Your mileage might vary either way. Some people use 168 so they can invade level 150 player while minimizing the chances of invading over and over people about to fogwall you in the endgame. I just do that if I feel my build needs it.
You are right, FSC would boost fire damage and therefore the damage of madness spells, but the 8% damage increase while taking 15% more damage is not worth it on Madness builds, because you are static so often. Casting the spells fast is key in my experience, but if I would switch this slot it would be for Godfrey's Icon, because a fully charged Frenzied Flame or Frenzied Burst is pretty good damage🙂
It is a known combo, yes, but I rather have fire damage and extra life in the flask than a 10 second chance to fire off the spell where you are very vulnerable, especially against 3 enemies which are the invasions I focus on. But yes, it definetly also works 🙂

No, this is not what happened. Maybe you should ask before assuming something calling out my pride, I have no problem at all dieing after the host died. What happened is I tbagged the host for constantly spamming this silly glintstone shard. I don't condone bm, this is why I cut it out. The scaling of Frenzied Seal is horrible, that is why Erdtree outclasses it, I still get the 20% of the offhand Seal. At higher levels you can use 2 FF Seals for better scaling.
