One particular “purple” company has had so much trouble with faulty poorly made plates. Nice to see a company who has made it easier to remember what to do by color coding the plates. Maybe Tonic has found the best chemical combination too and the plates won’t self destruct after only a few months use! Thank you for the great demo!
Every time I go on tonic's website, I look at this die cutting machine and I tell myself no because I already have too many die-cutting machines as it is which would be manual and electrical but as usual, here comes Vianney with her demos and reviews, then here comes all of my reasoning with myself on why I should have it, whatever it may be at that time!!!! Lol😂😂😂😂👍❤
Just remember that there will always be new products coming out and while trying new stuff is exciting, you're not missing out on anything! I think sometimes we forget to even use our stuff to create beautiful things because we're so distracted by all the new, shiny products that are released.

Oh - I am so happy you got this!!! I did ask if you could! The top can also hold anything like a die. Its flat. The bottom has extra suction cups in case you lose, hence, 'spare' foot. I did cut the white foam to hold my Tangerine on.Please let us know which die-cutting machine you are using going forward. I am so excited!
Hey VC I purchased pretty baby last week through your link and was going to ask you what you thought about it. I couldn't believe you were on it so quickly! YAY! I need another cutting machine like a hole ie the head, but what sold me was the cutting plate issue, and besides she's so pretty!!🤗🤗🤗 One thing you didn't address was the ease of use. I recall CC's Midi Machine and the strength it took. Anyway, it was a little expensive but it will pay for itself eliminating the plate "gobbler"! Thanks for the review!! If I were new to crafting, I would get this machine! Unfortunately, I don't need a new die cutting machine at this point, but the size is good and I love their plate system. They made it as simple as possible. Good job Tonic! Thanks for sharing🤗
I got mine a few days ago. I’m glad you did the demo as I’m lazy to read the instructions. 🤪 I bought this because of the simplicity of the plates. It’s just like the DP Marquis. I have that too. I thought getting the MIDI from CC would be nice but that was a big FAIL for me. I have a lot of die cutting machines including AG Empress (big & small); Gemini (silver); Big Shot Pro; Big shot; Cut N Boss (limited edition); Vegabond 2 and Tim Holtz mini. My favorites and go to are the Marquis, Vegabond 2 and Empress. If the Tangerine came in electric, I would definitely buy it. An electric Tangerine would be the ultimate die cutting machine. I would still like to buy extra set of plates just to have in my stash. I read somewhere that Tonic would replace the plates if they break within the first year of purchase. Thanks again for doing this demo and ALL your demos. Love em all! You have a nice personality and look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
I think it was Crafti Potential who posted that the Spellbinder's Grand Calibur Jr plates work in this machine. The Tangerine plates are 12" long and the Grand Calibur Jr plates are 6" long. Spellbinder's has the complete set of plates (description on page says: This pack of replacement plates includes 5 pieces: base plate, cutting plate, adapter plate, embossing plate and rubber mat. All measure 8 1/2" by 6". Designed to be used in the Journey Grand or Grand Calibur. Not to be used with the Platinum nor Amaze machines.) on sale for $7.50.
I just received these plates from Spellbinders and they are the smaller version of the tangerine plates, of course different colors but can’t beat the price. And you’re correct, it was crafti potential that mentioned these plates. Thanks Linda for mentioning it.

@D Bustard Hi D Bustard, I tired one of AG’s intricate die and it cut great in one pass. I did have to switch the embossing plate to the adapter plate for the DP embossing folder to go through. If the sandwich is to thick the machine won’t let it through. It would be nice if tonic sold smaller plates so we have the option of using either one. But these plates are not bad and very similar in material. I hoped this helped a little. I’m happy the plates don’t warp.
It's hard with embossing folders and 3D embossing folders bc different companies have different thicknesses. I just had to do some weird shimming with an Anna Griffin cut and emboss die. Thanks for introducing me to Tonic and this machine. I don't have a large die cutter and will definitely consider this when purchasing. If the plates don't wear out that is a huge plus for me!
I have had my tangerine for about 3 years, I am in the UK. Before that I had a big shot. The cuts with tangerine have remained sharp and works just as good as the day I received it and... I have NEVER needed to buy new plates!! That's a massive plus for me, they just don't warp! 😀 I just wish that the top plate was see through! Xx

I still go round and round in my head deciding on which machine I will go with when I decide to get a larger machine. Deep score marks are so nice! Most aren't very deep and I tend to sometimes get the line crooked the first time. Very frustrating. I'm not sure what I think about this machine, I think I would have to purchase it to know for sure.

