Tuning your ride to fit you is just that an experiment. When I changed to lighter weights, acceleration/torque improved/top speed decreased. I experimented with increasingly heavier weights and eventually settled back with the stock weights for all around performance. My gy6 50cc engine has some modifications: 50mm Airsal domed piston, A9 cam, aftermarket gears (I forget the #'s), free flowing exhaust, and the use of a stock 150cc carb (I do that with all my builds) and the use of electric fuel pump. It will GPS to 60mph on flat highway on windless day no problem. Gotta' love these little engines.

Watch the video on "how to install Dr. Pulley sliders". You need to turn your sliders 180 degrees, you assembled them wrong. I have the exact Glixal 5g sliders, the package has NO install instructions. I grabbed my 6.5g Dr. Pulley instructions to find the correct install method noting that in your video the sliders are laying in the basket wrong unless you flipped them b4 assembly.

I came across this in a roller/slider manufacture description:
    - Heavier Sliding Roller Weights= A Slower Take Off Speed with More Acceleration and A Higher Top Speed.
    - Lighter Sliding Roller Weights = A Faster Take Off Speed with Less Acceleration and Lower Top Speed.
Of course the weight of the rider will impact this too.

I watched a video about difference between rollers and sliders. Basically the biggest difference is that rollers tend to wear down and get flat spots faster than sliders, in fact they said that sliders will last 3 times longer before having to be changed. This has to do with the surface pressure between the roller/slider and the variator back plate. They showed examples of this on rollers and sliders. It was pretty interesting.

Apparently this wasn’t a fair example because they were the same exact weight but that’s what I wanted to test was the same exact weight one versus the other
People have told me that as well from this video and living that moment I will not go with sliders rollers perform different but for me and my bikes I like them better

Hello, I also have a gy6 50cc with 47mm bbk, using 5g rollers, and im about to try the 5g sliders to see that will happen.
What kind of contra spring do u use? Do u recommend stronger like +1000 rpm blue or +1500 rpm yellow spring?

    • @davidhofinger4927
      @davidhofinger4927  Рік тому

1500 yellow contra and clutch springs with an NCY bell, Polini variator with 4.5g rollers.
Try em out give ‘em a shot
I’m not gonna say that they’re gonna work particularly well every bike as different as well. I hope you get positive results.
I would recommend the yellow ones the red ones are a bit drastic, but my body ran the red clutch springs and it took off off line so I cannot say it is true for every bike. It’s all about testing and tuning

  • @-TheDude-

you should go up 1 gram when going to sliders from rollers. i first read that in a bunch of scooter mod forums and from experience i know it to be true. if you go down weight with sliders its just going to make your rpms go even higher, same as rollers. with the 4 strokes you need to tune these weights to stay in the max torque rpms, usually 7500rpm or so. initial takeoff should get you somewhat close to that rpm and stay close or at those rpms all the way through to top speed i believe. my scoot was screaming down the road topped out at 8100rpm, after i went up .5 gram with the sliders(was using 7.5g sliders, went to 8g) my max rpm dropped to around 7700-7800 and the top speed increased. takeoff suffered a bit but wasnt enough to matter. the hardest thing for me was getting over the faster rpms not equating to more speed, didnt sound as fast and can mess with your head. now with the 2 stroke it is a bit different, those things love high rpm and can handle it too, which im sure youre very aware. also those glixal ones performed way different than the dr pulley sliders of the same weight when i tested them, they dropped my top speed as well. scale showed they weighed right, so maybe the material or shape was the cause. would recommend spending the little bit extra and go for the dr pulleys if youre going the slider route. some variators seem to work better with sliders and some work better with rollers too. been curious on how sliders perform in that polini vari though so thanks.

I ended up dropping it down to 4.5 g rollers after this video and I shaved a second off of 0 to 2 0 to 40 Yeah kept the same 50 mph top speed so I ran with that And going to from here on out
Little bit peppier down low and still holds the same top speed
I don’t think I’m going to mess around with sliders again makes sense though I’m glad that happened with you to the motor was revving higher So I’m smiling yanking on the throttle ridin turns out it was a whole ass 7 mph slower lol

if it is you want something out of your video and you want to have the correct numbers etc., then it is important that you learn to turn your Sliders correctly, You have mounted your Sliders the wrong way, and because of this you will lose a lot of the right numbers that you need to compare with against the other normal reels.
This means that the measurements you have made with the Sliders do not fit in the slightest and must be redone.... now make a video where they are turned correctly and then we will see again how your numbers are
