- My friend Cory asked that I restore his warhammer 40k Dark Angel Captain.
This primaris model means a lot to him so I couldnt refuse painting him to his full glory.
Astartes, Necrons, Eldar, Chaos Space Marines, Age of Sigmar, Tau, Ork. Ill restore pretty much anything.

I hope to one day teach and make content around minipainting as a full time job. Your support means a lot, so thanks!

Awesome video. I think a lot of people in the comments are keen to know what you used to strip it?
Dude we NEED a tutorial for how you stripped that model so perfectly
Yes what did u use in the video to strip the mini I have not had much luck finding anything to strip models these days
What did u dip him in if u dont mind me asking
@Mathieu Gervais in his next short he mentions in his pinned comment that he uses "Simple Green" to strip his minis
That’s a really cool idea, would love to see more Mav!
This reminds me of a 4chan post, a guard player and his friend who played Dark Angels were one hell of a duo. Even when his friend was dying of cancer he proceed to give his guardsman friend his models before he passed, and up to the day he wrote the post he played a portion of his friends Dark Angels as a support and the stand in for his friend always had good rolls😢
Was that the same one where the model named after his friend punched out a Daemon Prince?
@@captainchunkplays4961 I believe so. as a Dark Angels Fan, it brings me happiness to see the Sons of the Lion do so well but this story is true brotherhood. I hope the noble knight named after his friend continues to serve honourably.
now his friend is with the emperor's light, watching over his friend and their models in battle.
You removed all that paint so well.. Would love to see a "how to"!
I second this
use simple green or purple power. soak and use old toothbrush and tooth pick to remove paint. easy stripping.
90+% isopropyl alcohol
@@LiveforHM do you rinse intermittently with water? Or just keep dipping back in alcohol?
@djnausea i personally do not use IPA as my primer is lacquer based instead of acrylic. Theoretically i could soak in IPA as that would remove all the acrylic layers, but purple power has worked for me.
Extra soaking time is okay if i find some paint still sticks after a good scrub.
"Brother, you've pulled through yet again. The Rubicon Primaris is complete, you are now Primaris!"
I LOVE the little story you added to the restoration process, would LOVE to see more content like this! Your paintings are always breathtaking
Agreed.
Would 100% watch restorations..
Especially as I found my models from my childhood.
Some I am keeping as they are as a reminder. Some are being touched up to show how I can make them look now
My heart sank when you put him in a jar. Things were about to get nasty
FUCKING SAME!!!! 😂😂😂
"And some of our worst" damn that really hit me. The amount of time I chose to isolate myself only to paint for hours to bring at least a slither of joy to my life, and they do. Always. Bless those tiny plastic things.
Really heartwarming! I wonder if you have a similar story restoring any of your old models?
Salute this dedicated Captain
I can say, mini painting is such a good outlet for my stress and anxiety
Love this. What a sick paint job ❤❤❤
I’ve liked your videos for a while, and I’m glad I rewatched this one again. The paint jobs are always awesome, but I think the Voiceover content is what really makes me like your videos. You have a great ability to find very thoughtful and heartfelt things to say when telling your stories, and I think that’s what makes me look forward to watching your videos
I am getting back into the hobby after about a decade and I have always needed to brush up on my painting skills. More of these videos give me great ideas, but tutorials would be even better! Keep up the good work!!
It’s honestly a little touching to see someone this passionate about something they enjoy doing, on go man this is great!
👍👍 I can't believe how well that stripped!
Awesome work, "painting as a gift" is one of my favourite ideas in this hobby 😊👌
The nerdiest but most satisfying thing ever ...
Absolutely i love watching really cool looking models become absolute legends
Oh absolutely do a series of this!! so cool to see a model evolve and get "promoted" sort of speak. Must be an even better feeling being the models owner.
