A very sad day indeed. I'm a signal man myself who's box will be closing in the very near future. The loss of these boxes is almost criminal. I hope you have all been offered new jobs and best of luck for the future.
Tears my heart apart to see another tower closing. Ohio (USA) once had hundreds, if not over a thousand. Grew up as a kid bugging the operators at MN tower in Mt. Vernon. :(
Love the dets salute. Sorry to see your box go. I've met a few lever signallers, they're all great, the levers keep em happy

What a bloody shame.
Amazing thank you all
Many thanks for sharing this
Makes my heart go into pieces when there is the old fashion being taken out of use.

@rackellar That's very sad news to hear - I live only a few miles from there.
@Sidmouth34010 Wymondham South Junction in Norfolk. Earmarked for closure in 2012. Will be a very sad day when it comes.
And has it closed?
Could the clue be in the title?
Many thanks
Which Signal Box out of interest ?
What will happen with the equipment inside the Single Box?
sent to a heritage line if they need it, sent to a museum if they want it, or sent to be melted down if they have to
