A girl in a hammock wearing a Gilligan hat playing clawhammer banjo while being watched over by Columbo. It don't get no better than this. Great version Phoebe!
🎶Cool beans Phoebe! I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but, as fun as it is listening to you jam, your facial expressions are truly a wonderful highlight to watch, ngl. 🤘😊👍🎶
I just love all of phoebe,s Facial expressions while playing.. i look forward to you Phoebe.. Because of your confidence, i am going to buy a recording king 0T26 Open back with a scooped fret board.. I decided old time really works well with my heart & mind, i truly love old time folk music.. it is the best to my ears..😊😊😊😊😊
here for my fix. ;) most excellent. learned this tune way back in 1976. yes, that time did exist. ;) haven't gotten out my banjo for way too long ... three/four years or so. [what's wrong with me?] ;) but you inspire me to do just that. so thanks ... from this 77 yr old ... who still thinks of himself as a wide eyed kid. your vids help me to do that. thanks again.
Good job! I. Bout yo by a clawhammer banjo and learn that style I love it! I play cluck ole hen on my mountain dulcimers alot!! Thanks for the banjo dose!!
One of my favorite tunes, in one of my favorite tunings! My old hen is a good old hen. She lays eggs for the railroad men. Sometimes six, sometimes ten. That’s enough for the railroad men. Cluck old hen. Cluck and squat. Next time You cluck, You’ll cluck in a pot. ❤❤❤❤❤
Cool to see you feeling yourself and talking a bit more. Neat to see what people do with cluck ol' hen. I throw in a time change to 3/4 for the last couple verses. It helps, but you don't have to sing pretty to holler about hens, possums, and old dogs.
Hi friend! It's been day-1 of my banjo adventure today, I just bought me my first little 5 stringed guy. I decided to go for clawhammer first and stumbled upon your channel looking for various instances of said style. Just letting you know that I love this series of yours and that I'll be back for my daily dose of banjo. Thanks for the great content, I've got some work on my hands if I am to ever match you someday Greetings from fareway-France 🪕🍷
Sure wish I had a banjo player at my house!🙂 OT, but do you think you could ever work up a banjo version of "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith? That song would be so cool done on banjo.
this was a good one, the arrangement ive learned of this is not as interesting at all :o Love the look you give ur left hand when they make a small mistake haha
Hi Phoebe - may I ask... how are you selecting your songs to learn? Are they assigned at school? Do you have a stack of old sheet music? Are you being forced to learn songs by your local marauding mosquitoes? The past year I've been very keen on experimenting with better and lesser known folk , bluegrass and blues - so I'm curious what has been inspiring your current journey. Cheers!
Most of these are songs I've learned with my teacher; we typically do everything by ear. Usually he'll play the basic of the song that he knows, and then we'll go digging online for the earliest recordings of the song (slippery hill is our go-to website for that). Then we'll combine the basic version with cool variations from the old sources or that we make up. I'm not sure how he picks the songs we learn though haha. Some songs I've posted are just ones that I've figured out by ear myself because they sounded cool and I wanted to learn them.
Hej Phoebe. Would you allow me to use your creation as background music for my vids? I load up clips of the game I play - Hunt Showdown, a wild west themed shooter and banjo is just what fits perfectly. :) It's absolutely fine if you don't like your tunes in connection to a shooter - I will come here fore a dose of Banjo anyway. :D
How music theory centered is your playing? Do you learn finger position and fingering from tabs, or do you know from memory the chords you are playing before you learn the songs.
Its pretty much all by ear and memory. I have a little notebook with the chords for each tuning jotted down in case I forget, but at this point I rarely need to reference it because its in my muscle memory now. I'm very bad at music theory, something I hope to improve on soon, but for now I avoid it when I can haha.
@@phoebesanders2487 Thanks, that gives me hope. I'm trying to learn chords and some basic music theory, but that's slow going. I mostly just go by tabs. Thanks!
I hope you dont take this too personally, but I find your picture of Columbo just as interesting as your banjo playing....Maybe even MORE so???? I also think you are very cute looking. But I like the playing too.

Wow, You definitely have a wide variety of cultural iconic stimuli in your life. Peter Falk, as "Columbo", was one of my favorite TV shows growing up.
Outstanding!
I'm loving your work. Hopefully 5k subscribers turns in to 500k quickly!
A perfect fit for this moment. Heading back on a bus to my hometown after a working day. As usual, thanks Phoebe!
Absolutely Wonderful!
If we don't get into
the hammock of daily banjo,
It will be nobody's Falk
but our own.

Nice! I need to practice my stank face too. I love it when Jack Black busts out a solo, and his face and guitar are in complete synergistic harmony
Thanks Doc Phoebe...smiles...

Nice! Yeah, I heard, but I won't tell. Do you ever sing? Some of the tunes have words, funny and tragic and epic...

You mean you haven’t practiced this? Wow!

I also think you are very cute looking.
But I like the playing too.
Some odd phasing on this, just like the last video. you might need to look at your audio set up.
