  • This is the story of a Kodava family which comprised of more than 300 members in the year 1786 AD, which was butchered , burned and wiped out in a single day by Tippu sultan except for one member, Keethianda Kalaiah who lived to tell the tale.
At the base of the Western Ghats of South India in the district of Coorg in Karnataka lies a remote village called Thora. This beautiful village is the home of the Keethianda family from time immemorial.
The story dates back to 1786 AD.
Nestled between the rolling hills and scenic paddy fields, this Kodava family owned a very large house called ainmane or Ballyamane. It was a joint family system and about 300 members of the family lived in the house. There were 22 babies in the cradle. The family were Jamma land holders and served the Coorg Raja during war.
This video is the journey of the family from tragedy to triumph. #kodagu #coorg #coorgtourism #madikeri #kodava #keethianda #kodavatribe