Would love to see more of this type of video! Super heartwarming
It would be amazing to see more videos like this
I absolutely love your videos. Your painting skills are second to none. I’m new to Warhammer. I bought a bunch of models a couple months ago and am still trying to find the time to complete the laborious (but enjoyable) task of building the models in a perfectionist manner by removing mold lines, sanding, kit bashing and painting. I take a lot of care and time to prep and build the models so that they are flawless. Then comes the painting and Am just not very happy with the results. I’m just not a good enough painter yet. I have this one model in particular that I absolutely love. It’s the Blood Angels terminator librarian turned Deathwatch. If you would paint that for me so I don’t ruin it, I’d cherish it forever! Love the series, keep up the good work!
The paint job was incredible but it was the commentary that made me hit that Like button.
please tell us your recipe for the green armour. And yes please more of this kind of content
i wuld love to see a tutorial of the green armor too
I’ve never seen zenithal highlights presented so well. Would love to see your technique for this.
Ive been thinking about doing stuff like this to some of my sisters, and also some of my old warmachine models. But this videos are AWESOME for painting motivation. Thank you man! More please!
what a cool hobby. its like a board game and art project in one
What is it you used to remove the paint from the plastic?
I love this so much! Please could I ask for the paints used for the armour? Such a great colour
no
Since it’s a dark angel most people use caliban green and warpstone glow
Yes, I’d like to see this as a series. Phenomenal work!
“Through good times and some of our worst”. I discovered painting models as a healthy escape for me dealing with my grandfathers passing
I didn't think the old guy looked too bad, then I saw the update wow that guy deserved a makeover. Yes do more.
You can't start to imagine how much that resonates with me. Although I am, and always was, a CSM player, I was painting a friend's Dark Angels space marines, when my mum was in the ICU battling with cancer complications. She did not make it in the end, but in the haze of the next few days, I still recall painting miniatures to overcome my grief. The amount of psychotherapy painting provides, the seer focus and blocking everything outside for a few minutes or hours at end, cannot be explained.
you did that Captain justice. i hope he gets many more hours on the tabletop under your friend's guidance
This dude just legit made me rethink my perception towards all my models whether it be minis, tanks, or gunpla
You’re right they deserve a lot more appreciation and care
This makes me feel like I need to name all my Bladeguard. Those little dudes do work.
Absolutely should! I just picked this hobby up a few weeks ago and now watch every paint video there is.
I'm absolutely don't know anything about 40k, but I'm a painter so every now and then some shorts or videos about painting these figurines (?) are recommended to me and i truly enjoyed it! 👍🏼
The narrative is just perfect.
I think this is awesome as someone new to painting models I think it is cool how delicate you are with the brush
Restoration videos are the best. I used to do a ton of armies but alas I got old. But watching them makes me love the hobby one more. Thanks!
Brought a little tear to my eye. May the Captain continue to serve. Well done.
I dont no nothin bout Warhammer 40k. But damm this is satisfying to watch and the results are impressive, keep it up
Thanks, will do!
Woah!!! Love the care and thought put into this. One of my friend’s sadly passed away and we use to play kill team every Saturday night. I haven’t been able to bring myself to play since and unfortunately my death guard army just sits now. You’re right to say they take care of us. They remind me of all of the good times I use to share with my friend.
The little stories overlayed on the restoration are so wholesome. Really love this series!
Yes! Do more! This was awesome, thank you soo much 🙏🫶🔥
God if I could just send you my Kriegsman, I don't know if I'd even want them back with how much love and dedication you put into every piece. I'd have to gift them. Amazing.
What a despicable Angel of The First Legion. Nice work.
I'd ALWAYS watch model restoration videos. Great idea, very satisfying.
Love your restorations!!! MORE!!
For free? Beautiful job, your friend is definitely blessed!
Ofc you should do more you can the joy in you soul when you presented it would love to see more
Amazing job and yes to the series 👏🏼
A couple days ago i was goin through a rough patch nothing insane but just somethin that had me feelin down and for the count, and for the first time ever i went to my models to get my mind off of everything and its like I competely shut off the outside world just for those couple hours and it really helped me calm down and feel better. Its amazing how therapuetic miniature painting can be sometimes
This is by far my favourite short video of the month.