I love the fact that these plates are color coordinated and labeled. We will see how they hold up, but it’s a good start there are a lot of nice features on this machine
I'm late to this party but tomorrow I'm going to a neighbor's card-crafting party and she asked me to bring a large format die-cutting machine. I've had the Tangerine for a while and love it for die-cutting but I rarely emboss anything(partly because another machine I won't name likes to "eat" the thin black rubber embossing mat!) So I pulled out the sandwich instructions for the Tangerine and was nervous about having the cut side down to the thin green embossing mat. I appreciate your demo of using a die or using an embossing folder to emboss, particularly because you showed that it might need a shim for a folder. You're like an "on call" friend, lol, and I always enjoy seeing your videos, although some get me into trouble when I think I "need" something that I hadn't even thought of buying.
Wish I had seen this before I got a Big Shot Plus. I may have gotten this one, although I do not like orange!! I have been very disappointed in my Gemini lately, and my Vagabond bit the dust, so I am going back to a hand crank machine for all the wonderful new Tonic dies!! Love Tonic and so thankful to you, Vianney for introducing me to this wonderful company!😌

I recently just spent a small fortune on the" purple one " and every time I use it I have to google how to use the darn thing!! I am very impressed with the Tangerine and might have to look into selling my purple one and get this sturdy and USER FRIENDLY Tangerine instead!!! Thank you sooo much for this wonderful tutorial!!! Congratulations also on getting the Tangerine! :) I'm loving my Tangerine as it cuts and embosses better than my other large machines (Big Shot, Big Shot Plus, Platinum 6, Vagabond 2, Stampin Up cut & emboss regular and the mini versions). I will keep the Vagabond2 and Big Shot for my BigZ dies collection, and I've found the DP Marquise is the best small machine and I use it a great deal and love it's portability. :) I'll also add that you can use a regular Sizzix Big Shot cutting plate for the top plate when using the xtra-thick Sizzix 3D embossing folders and some of the Fun Stampers Journey/Caliber plates for small plates. I have a lot of A4 embossing folders and love being able to get good embossing from them at last! I do use the green plate as a top plate for other 3D embossing folders.

I haven't found any thin dies or folders that don't work, it's just a matter of trying different combos and sometimes the green plate as a top plate works best, other times with thinner folders the use of the green flexi mat does the trick or the addition of a cardstock shim.
I saw these back in stock and I swear if I had the money available now I would definitely have got one. My hope is to get a Gemini as I’m truly struggling with the hand crank and figured a full size will cover all my needs x
this seems like a great machine to me, you don't need that many plates. the plates of the midi are already broken after 2 turns, the plates for the gemini are also broken and after a few uses they are as crooked as a banana expensive joke on plates. thanks for the review
We had a Tangerine at a scrapbook store I used to work at. My first impressions were: 1. It is SCREAMING CAL TRANS ORANGE! 2. It weighs A TON!!! 3. IT REALLY WORKS GREAT! I don't own one because I just could not get past it's orangeness (I really STRONGLY DISLIKE the color orange...LOLOL You will LOVE IT!
You are so right!! I also strongly dislike the color orange - yuk!! But after having so many problems with CC plates I decided to try the Tangerine. I LOVE it and think the plates are going to be great!! Since I had one piece of orange, and didn't break out in hives or anything bad, I caved and ordered the orange binder in which to store the large Tonic die sets. I would love it if they offered choices of colors - but I guess I'll survive.
Hi, I just purchased the CC Pro machine. After years of using a electronic die cutting machine, the machine could not keep up with the new dies. So it was time to upgrade. I did struggle on my decision on what machine to purchase because I Griffin The order of how to use the plates on the Pro machine is not difficult to use, people need to just read the instructions, and if you want a label you can be write on each plate. This Summer I did a lot of batch cutting on two manual machines and I was so happy to purchase the Pro. Especially the large plate size for batch cutting. If I need something smaller to cut, I am happy to use my DP. Which I discovered through your channel. I don't have a need for the new DP long folders, too much work. Companions machines. Ann Griffin's machine was far more superior when it cut out the intricate dies. That demonstration may play a role in my next purchase. I sure don't want my craft room turning into purple when my favorite color is brown, LOL I just could not help from watching your table rock back and forth and how loud the sound every time you picked up the machine and placed it down. Everyone does craft standing up and I wonder how tall a table needs to be in order for a crafter to crank the handle while sitting. Honestly, I don't believe this machine is design for heavy use everyday. The most important point is that it's so many machines on the market. We as consumers can purchase the machine that works best for oneself. I'm grateful for manual and electronic machines because both plays their own roles. Stay Safe and Healthy. Thanks, Penny

I love this machine for the simple reason that if you are doing a lot of die cutting, you are not going to use that much electricity. Or, if you are in an RV, and want to craft, this is easy to take along.

Wow, what a nice thank you gift. I have never heard of this machine. I was curious about it once you mentioned you got it. It is interesting that there is no platform to set the plates on. It is an interesting design. I for one do not like the color at all but that is just me.
Looks like a good machine. Just one question, is it hard to crank? I had to get an electric machine because I could no longer crank the cuttlebug. Would like a manual machine for travel or when electricity goes out (which is a lot living so far back in the country) Also do you know if the Go Press and Foil machine will fit in this machine?
So, I will follow up on that question as a few people have asked. I didn't find it hard to crank, though. I do not have a go press so I don't know. I'm sorry.
Oh my, thank you for the review. This machine has been on my watch list for a while now. I'm on the fence as to getting it now, or later. My current evolution machine still works, but at the same time, I have a handful of dies that are too big for my current machine. Perhaps I should wait and see... maybe the next round? I'm between a Tangerine or maybe a digital cutting machine, though I don't think I necessarily need either machine right this moment. Random ramble over, but really, thank you. I was kind of surprised at how little information about the Tangerine is out there in terms of reviews.

