I played musical chairs to this song in third grade back in 87. There was a lovely brown eyed girl named Carol that i crushed my heart on as we crossed paths on opposite sides of the chairs. Takes me right back.
Thank you Kenn Wingle for making this classic even better. This song was a local hit in Detroit, Michigan in February 1972 and a nationwide Top-40 hit that summer. I was a mere 15 year old kid in 1972. I never get tired of hearing this hit by Gallery, and their musical career should have lasted much longer.
We can thank the GREAT Kenn Wingle for his incredible expertise in re-energising these songs🙏🙏 . When I first heard this song in 1972 on the radio it sounded exactly like this. Over time and especially when the transfer of vinyl to CD took place, quality was lost in a lot of 70s songs. Salute Kenn.
Great job on this. Very crisp and clear. Great mix, the steel guitar solo just perfect....thanks for sharing your gift. I also concur with the other fellow subscribers requesting Grass Roots. My favorite? Temptation Eyes.
There’s quite a story behind that steel guitar solo. They actually had two or three players come in and drop it into separate tracks until the final mix when they made the decision. Who did they pick? You’re hearing Red from Red Rhoads and the Detours. Country group that played the Palomino in North Hollywood for years. Even as far back as the days when Linda Ronstadt appeared there with her shoes off as The Stone Ponies!
Reminds me of waiting out in front of Immaculata High School in my Buick GS Skylark on Irving Park in Chicago in 1972 for my first love. I really miss those day a lot. Fast cars, and men were men.
Flat Feelings - Kenn does not have access to the master recordings - so they can be re-mastered by him. Though I wish he did have access to the masters so he can enhance them into a new separate recorded version along with his excellent input. But most of the time he just gets a good digital copy and then adds instruments - that he plays himself. There is more to it than that. For more, just read his notes below each video (and look for any technical comments too).
I think you'd have a good laugh a seeing me put some of these songs together! An example would be the time I played a lead part on the electric guitar (which is supposed to be closed circuit) but the studio mike was still on so I heard these clicks behind the guitar notes and it ended up being a new guitar effect by accident!
I love this song and it is called it's so nice to be with you and it is a awesome and excellent song. It is a amazing song and I love this song and I added it to my playlist.
Several things. First off, really liked the new background. Does Jim Gold (the lead vocalist) say "Dammit I just gotta say" or "Darling I just gotta say". I've been listening to this song off and on for almost 45 years and never did figure it out. Also, liked the handclaps near the end and the picture of an analog radio.
One other thing, they were a lot more conservative back then with language. In 1974 , I'm sure I heard "damn" or "hell" on TV, and it shocked me. I was 9 when this song came out, so I would've been around 11 in '74. Now there's no limit to what people say.
Randi Holbrook Yeah I'm getting ready for some more enhanced Monkess. Since I had a request for "Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow" I'll probably do that one. Kenn
I bought this song as a 45 when it came out when I was 12 years old. I remember playing it a lot...that was over half a century ago now. A different world.
This song brings back the summer of 1972, between bei8ng a boy from the 8th grade to a young man going to high school, great memories!
Love this song classic I'm walking down memory lane ♥️♥️

Always reminded me of Neil Diamond singing.THANKS!!!
True, a very common thing 2i4h people thinking this was Neil Diamond.
Andy Kim's 1974 hit "Rock me Gently" also sounds a lot like Neal
Thanks ! This song always takes me back to better times !!! 🎶🎶🎶👍✌

