I love the way Charley T says in his videos "Heyyy, it's no 2016 anymore" 🤣. I´m using the 3:2:2 method since I read your Email and yeah it works. Thanks for your content.
I really like your videos man! You are so incredibly informative and you discuss everything in a gentle style, which makes the videos so pleasant to watch! I have a question for you. I see that the 3 ad videos that you are using in this particular case are all 9:16. Shouldn't there also be 4:5 videos? I am just figuring things out concerning format sizes and I thought maybe you have a specific reason to specifically stick with only 9:16 ratios.
Thanks for the kind words 🙏 Yeah, in most cases, I try to make the videos so that they could be auto-cropped to 4:5 (which Meta will do depending on the placement). It's worth testing for yourself, though.
Man how did you add multiple Videos to your Ad? In my case i can only select one with the only option of "Change video". There's not even the option to select where you want the video to appear
Do you think there is a correlation between Facebook ads and songs being scraped onto playlists? It seems to be that every campaign I run it does very well but within a week or 2 consistently thats when I get hit with an obviously fake metric sourcing from an obviously potted playlist. Is this something we just have to live with now?
This is a good question. If I had to guess, I'd say yeah - I do think there is a correlation between running ads and getting hit. But also, I've seen plenty of artists who haven't run any ads or done any playlisting get hit. So it's not like not promoting = safe. My hunch is that scammers are also keeping tabs on indie distribution platforms (i.e., DistroKid, TuneCore, etc.).
Thanks! So the thing with these campaigns is they typically start higher (because you haven't preset a target) and then they get lower over time. First two weeks, averages about $0.45 CPR. First 3 months, averages around $0.30. But it's hugely dependent on the videos / song.
Thanks for the great video! I have two questions, did you get into release radar with your song yet, if so how many streams did release radar generate? And, what was the budget and duration of the campaign with 260k streams?
Yeah, but RR only generated about 350 streams - so, like nothing ha. And for the 260k campaign, it ran for 2.5 months with 1k in ad spend per month - totaled around $2.6k in ad spend.
You can totally use that. I most often end up paring the age range back, though, which is why I switch to Original Audience options; you can't set a hard exclusion with Advantage+, only a recommendation.
Is there a reason why you don’t make separate ads for each of the three videos? When you do it the way you did it in the video, how do you compare which video is performing the strongest? Thanks!!
Yeah, good question. So when you choose "Dynamic Creative," it's functionally pretty similar to if you made ads with each unique combination of assets - you're just giving Meta the ability to make the combinations for each user. And to see which video is performing best, you can do a breakdown by "Image / Video."
great video! just curious, are you able to give an approximation for how big the budget was for the artist you showed at the end? and how many of those plays came as a result of spotify algorithmic playlists? not sure if you'll be covering this later in the video series, but some thoughts on how much budget would be required to have a good chance of getting on discover weekly would be great
Thanks 🙏 And yeah, the artist was doing $1k per month in ad spend. Only about 13% from algorithmic, although Discover Weekly has just kicked in pretty heavily.
Go for it! Gotta be careful the spend doesn't get funneled somewhere weird (i.e., 65+, some random country or placement), but if you keep an eye on it, in my experience it works really well.
Are you getting any conversions (like, is your CPR just really expensive)? Or are you literally getting no conversions? If it's no conversions, it's probably a pixel issue. If it's a high CPR, it could be a lot of things, but it almost always comes back to ad creative and targeting.

Dang .50 ain’t good. Makes me skeptical about the method going completely broad but I’m interested in trying out broader targets like EDM rather than specific artists

Thanks!

Your videos are noticeably quieter than other UA-cam videos
I always think, "Woah this sounds really loud" when I'm mixing it ha... then it always ends up quiet when it's uploaded. I'll keep working on it.
