    This is the best homestyle video I have seen about ironman during my journey to the same race. Thank you for putting this together! Love from Victoria.

    I'm doing my first Iroman 70.3 In September. I feel your pain regarding the swimming, my freestyle needs some serious work. I've watched alot of videos on how to approach a 70.3 and this was by far the most simple and down to earth video I've watched 👌

    I hadn't realised the extent of training, the diet and software used. Makes me want to do one but need to research whether I'd get it done in the hours required as my running is slow, also swimming I am slow. Maybe there is one out there for my age group. Julie

    I have 12 weeks until my race, and I feel your frustration with the swim. I’ve seen some progress, but I get so angry with how shit I am. Longest swim so far was 1800 m so far, but my pool is only 11.3 yards so it’s difficult to get into a rhythm. Headed out to a 50m pool today to really see my abilities.

    • @sam.noster
      @sam.noster  7 місяців тому

      Yes it is frustrating! It is the biggest ‘skill’ component within the 3 modes therefore it’s simply the hardest! Key is to put yourself in the right environment to learn and become conditioned to race situations (e.g. swim long pools/open water). 11.3 yards is nothing as you prob push off the wall 3-4y every turn as well! Just go slow, stay long and strong in the water, and try enjoy the calming environment! I recommend a lesson or 3 as well :) Good luck and thanks for watching!

    Hello i noticed you didn’t have an aero bar for the bike ride and wanted to ask how that went and if you’d opt for one next time. Is it necessary?

    • @sam.noster
      @sam.noster  11 місяців тому +2

      Hi! No need for an aero bar unless you want to keep up the main group IMO! (Or trying for your best PR time). I had a great 3 hour bike ride on my gravel bike (not even a road) and was fast enough without having to dish out an extra few hundred dollars. Many others didn’t worry about it either and finished just fine :) Thanks for watching!!!

    Great job! What clicked with swimming to make that big jump a few weeks before?

    • @sam.noster

      I had a 1 on 1 session with a tri coach and he got me swimming as slow as I possibly could. This taught me that I could still float even if I was snail pace. A big game changer for my confidence!

    Hey Sam, great video thank you for sharing. I am going through the same training as you already did. I also signed up for my first ironman 70.3 in Victoria. I am terrible at swimming and just hope I will survive that section. I was wondering how much of a difference did the wetsuit make in the race? Thanks.

    • @sam.noster
      @sam.noster  10 місяців тому

      Hey there! Wetsuit for sure made a difference! It’s like a pull buoy at all times! The 3-4 open water sessions prior to with the beginner open water group gave me heaps of confidence! Good luck!

    what kind of bike did you use? and mechanical components?

    • @sam.noster
      @sam.noster  Місяць тому

      I used my gravel bike. Brodie Elan Vital: www.brodiebicycles.com/elan-vital
      The bike was great and was my favourite part of the race. I put 28mm tires on it vs the wider gravel ones it came with. Extra speed, less friction etc. Cheaper than buying a road or tri bike (which you don’t need unless you want the best time).
