INDIANA WANTS ME--R. DEAN TAYLOR (NEW ENHANCED VERSION) 1970
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 лют 2020
- I posted up an enhanced version of this song about 6 years ago and I listened to it the other day and it's a train wreck so I deleted it and replaced it with a whole new enhanced version from scratch. I've gotten close to the sound I would have liked the original to have had.
The trick I used to get the sound for this recording was to use an acoustic guitar in the key of G on the left channel and an acoustic guitar in the key of A on the right channel for the rhythm track which was monophonic in the original. I reproduced sections from an earlier backtrack session for the keyboard parts.
The improvements made here are quite noticeable
Hope you like it!
This is great an enhanced version of this song 🎵. This song was hitting the charts in mid August of 1970. Here in Corpus Christi, Texas the city was recovering from the devastating of Hurricane Celia category 3. Within 3 weeks the town was up and running despite there was damage. That didn’t stop ✋ the schools from opening up. This was being played on the radio 📻 it’s a great song 👍. I was in Junior High School in 1970 and Corpus Christi, Texas recovered quickly from the devastation. Even though this song 🎶 is an enhancement, Who’s still listening 👂 on 4/28/2024? This is a great 👍 song I’m 68 years old and only listen to good music. It’s sad that R Dean Taylor isn’t around but this song will always live on!!!
Absolutely love the enhancement !
Rest in Peace R.Dean Taylor 🙏🏼🎼🕊️🎶🙏🏼
I love it when Motown cuts a country tune. Absolute Genius.
Rest In Peace R. Dean Taylor. Still a great song after all these years.
Truly a forgotten oldie. Quite a few stations either edited the sirens, or didn’t play it for fear listeners were going to be pulled over!
and the gun shots too
LoL did they have speakers that good back then? 🤣 I was there but remember staticy am radio. Song was still great though
51 years later and still I remember... Running away with Susan Dey 💓💞💓
No, that was me... I still have photos of her. LOL
This song has never sounded this good! Thank you.
Powerful and tragic tune. If memory serves, R. Dean Taylor was a white dude who recorded on the Motown label. Thanks, Ken. Even more haunting now than when I first heard it half a century ago...
Susan Dey and I ran away from home listening to this song in the early 1970s... But I had to go back home because I was only 13.
Lyrics:
Mmm mmm
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
I wish I had you to talk to
If a man ever needed dying he did
No one had a right to say what he said about you
And it’s so cold and lonely here without you
Out there the law’s a-comin’
I’m gettin’ so tired of running
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
I wish I had you to talk to
It hurts to see the man that I’ve become
And to know I’ll never see the morning sunshine on the land
I’ll never see your smiling face or touch your hand
If just once more I could see
You, our home and our little baby
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there, ah
I wish I had you to talk to
I hope this letter finds it’s way to you
Forgive me love for the shame I’ve put you through and all the tears
Hang on love to the memories of those happy years
Red lights are flashing around me
“Get out” it looks like they found me
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
I wish I had you to talk to
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
“This is the police. You are surrounded.
Give yourself up.”
Indiana wants me, Lord I can’t go back there
“This is the police. You are surrounded.
Give yourself up.”
This is the police. You are surrounded. Give yourself up. Thanks for making a cool song cooler.
I've always found this song strangely moving.
Me too- it's excellent and brings back the 60's-70's...
Very clearly...

Outstanding work on a great song! You...You...You got a gift, my friend. You got a gift.
I wanna add somthing Kenn, thank you for running the fade as long as possible. I hate when other people try and do this and they chop of the end of the song. Drives me nuts.

Love It Kenn , Thanks For Posting My Dear Friend !
Great work, Kenn!! Sound is so clear and well defined. The Engineering on these songs are just awesome. Thank You
Glad you liked it. I heard from some people who have 5-7 surround sound systems hear them in a whole new dimension and others playing these version through $10-20,000 dollar stereo systems at 500 watts is a real music explosion! Kenn
Love it! What a song.
Excellent sound track. Thought of this song the other day, and remembered my high school days when it came out. Glad you posted the exact year. Good tune. Thanks for the memories. :)
Wow sounds excellent Kenn great work I know this takes alot of time and hours to do this
Great old music 🎶🎵
Kenn very well done.
Thanx.
very moving
Another good one! Thanks, Kenn!
I'd a kept out the sirens and bullets. I remember listening to it back then and thought the same thing.
This is brilliant - breathes new life into what is a great song. Great job!
As Always,, Well Done Sir..
Thank You..!
this is our country...love has no bounds
He also did a song called Ghost in My House which is a GREAT song, but it went nowhere.Check it out.In the words of Eric Burdon, "It will be worth it."
Just found it. Thanks for the tip!
It was a hit twice here in the UK.
One of my favorites in 1970
Kenn again did a great job
Sounds GREAT, better than the other one from 6 years ago, well done
It's takes a lot of practice to get a system down that works for almost every song which is why all the new ones have a much better sound. It takes critical multitracking and mixing to get it right. Kenn
@@cinematic35 Your version from six years ago was so much better than the original that I had on the album. The album was in stereo but the only "stereo" was at the end when the siren and shots rang out. As much as I loved your previous enhancement, I must say you took it to another level. Fantastic job!!
That was better than your previous - such a talent, Kenn! Always loved this song.
RIP Vicky White
I always loved this song. I play acoustic guitar myself, and play this. But i never heard the version with the gunshots before. This gives me goose bumps, makes me feel bad for the guy.
Bravo!!!!!!
It's hard to believe R Dean Taylor was a Motown Song Writer
Sounds very good Kenn.
I sometimes wonder if the original artists / producers hear your amazing work - and what they must think of what improvements you've made. As always, incredible job!
The only artist that I know for sure that heard one of these enhanced versions is Tommy Roe and that was because the man who takes care of his Facebook page alerted him that I enhanced "Sweet Pea" and he was impressed!
Kenn, Nice stereo version! Rog
I need a juke box.
Awww a murderer's song to his true love. :-)
Gunshots…I guess they killed him… Didn’t hear this in the original recording…so sad 😢
I've always thought a poignant video would be if it turned out the officer who finally shot him was his best friend since childhood, who knew who he was after, and they looked at each other before the singer raised his pistol and forced his buddy to shoot him rather than be arrested.
They are rock ther fricken grate think so?
The ending shootout was mixed out because of car accidents
My daughter is driving back to Iowa from ft. Bragg. She stopped in Indiana for the night. What highway song comes to mind?
R.D. Taylor For What a piece of bubblegum?
One Hit Wonder.
An APB brought me here.
Issued on Rare Earth records dis. By Motown.
