  • Welcome back! Today I prepared rellenos de papa or stuffed potato balls.
    Here are the ingredients:
    5 large potatoes
    1 egg
    Salt to taste
    2 cups of prepared picadillo

      It's great I veganize them using vegan grounds and vegan egg and there the same I always loved these
      Now I can make my own piccadillo. Filling and my own potato balls

    I made this tonight for dinner. It came out great. Long time ago I tried and failed but not tonight. 😂 I never had anyone to teach me growing up and my grandma pass away in 2017. She was amazing cook. Thank you for doing these videos. My felt my grandma tonight.

I'm puerto rican, but my mother doesn't really cook the traditional foods, which I've been dying to learn. Your videos are helping me so much and I love how simple some of these recipes can be. :) I cannot wait to see what else I can learn.

    thank u so much for uploading this recipe on youtube. this is what i missed so much when i was in east harlem, nyc. i always had this whenever i go to puertorican restaurant on east 116th st when i was student there.
    since i cameback to my country, i had no chance to eat rellieno de papa. thank u again that i can cook picadillio and potato balls by myself now!!!!

    I just have to say, Thank You for this amazing recipe!! I had these at a good friend's house at a party and could not get her grandma to give up the recipe.     Delicious, I make these myself.......but there is another alternative for people who are worried about fried food...you can place the balls in a cupcake holder pan and bake them at around 350 to 375 for an hour or until browned.......that way they keep their shape, but don't forget to grease the pan of course before placing the potato balls in them...:)

      Do.you.spray cooking spray in the cups first?
      Do they brown completely all over ?
      Im not fond of fried food
      BUT love these NOT having to fry them WOULD Be GREAT!

My brother bought me a Puerto Rican Cook Book filled with loads of FABULOUS recipes, BUT, watching your vids is not only more Fun, but easier because I can Stop, Rew, FF, etc. and if I had any questions I can reach out...They are so easy to make...I'm gonna be crazy busy tryin lots of recipes...Thanks so much for sharin and the inspiration.     I'm not Puerto Rican, but married one. I have been learning to cook many PR dishes from Ida on her Sweets and beyond channel for over 9 yrs now. This is my husband's favorite! He would eat them everyday if he could. My Piccadillo recipe also came from Ida. Thanks Ida from the bottom of my heart for also making the videos, and also for making them in English as well.     Thanks for this recipe. Lately, I've been having problems finding the right potatoes for my rellenos. I've tried the Russet and Eastern potatoes but the result was the same....a mess!!!! With your idea of microweaving the potatoes, your recipe is THE BEST ONE!!!!

    This image means that your food is blessed my mom was at a creek and found a rock after she pray because she has cancer and a image appeared on the rock it was Jesus cristo face on it , my daughter looked at your Relleno and said that's an ANGEL's face mommy!!!!... God bless you for teaching us how to cook great Puerto Rican food, My parents are from Puerto Rico but I'm from New Jersey. Some food I can cook but not the Rellenos and Sancocho and stuff like that..... Oh well thank you and be blessed..... BTW my mom is still kicking and a feisty Puerto Rican woman LOl

    Thank You so much for posting this video. I was wondering why my Rellenos De Papa kept falling apart when I fried them. They were too soggy and I completely covered them in oil in the deep fryer. After watching your video I Finally made a perfect batch. Thank You!!! :)

      You are so welcome! I need to get some potatoes and the seasoning but I live in the Los Angeles area and It's going to be hard to find Puerto Rican food-stuff. Do you know where I can find those spices in the Goya packets?

    Hola me gusto mucho tu receta de relleno de papas, yo siempre la he hecho con arina hasta que vi tu video gracias es muy facil usando tu receta. La imagen que recibiste es de una nina con el rostro hacia la derecha tapado con su hermoso pelo, aveces tenemos precencias de personas en el hogar y no se dejan ver. Tu pudiste ver la imagen y compartirla. Quizas el mensaje no era para ti. A mi me paso lo mismo con un cristo en mi cocina despues de la muerte de mi papa. Gracias y muchas vendiciones.

      Sweets and Beyond question-- could you use leftover mashed potatoes to make these? The mashed potatoes were made with milk and butter. I am wondering if this would work if I added the corn starch or if it would fall apart.

      Yes you can. Just make sure they're not too watery.