This is the best one hit wonder of the 70s and to me the best 70s song in general. Such a fun song. :)
They're three hit wonders. This one peaked at #4 and they had two other hits. One peaked at #22 and the other at #23.
I just stumbled across some of these songs. And they sound great. Keep cranking them out 😎
Wow never sounded better. Really brings me back in time. The 70s were great!
Awesome song! Love the 70's music
70s...the true music..😍🤩🥰
THIS SONG BRINGS BACK GOOD MEMORIES OF THE WORLD THAT ONCE WAS THAT UNFORTUNALLY WILL NEVER BE AGAIN
Don't give up hope, perhaps we will get some discipline in the world
I'm loving these early 70's
Great song! One of my favorites from my childhood.
Always a great and memorable song and the enhanced sound really puts the icing on the cake.
My as a teenager song!❤
This reminds me of roller skating with our class in eighth grade. 😊
saw them in Detroit around 1972,this song sounds as good now as it did then, great steel guitar rip.
Great job on this. Very crisp and clear. Great mix, the steel guitar solo just perfect....thanks for sharing your gift. I also concur with the other fellow subscribers requesting Grass Roots. My favorite? Temptation Eyes.
They have so many GR8 songs. Tuff to pick 1. It's too bad Rob died in 2011. I have seen them about 20x throughout the years

Wow....Thks for all these..... There are so many groups of yours we never heard about here in France...
It's so nice - to hear your enhanced recordings again and again. Actually it's so great.
isn't it called remastered version?

Dios bendiga a los jóvenes afortunados de aquella generación que tuvo excelente musica
Holy Cow.....this is phenomenal
Who seriously didn't think this Neil Diamond when it came out? Always wanted him to cover it.
Omg yes I thought it was Neil Diamond until I saw this lol! 😁
Neil Diamond? Get your ears cleaned out, they must be full of wax.

I think you'd have a good laugh a seeing me put some of these songs together!
An example would be the time I played a lead part on the electric guitar (which is supposed to be closed circuit) but the studio mike was still on so I heard these clicks behind the guitar notes and it ended up being a new guitar effect by accident!

...GDI, surely reminds me of LMO-56. Back in the day. sure do miss it.
Damn you cinematic35! Now I've got like a hundred of your videos to watch.
Amazing remix. I got trebles pinging out of both headphones.

your sound is perfect.
Still sounds *A-M-A-Z-I-N-G* Kenn!!!!
Nice job again, Kenn :)
1972 I was in fourth grade I remember this well
Summer of '72 at the Jersey shore buzzed on brew listening to WABC-AM making out with Karen at dusk.
(She was real nice.) 🤠
thanks for sharing.
Lead singer sounds like Neil Diamond.
One of the reasons I got into playing the congas and hand percussion was cuz of this song and some others of this period.
One other thing, Jim Gold was a welder in Detroit.
I hear "Darling I just got to say"!
Ok, thanks. Now that you mention it, seems that I saw the lyrics many, many years ago, and it was "Darling I just got to say".
One other thing, they were a lot more conservative back then with language. In 1974 , I'm sure I heard "damn" or "hell" on TV, and it shocked me. I was 9 when this song came out, so I would've been around 11 in '74. Now there's no limit to what people say.
Fantastic! It sounds soooooooo much better! More Monkees sometime soon too? :)
Randi Holbrook Yeah I'm getting ready for some more enhanced Monkess.
Since I had a request for "Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow" I'll probably
do that one. Kenn
That's the one I requested! Yay! Thank you so much!
Fkn Awesome
One of the best from 1972, made better by your talented handiwork!!
I used to think that Neill Diamond sang this song.....✌️
Booming! Over 500 Watt dts THX Speakers Thanx!
Jealous! :-)
Wasn’t this Jim Gold? He was performing at a bar in Warren Mi in the late seventies
More clarity but no low end and he's got a voice that needs that.
We were sure this was Neil Diamond!
nice.
Nice
You should - dare I say it - enhance Phil Spector's monophonic Wall of Sound.
"Be My Baby"! "River Deep - Mountain High"!
Jim gold was a welder for an auto maker
Sure dont make em like they used to!
LMO-56...nuff said.
Lead singer going for Neil Diamond?
Never noticed until you said! You're right. :-)
At least some enhancements work as promised, unlike the promises 🍆 the online ads make!😉
Originally on the Sussex/Bufdah Label.
On A&M Records.elsewhere.
Sure don't make em like they used to!
16 Dislikes.......WTF????
