Because any fool can act mysterious and pretentious but being open and naturally stylish is harder for a fool because it gives too many uncomfortable opportunities for them to reveal their foolishness, if they care at all. Bowie was certainly no fool.
Right on target. He had a MAJOR impact on my life..and was a fellow Capricorn ( Mine is Jan. 13). I totally got his need/drive to keep exploring and changing. I have had that same ethic and it was amplified when I first heard/saw him in 1972 and 1973. He was ALWAYS interesting and steps beyond everyone else. It hurt me deeply that weekend he died just after his last birthday and 5 days before my own birthday. I miss him a LOT. Peace
David's infectious smile, feel-good vibe and crazy story has really cheered me up. This was a cracking appearance and it's great that people can stumble upon it and remember him how I'm sure he'd love to be remembered.
many, many of us gentle souls have been there too and have emerged the other side.....I'll be here for you David ; just take one day at a time and fill your day with fine tunes x
Hahaha why I love David Bowie. He's the only man who can walk into an interview and not be asked a single question and yet still tell the most fascinating stories! His funny little brain!
This is the reason I'm so saddened that Bowie doesn't give interviews anymore. He's so hilarious. His smile and laugh are infectious. (Edit Note: Just so people know I posted this comment before David Bowie passed away. Looks like it must have been just before. Of course afterwords we find out he was in poor health at the end suffering from cancer. But even before that after his heart attack he decided to stay out of the public light and devote all his time to his family. Even if he didn't want to tour, understandable, I missed hearing/seeing him talk.)
sì ma uno come lui riusciva ad essere elegante anche se veramente vestito con i primi stracci che trovava .....Non ho mai visto nessun'altro riuscirci! !!!!
There's nothing like this these days. It was a really free and as it happens show. Loved it. This and the word kind of defined that short time. Free n fun.
Just found this - I was at that show and am in the video! DB was still singing when they rolled the credits and then went on for another 30 mins afterwards. It was a great show with Annie Lennox on just before. The TFI audience was only about 50 - 60 people all crammed into the little studio with some clever cattle herding to make it look busy.
We need more people like David and not less. If this could be, then maybe we could get up to a brighter and happier day. Fabulous man and sorely missed, for ever...
I love his face in 6:53. Something about it is just pure magic :) I can totally understand why people of all ages and sexes fell for him and were attracted to him.
I was so angry at him for his craziness when he was young, i didn't keep up with him, so i didn;t know til he was gone what a strong and funny guy he was. David, whereever you are, I'm sorry I didn't appreciate you while you were here, but i've sure learned a lot about you since you've been gone. I hope to meet up with you in the next life
Ive always loved this interview. Now, i love it more than ever. I could have listened to him banging on for hours. Doubly enjoyable, that it also closes with my Fave Bowie tune of the moment...that i have been listening to a lot this week, tro the tears. I actually just learnt the song last night on my acoustic guitar....and...when i searched this video out, to cheer myself up, i was oblivious to the fact that the interview ended with the song. I think the vid i watched on here previously, was only the interview part...as i made comments in the past on it, but cant see any from me, on this particualr Vid. Anyhoo...RIP Mr B...there is a massive Bowie Shaped hole in so many peoples lifes and hearts now. Sleep tight Starman X
I’m ready a biography called “David Bowie: a Life” which is all first hand accounts from dozens and dozens of interviews of bandmates, friends, management, and more, at least every dozen pages you read something about his amazing charm. This interview is just wholly evident of that.
+agun wiriadisasra He really was a genius and greetings from Germany...Listen to Heroes in German:Helden, that is so sweet his german with his british accent...brilliant...RIP and Rest in Power for David Bowie too;-)
+agun wiriadisasra That is brilliant too and I think he was singing Heroes in French too but that must be sweet to sing a song in indonesian with his brithsh accent....great one Danny:)
He got over his fear of performing and it's a good thing he did, because people loved him more and more. He was a great person and if hed only known how much people were going to love him, he'd have been more confident way sooner. But I can live with it, though. He is loved by many and we will always cherish him.
LOVE, LOVE LOVE I remember this live, I couldn't believe how young he looked. He was a one off. I feel so lucky to be lucky enough to have been around when he was. David I'l love you forever. xxxxx
As an Indonesian, I'm proud that he had such surreal moment in a jungle, like what a chance he found a temple and a palace in a middle of jungle if not in bloody Indonesia. Like I think, seriously, he met some kind of Singosari's nobleman's unrested soul there.
Just the best...Davy you will be sadly missed as your persona seemed infallible; thank you for all your magic ziggy & of course your parting gift, Bless you :((
He was very cool. We would have been very good friends. He would have hated me cause we're so much alike, but he would have understood and been my friend anyway. He was very unique and very special for that.
Strangely, this is a time (anytime during nineties) when Bowie wasn’t that popular. You can almost tell the crowd don’t appreciate him as much as their elders. I’m of that generation. I didn’t know how great he was until I was in my 30s. Strange watching a true legend surrounded by a few that couldn’t care less:)
I think that's as much to do with the song being a new one from an album few at the show would have heard. Loom at his BBC performance in the 90s...he was hugely popular still.
I saw him on the Glass Spider Tour and it was in a stadium. He was huge and popular among Boomers and Gen Xers. And my kids sort of revere him. Bowie transcends generations. He was something special for sure.
Yes, the act of pulling upon the fluent colors of pink, yellow and grey truly is an expression of giftedness. It reminds me of a basket colored with stains of mercury and silk.
This is a true story: One of Bowie's earliest childhood friends, and one of mine earliest childhoods, were both in a plane crash in South America and were held hostage by Panamanian dictator Manuel Noreiga. My friend's name is Jonathan, and he was with Peter Frampton at the time. True!
@@omegajrz1269 Bowie once showed my older brother one of his tattoos. It was on his ankle; a cattle's skull, and around it in Japanese script is the 'serenity prayer'. Japan is neither in Central America or South America. True story.
@romanticandperky No. Central America is above South America and below North America. They are not the same thing. Panama is the last country before entering South America. It borders Colombia on the south side.
@romanticandperky What does this have to do with the geography lesson I'm giving you? You don't even know how to find your navel and then you want to confuse the regions of the American continent. Please. Until when?
It was 10th January 2016 I wish more folk had heard his song "Kooks" I play it often and SMILE 🥰 He and Scott Walker are up there duetting - one day I hope to hear them 🥰🥰🥰
Its crazy when he first came out, He had a mysterious personality, but as he got older to his 50s, He developed a wild sense of humor and lust for life
Because any fool can act mysterious and pretentious but being open and naturally stylish is harder for a fool because it gives too many uncomfortable opportunities for them to reveal their foolishness, if they care at all. Bowie was certainly no fool.
It's hard to believe he was 52 years old here, he didn't look like it.
+brainfart101 Yes , he looks years younger and the energy ...wow
And he behaved like a funny boy. Such cute. As we say here: he comes from little woods to sticks. So funny. I miss him
He did come on
As hard and as nice as it is at the time, stopping the coke helped.
Looks about 35, on top form too - very sadly missed.
I met him 3 times in the early 90s... he was exactly as you see him here. He seemed to go through life as if everyone he met was an old friend.
Oh I love this so much... "he seemed to go through life as if everyone he met was an old friend"... those are absolutely words to live by. ❤
He's so English, such a gentleman, never speaks ill of anyone, witty always, with great conversational skills. I fucking miss him.