Thank you!!
I always see these models before the restoration and think “Wow they already look dope. Idk why they would want to have it repainted.”
And then I see the after photos and it makes complete sense. Super badass.
I have tons of D&D tabletops that need restoration one day .but for now. Im glad just to still have them .
Oh man. I wish I would’ve known this guy when I tried to paint my Belial. The paint job was so bad. I tried but back then I just didn’t really know how to paint correctly.
Your channel is awesome!
I love this. As a newcomer to the hobby it makes me so eager to delve deeper into it when I see a community as great as this
Out of all the “nerdy” things I could’ve stumbled upon I’m glad it was Warhammer, so much lore and stuff to watch and read. I might pick up the models but I don’t have steady hands or the patience to make them look good 🤣
Awesome paint job and some great wisdom shared 👍.
God my family and I started 40k recently... and figures are by far the coolest. Watching your videos makes us want to get some but only when the money is right. Appreciate you 🤙🏽
Love the story to this. Honoring the paint, effort and stories that came before.
Definitely something I would watch!!
Wow, that was some day and night difference level painting. Good job
Love watching rescues! :)
Absolutely love these!! It's so awesome to see love with love like this for the hobby!❤
Holy emperor, your friend is going to love it
I've just took up painting again life long warhammer fan incredible restoration an thanks for some inspiration
I'm just starting out painting minis and the steadiness in your hands is amazing to watch, ive never managed to have that level of perfection, even through making art in other forms. you are truly incredible at what you do sir
immaculate job.
Honour to you battle brother!
Thats an amazing restoration and I love the altruism. Keep up the good work sir!
*claps* what you said about respecting the modles and showing them love for all the love they've shown us hit home for me. I've had these old 94 or 95 grots sitting around for years. im finally painting them and loving it. They will happily fight and die "for da empwaaagh"
Looks amazing and I like the story that comes with it 😊
Nice resto, great idea to revamp those old cormfort army pieces.
Love the feel-good narration.
Not a gamer, but i LOVE THESE! Incredible talent in painting miniatures. I carve in miniature, and have debated on atte.pting a few like this, to see if people would enjoy something like this, done in bone...
Yes please do more of these. Well done!
Awesome! Important to be remembered how much good vibes we get from this small friends of ours
at first i thought the paint job wasn't too bad, but compared to yours, damn. looks great!
I only wish I could paint even half of the talent that you have !!!
Your friend is very lucky you would do this for him.
So I’m now following you and never unfollowing these are amazing.
A restoration? That’s a body job, well done. That mini has some great memories and many more to make!
I was suicidal and then found warhammer, the most fun I had in my entire life is listening to the audiobooks and making miniatures. True zen and thank you to the community.
Yes I want more of this content. This is fantastic.
What a great thing you have done. Love it!
That helmet upgrade hits different. That little fella earned that thing! Nice job!
Awesome paint job.... Love these kinds of videos
I enjoy your videos & the positive vibes I hear in them. Keep up the good work! 💪👍
I have no models, my animals consume any models passed my way over the years, but spent many years playing.
That's awesome, everything you said is spot on, well said!!
well this is the best thing i've seen all day.
Yessssssss these are relaxing and fun to watch please do more
You’ve actually convinced me to bring my older 5th Edition 12 year old me armies into my modern painting level, but I’ll keep some examples for keepsakes and case decorations.
So i dont play warhammer, but i do make custom figures. And what you said about owing them appreciate is so true. I've had some god-awful days where once i got home, i sat down, prepped parts, and began to paint. It's relaxing and helps you forget bad stressful days.
Beautiful restoration. I'm sure Coreyafriendamine loves it.
Loved the paint job and the voice over.
The original owner did a good job and the new look is so freaking clean man. Awesome work
