 mins before the start. I had another Spring Energy gel in my pocket for the race, but I didn't touch it. I'll cover all the other stuff in my breakdown! :)
I got up early to watch the live results. I predicted 1:15:40 no joke. Knew u would smash ur goals! Cause im going for 1:18-19 in a couple weeks and I couldn’t survive even one of ur workouts. Who says u can’t crack 2:40? Great job Eric!
This was an awesome hype vid for this race. Congrats dude. Chasing a sub 90min during a tune up race in October for myself. These vids keep my motivation high
Excellent!!! I ran a 1.17 - 24 years back then had to stop running. Now I’m 54 and running a half on Sunday. If I can manage a 1.45 I’ll be very happy. 1.15 is a smoking hot time bro 👍
congrats on this and all other recent successes! you seem to be progressing really quickly and sustainably post chicago 2022, do you think the mental barrier of sub 3 played a big bit in that? as you were aiming for that for so long, once you got past it everything seemed a lot easier? interesting to hear your thoughts. love all that your doing on this channel btw
I’m doing my first marathon in Berlin. Your videos have been exceptionally helpful in understanding what happens during a race, strategies to put in place and what to think about. Thank you so much for your efforts!
Truth. Current plan is to hit the half at 1:20:00-1:20:30 because that's clearly within range with my current fitness, and than I'll look to negative split the second half, mostly in the last 10K 🤘
Great performance, incredible! I predicted on your half in my comment PR 1:16:30 and you did it way below this year just 4 months after posting video what’s next! Congratulations.🎉 Ok new goal under 1:15 next time! 😁
This video is honestly awesome. Looks so cool and you absolutely crushed this race man!! 2:42 IS ON!!! Im running a marathon the same day as Chicago (Chester marathon in the UK) your series has really been keeping me motivated dude. Hope to go sub 3 very soon
Couldn’t agree more! I have Chester Marathon in my sights for 2024 (starting a sub-3 video diary next month) - good luck, and would be great to know how you find it @the_village_runner 😊
Congrats! Loved the edit and beign able to see how you progressed throughout the race. Felt the tension mounting on mile 11 and 12 and the effort on mile 13 to compensate for those last 2 miles. I'm curious, how high did your heart rate get in mile 13?
You definitely have sub 2:40 capabilities and could always take out the first part/half at 2:42 pace to see how you feel. Last year I did 2:46 but my half was only a 1:20 before working it down to a 1:16 this year. Except I’m 24 with no kids yet haha. What your doing is super impressive, great work!
Genuine question: It looks like you/he is hitting the lap button on his watch at each mile marker. I am curious why. Wouldn't you just have your watch giving you automatic 1 mile lap times? What is the benefit of hitting it manually? Maybe he typically has something else on the screen and is having to hit it for the pace to appear?
I might be wrong, but looks like you're sticking your butt a bit back (maybe due to not properly engaging your glutes?), 00:03:45 - her you can compare with proper form with the runner in front of you
I’m getting ready for Berlin, but your whole series training for Chicago has been hyping me up for the race. This vid was absolute 🔥. Thank you!
Incredible!! I hope you smash it in Berlin!!
@@flobergruns TY! Hope you crush your goal for Chicago too
how did you get on?

Incredible effort. Production quality and race footage second to none as well.
Isaac killed it! Thanks so much!!

How did the camera(s) keep up and get to all those places? Was there a bike?
Yup! Isaac was on a bike
Amazing, such a blessing to be a part of it all. Beautiful video!
You looked so damn fast and smooth running next to the music band! Congrats on that massive PB!! Btw, what was your nutrition during the race?

Yooooo. Huge PB. Congrats. At this rate of improvement you are gonna start to wim some half marathons soon! Keep it up!!!
Amazing music and timing. Such a concise and beautiful way to remember this day Eric.
Super impressive. 2:40 is in the bag; it’s just a matter of how far under you want to go.
I was just about to request a full race breakdown before I saw the very end, excited to watch that!