I dont think dead people can give interviews bro
Hale that was written 4 years ago bro
The reason why he doesnt give interviews anymore is because he is dead.
god this comment makes me so sad i miss him so much
25 years ago, what is this madness
in all my years of lovving bowie i now know hes just a bloke enjoying the ride.
David is brilliant at doing surreal conversation as he segues from one idea to another abstract observation...
He's the most adorable human being in the whole universe.
very few men can pull off Pink with Yellow, but he did!! xx

the fun old days when David Bowie loved to keep his fans happy on tv i miss them
I'm devastated by the news of his death. There won't be any other man on this earth as him. Love you forever David.
This wonderful man I miss so much he was just awesome in real life - I could listen to him all day
Amazing man. Love his self deprecation.

52? Try 62. This show was from ‘99, he died 2016 at 69.

I adore his laugh. So rich and joyful.
What a surreal interview.... and then Iggy starts waving from the audience
Priceless
Recorded the previous week.
He was one of a kind. RIP.
it seemed at times like it might fail, but that improvisation was brilliant.
True professional amazing eye contact and control

bloody hell he was funny
Hell yeah, he was. I loved his vivaciousness, his playfully-naughty sense of humor, & his warm heart.
Respect for Bowie rocking the aniston so well, Im swooning!
How sick is that Bowie and Iggy were just there at that moment ❤️
Thankgod for this high quality video in sound and vision.

Absolutely charming and delightful. He was a wonderful storyteller. The studio audience was very fortunate.

Great interview
How could one man be so intelligent and gifted?
Did Post-Grunge too? Incredible.
He's on something here for sure.
+imtheotherdave Yes, Love
+Ophelia Carlson Some people would actually take him on his word he isn't.
+imtheotherdave Just because he wasn't on drugs doesn't mean he wasn't on something. Could be something a doctor gave him.
Apparently he wouldn't take pills even from his doc if he could help it. Maybe just high on gastroenteritis.
