I'm usually apprehensive about starting a series, particularly long series. Like you, I'm very much a mood reader, and I also don't like to read too much of the same thing back-to-back. I don't want to get bored and have that ruin a good story! However, that being said, I'm on book 13 in Wheel of Time, book 3 in the Gentleman Bastard series, book 2 in the Stormlight Archive and book 5 in The Expanse series. I know there are other books I've read that technically continue on, but I'm not actively working through them right now (for example, I've read Red Rising, The Poppy War, Dune...)

I personally prefer long series as I always want more. And I had to laugh at just how many long series you are in the middle of. Several of them on my TBR.

It would benefit me to sit down and sort out what series I have started. I think the number would surprise me (more series than I imagine). Would definitely enjoy hearing about the series you’ve finished. Hi Cleo!

It surprised me too and I probably forgot some.
It may take me a while but I will go through the series I've finished.
      Cleo says Woof! 😂

i am following about 10 authors, but i only read at most 3 books of a series per year, so these favorite authors can accompany me for many years. They are like my friends that i want to gradually understand with years. For example, Victoria Thompson has 27 books so far in her Gaslight mystery, so i can still read them for another 6 years, if i do not outgrow it. My favorite author Maeve Binchy wrote 18 novels, i am reading them from the first published novel and I have quite a few years to look forwards to her works. As to new authors, I plan to read The Shining from King this year, which will be my first book of his. For the series I will give up, I bought a few The Puzzle Lady mystery by Pernell Hall, and Jane Austen Mystery by Stephanie Barron but will not continue collecting them. The most intriguing is The Royal Spyness mystery by Rhys Bowen, which is very funny and the voice is so much like the English young people I met in the UK. I suspect as a much older woman, how she could write characters so realistic, she must have hired young people to write for her after her successful historical series Molly Murphy. Anyway I feel interested in every author I like to follow.

I can understand taking time to read a favourite author's books.
I hope you enjoy The Shining. It will take you some time to get through King's books.
Thank you so much for sharing.

That's quite a lot Kathi isnt it? I am too read the Louise Penny books you made me do it:-) I am also reading my beloved Dr. Siri books with one new book in the pipeline and one of my most favorite Crime writers Fred Vargas is publishing her new novel in the second week of May. I am so excited, that's a real rare moment where i went to the store grab the book, back home put my smartphone away and just start reading.

I think it's probably too many 😂 but that's how I like it. I just finished Louise Penny's books so I'm up to date.
I am very much looking forward to reading Dr. Siri, and I know what you mean about wanting the newest book from a favourite author. I get so excited when I get it.

I love seeing your puppy! 💖
I definitely want to get to the Thrawn books! Both my husband & our oldest daughter absolutely love them!
I'll have to check out that series by Blake Crouch. I'm currently reading his book, Upgrade & I'm enjoying it quite a bit!

She's going to become a YT star if I'm not careful. 😂
If you do read the Thrawn books start with Heir to The Empire, his original trilogy. It's what got me hooked on Zahn's books.
So glad you're reading Crouch. I adore him.

Hi Kathi, I really enjoyed the update on the series you are reading. I have to read one more book to be up to date with the Louise Penny series. I am at the beginning of the Discworld series. I have mainly been reading stand alone books lately. Lovely to see Cleo! Thank you for the video

Soundtrack by Cleo! She really is a beautiful girl. I am definitely a mood reader but the closest I get to a series is all books by an author. I'd certainly be interested in some of your favorite series as I do enjoy hearing about them.

I’m reading the Stephen King Bill Hodges series. I read Holly and it made me interested in the history of the characters mentioned. I read Mr. Mercedes and am now reading Finders Keepers. So far I’m really enjoying them.

👋 I'm very much a mood reader and not really into series , except as the Osman Thursday Murder Club is one, or #1 Detective Agency by McCall-Smith-- i guess if there's a " next book", its a series? Never have read a fantasy! Should try. The box cracked me up...i always call things like that, " the babysitter". 😂 nice to see Cleo. She's a Big baby now!!

For me, series are my favourites because I always want more. You should give some fantasy a try, you never know you might like it.
Cleo is a very big baby. 😂

Hello Kathi. Oh my goodness. Book series. When it comes to fantasy if the series is complete I will binge read all of it so it's all fresh in my mind. Recently I finished the Tower of Babel series (4 books) by Josiah Bancroft, The Spellslinger series (6 books) by Sebastien de Castell, The Bone Shard Daughter series (3 books) by Andrea Stewart and the two current books in the Illborn series by Daniel T. Jackson. In historical fiction I've finished Elodie Harper's Wolf Den trilogy. In historical mysteries I have several on going series that are by Anna Lee Huber (Verity Kent mysteries) and (Lady Darby series). Deanna Raybourn's Veronica Speedwell series. C.S. Harris's Sebastien St Cyr mystery series. Mariah Fredericks Jane Prescott series (4 books so far ... hoping for more!!!). I love Raymond Feists Riftwar books and read a lot of them many, many (many) years ago as well as the spin off series Daughter of the Empire written with Janny Wurts. I love A.M. Stuart's Harriet Gordon mysteries but am having an annoyingly difficult time getting book four! And Sujata Massey's Perveen Mistry series ... I just got book four. Your Cleo is adorable!!! Cheers!!!

I much prefer fantasy series that are complete as well. Wow you have completed quite a few series and seem to have quite a few on the go as well. 😂
Thank you, Cleo is the adorable demon child. 🤣

My wife is a big Louise Penny fan. I. Haven't read her yet, but maybe one day soon. Like you, I have too many series on the go.

It's so easy to start new series, the trick is to finish them. I think you should try Louise Penny, if you enjoy cosy mysteries.

@NerdyKathi I will one day, as I do enjoy cozy mysteries. Did you know Amazon Prime made a show based on the earliest novels, I think it was called Three Pines. It only ran for a single season.
