@@banjodulce hi tom, i am coming back to the banjo after a couple year hiatus and trying to unlearn some of my prior bad habits. one thing i am struggling with is drop thumb as i never attempted to learn it the first go around. i know you have a video or two on drop thumb but one thing im wondering about is how you know where to put in a drop thumb in a tune that you may already know that doesnt have drop thumb? i guess maybe more specifically how do you know when to put in drop thumb and when you dont? is it tune specific or can you just add them in as you please? if that makes sense
@mike gager So much of drop thumb is subjective. I will try and post a video with some specific examples. In general, when you are playing a Fiddle tune and attempting to get "all of the notes" using your thumb is the only way to get some of those notes. More to come....
I am always playing in Double C, love it.
great lesson-thanks
I appreciate this too, thanks
Thankyou Tom for taking the time to instruct us on these famous tunes and tunings.
Thanks Gary

You're very welcome!
Good info.

Thanks Mike. Let me know if you have any ideas for new videos. I always do better with outside motivation.

How do you play the fiddler’s version?
Love how you teach, as if I really could understand it. Just kidding, I do learn a lot this way.
