@thedarkbanshee Actually if you watch the whole series that IS explained. Vash lost his arm in a small gunfight with Knives right before the July City incident. (Knives blew his right arm clear off his body with a well placed shot). That same arm was grafted onto Legato Bluesummers, and is actually the reason Legato has psychic powers. Vash has them as well, but refuses to use them. It's MUCH much clearer in the manga.
Really? I thought it was kinda disappointing... For one thing, it would have been cool if (for example) Knives would have, you know, used knives. Why else would they call him that. To be honest I preferred the battle between Vash and the blue-haired guy with telepathy (forgot his name, sorry). I know it wasn't a final battle, but the impact was much greater than this.
meeu There's got to be a reason why they called him that. Perhaps the reason why he became a villain is because he was pissed for having such a name...
notice something : in anime fights it's tipical for both fighters or at leats one of them to keep talking about their logic. It doesn't need to be about persuading the other. They keep talking in order to make the scene more dramatic and deep. This anime's FINAL fight has no need for that :) all we need is to look at their expressions to understand.
Yeah by this point vash hit his breaking point and made his decision. No point trying to convince knives anymore. That's why I love this fight, just straight up battle to the end 😎
This wasn't a gun fight. This was a fight between peace and war, and both sides are scared. I loved the humanity in Knives' eyes, he was frightened in that stand off but also wasn't willing to pull the trigger because he wanted to live just as much as Vash did as he was a symbol of peace doing what he had to do in order to protect it. It's insane of how many layers this fight alone had, with the emotional capacity and amount of tension being thrown back and forth between these two showed how human they really were. Sadly, it didn't seem like either of them wanted to be right in this argument of peace and war. They just knew they had to do it because it's what they stood for.
100% agree. Also, notice how at the end Knives misses his last shot, and Vash doesn't even flinch? They both knew at that moment who had already won. So incredibly subtle, yet the richness of the story is always there.

@@hypeman1825 It's a bit different in the manga though. Humans made him took the evil path. Vash almost went to the dark side too and even stab Rem with a knife. During the series, Vash is able to communicate to the beings that live inside active Plants (the bulb shaped structures that provide power on planet Gunsmoke). did knives make those guns so they could harness there energy?
very cool. never watched the anime except this part. now im gonna watch it
@MetalGearRexPilot Much Obliged mate, havetn sween the show since early 05 , maybe 03 I lost track
The difference in color of their angel arm is most likely a reference to ying & yang
How does the manga end? Normally I wouldn't ask and would just buy it but money's a little tight right now :(
I do like that knives looks legitimately terrified at the prospect of dying at a number of points in the fight.
as he soulde be...........this is fucken vash the stamped........
DAYUMN!!
i need to watch this anime :[
@MetalGearRexPilot ohh , so their basicly energy in physical form ? or some thing like that ?
"vash.. take care of knives......."
@thedarkbanshee read the manga, and it explains many times how vash lost his arm.
