Why are we creating a partition? Maybe there's a different/better option than risking one's data.....All you're doing is making a fresh macOS install. You could do that to a new external disk and keep your internal disk untouched and not bother with partitioning. I mean, after your partition, what, you have half the space available on each disk? waste of space. and risking to merge the partitions later...risky. and totally unnecessary.....

Another method would be to buy a 1tb seagate external hard-drive in amazon and save all your transferrable files in it and try to get your hard-drive to at least 550 GB.

What i learn from this :- Don't put mac in sleep long time. shutdown for every 20 days.
partitioned drives no prob. rebooted cmd P and R but no wifi icon top right after booted up so downloaded the OS from the web. installed OS from web but no wifi icon so now have partition but no wifi . Did not merge the two partitioned drives yet. Stuck!

palamena96 I did this process without backing up my stuff and managed to fix my MacBook Pro so I’d say no you don’t have to. But you can never be too safe.

Same situation here lol. The hardware issue with the wi-fi remained even after I entered the macOS Utilities. And since I cannot connect to the Wi-Fi, I also can’t reinstall. (There’s no Wi-Fi icon on top right)
If you cannot log-in to WiFi in reboot mode, then that is further confirmation you need to go to an Apple store; and have them inspect your computer. I’m sorry this video could not help you.
exactly that. I swapped the logic board and I deleted the partition. Now I want to "command + R" but it doesn't get to there because I get an error: -1005F. Not possible to even re-install due to this error.
I got my MacBook second hand and the previous owner told me he had taken the mac to the apple store to have the wifi disabled. for me the wifi symbol wasn't even showing up on the menu bar to begin with, the wifi card showed up on my system report in the wifi section though. I opened my mac and confirmed that the wifi card was physically attached properly. then I took my hard drive out, formatted it on a different computer then cloned the hard drive using a Mac that has working wifi and now the wifi symbol is showing up but gives me the no wifi hardware installed message. shouldn't erase the hard drive and cloning it with a different mac do the same thing as in this video? I tried to reinstall os on the mac in recovery mode before taking it out but for some reason it wouldn't let me do it without internet connection. and the internet does work when connected by cable (which I don't have)
weo1weo1weo1 WOW okay, so theoretically speaking I would assume that the first method you tried should have fixed the problem. However, for some reason it did not fix the problem. Try to connect to your WiFi in recovery mode by holding command + p + r simultaneously (or command + r) if you can connect to the internet in recovery mode attempt to fix your MacBook with my method. If it doesn’t let you connect to WiFi please let me know.

Shayla DeWdt The reboot portion of your computer should allow you to connect through WiFi. If it doesn’t you truly need to fix the damaged area on your computer. Have you attempted the reboot process yet? Or are you just asking this question because it doesn’t make sense.

Switch off your mac then hold control+command+shift+power key for 10 sec and switch on your mac. The wifi will get started again

TL;DR: Reinstall macOS to a fresh partition or fresh disk.
