@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Thank you for watching and researching all the TOS episodes and putting in more hard work watching and researching the other Star Trek series to make every video as accurate as possible. 👍
Yeah, that's definitely one of the better episodes of TOS. Fesarius and the First Federation have had my imagination going quite a lot over the decades.
Love the tension in this episode and the remastered SFX makes this one of their best. Btw....Ted Cassidy, who played Rok in another episode and most famously played Lurch in the Addams Family, did the voice of the puppet....
One of my favorite episodes. It feels like it's way out on the frontier, for one things. So many other reasons. "Poker! Not chess, poker". Great moment, and I love how Kirk had the epiphany after McCoy was pushing him about Bailey!
It's one of my favorites. At the time, it was WAY too common for the hero to always shoot their way out of any given situation. One of the biggest reasons I love Trek is those shows that prove that thoughtfulness and resourcefulness can and do win out over brute force. I do have to have fun with the "End of discussion" thing about Clint being Rons' brother having to be mentioned. It's right up there with Iggy Pop being a guest Vorta on DS-9. Why it's always so needed to be pointed out has always been beyond me. I feel it's great that they're in the show but seriously... There have been a King, astronauts, world-changing geniuses, and all kinds of amazing people throughout Treks history thus far.
If i hadnt of mentioned the family relationship, I wouldnt have heard the end of it... As though somehow, Clint being Ron's brother has a HUGE bearing on the episode LOL I just did want to have to cut and paste the same msg about it over and over again ;) :P
The Corbomite Manoeuvre is definitely 1 of my favourite TOS episodes & Lt Uhura looks really Hot in the gold uniform but I definitely like her more in the red uniform
Yellow and Gold is SUCH a hard color for most people to wear and look good in actually... Same with Green... But I dont think she looked bad either in Gold, but Red definitely suits her much better :)
It makes sense that this was the first regular episode filmed. Nimoy was still doing a lot of shouting on the bridge, like in the two pilots. Very unlike him..
I wonder if the Star Wars (EP IV), Stardestroyer flyover could have been inspired by the dynamic appearance of Balocs starship (I like to think so)? ;-) What ever happened with the "First Federation", did they join the UFP?
Early on, they used the term "space vehicle _Enterprise"_ a few times as well, before dropping it. I don't remember if they used it here specifically, but I'm positive Captain Pike said it in "The Cage". Technically "space vehicle" is correct, but man does it sound weird.
Ah yes, Star Trek's greatest BIG HEAD ALIEN, who turned out to be a mere puppet. At the end of a lot of episodes they would show that cool big head alien and I couldn't wait to see the actual story, what a let down. And don't start talkin bout Talosians, sure they had big ole noggins too but design wasn't half as good. They should've found a way to make it work...
You should have mentioned how Clint Howard reprised his role of Balok in 2006 for Comedy Central's Roast of William Shatner where he pokes fun of Shatner's rug and downs tranya like tequila shots.
I liked Uhura in the "gold" uniform (just an opinion). She was one of my first boyhood crushes.
LOL, I think any colour suits her really!

Thank you for a great review of this episode. You hit this on all cylinders, sir. Bravo.
Glad you enjoyed it :)

That puppet freaked me out massively as a child, oh yes.
Fascinating!
*Nods head*
Thanks for the background. I like this episode and it does bring the concept together. Looking for more.

Captain Kirk pulled a nice bluff on those Romulans in The Deadly Years too
Indeed he did :)

Good video today, was curious with the remastered Visual Effects how has that changed any ones perspective on a given episode of Star Trek TOS
Stunny Trunmber
Nice episode, I hope to see your episode on Star Trek Deep Space Nine season one.
Thank you, and you and me both ;)

0:26 Bare-chested Kirk.
Nice one thank you.
Not my favourite episode either but way up there. Is that Ted Cassidy's voice as unseen Belock?
You're very welcome and indeed it is :)
It's too bad we never got a follow up to this episode. I would love to know more about the First Federation.