I really like the looks of this machine. I didn’t realize it had such a large cutting surface. But I’ve got mini cutters, Diamond Press and Anna Griffin; medium, Cuttlebug with plates that are okay right now, WeR revolution with an add on motor; Diamond Press marguise; and the Big Shot Plus. Also have some kind of electronic cutter than I bought several years ago and don’t even remember what it is because for some reason I never use it. Also have a Scan-n-cut DX and a Silhouette both of which rarely get used. So as much as I like it, I think I better not. I want to make it to my 50th anniversary in August without getting a divorce.

This machine and it plates reminds me of the old Spellbinders embossing machine that had there plates just like it but there colors was different colors wonder would they fit this one did I miss it does it comes with dies
Some people say it will fit the spellbinders plates, I wouldn't try it...on top of that I don't have Spellbinders plates! LOL!! It does not come with any dies, just the machine and plates.

How is turning the crank? Is it easy? I was initially going to get the CC Midi until I read the reviews in how difficult it was to turn the handle. I’d rather invest more and get something like this beauty😀
This is a gorgeous machine, I love the bright colors! So, the crank is pretty easy to turn...of course, we have to turn quite a few times to get those big, beautiful, plates through...but it wasn't difficult. (I pulled weeds all weekend (getting ready for planting new veggies), and my hands have been hurting because of it...and I didn't feel any discomfort from the cranking.)
That color would not fit into my antique/old fashioned designed studio. I own a Ellison Accucut machine from 25 plus years ago. Still works like a charm, no plastic parts. Dies are more challenging to get though if I want a variety. I would love to be able to use these dies with my machine. Any ideas on how to do this out there? Building up with a platform is probably worth a try. I can do this with Tim Holtz dies.
Well, it's easy to move around bc it doesn't have huge wings on the sides...but it does weigh about 15 pounds. So, I'm not sure what you features you are looking for as far as portability, but those are my impressions. TYSM!
I am pea green with envy. I really wanted one of these, but with currency exchange and shipping it was going to cost about AUD465. Way..way too much for a manual die cutter. So I cheered myself up by buying the large Gemini from Amazon for AUD245.
That's a tough question as I just got these, but they feel very sturdy and I have heard great things. My Gemini plates are the most problematic plates of all the systems I have, I agree. They also mark up my papers so badly. The Anna Griffin plates have been pretty great, but I don't use her so often as to be able to really compare hers and the CC ones.
Oh, my goodness! You just made me realize...I didn't use an intricate die! I was concentrating on the sandwiches. I will definitely do that next video! TYSM!!
So, yes...and no. Supposedly, if you cut INTO the magnetic mat you will get a cut and emboss at the same time...you will also have a destroyed magnetic mat in short order. LOL!! I have only done that once when I first reviewed it to show how to do it, but I don't ever use it that way.

My favorites and go to are the Marquis, Vegabond 2 and Empress. If the Tangerine came in electric, I would definitely buy it. An electric Tangerine would be the ultimate die cutting machine. I would still like to buy extra set of plates just to have in my stash. I read somewhere that Tonic would replace the plates if they break within the first year of purchase. Thanks again for doing this demo and ALL your demos. Love em all! You have a nice personality and look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
I think it was Crafti Potential who posted that the Spellbinder's Grand Calibur Jr plates work in this machine. The Tangerine plates are 12" long and the Grand Calibur Jr plates are 6" long. Spellbinder's has the complete set of plates (description on page says: This pack of replacement plates includes 5 pieces: base plate, cutting plate, adapter plate, embossing plate and rubber mat. All measure 8 1/2" by 6". Designed to be used in the Journey Grand or Grand Calibur. Not to be used with the Platinum nor Amaze machines.) on sale for $7.50.
I just received these plates from Spellbinders and they are the smaller version of the tangerine plates, of course different colors but can’t beat the price. And you’re correct, it was crafti potential that mentioned these plates. Thanks Linda for mentioning it.

@D Bustard Hi D Bustard, I tired one of AG’s intricate die and it cut great in one pass. I did have to switch the embossing plate to the adapter plate for the DP embossing folder to go through. If the sandwich is to thick the machine won’t let it through. It would be nice if tonic sold smaller plates so we have the option of using either one. But these plates are not bad and very similar in material. I hoped this helped a little. I’m happy the plates don’t warp.
It's hard with embossing folders and 3D embossing folders bc different companies have different thicknesses. I just had to do some weird shimming with an Anna Griffin cut and emboss die. Thanks for introducing me to Tonic and this machine. I don't have a large die cutter and will definitely consider this when purchasing. If the plates don't wear out that is a huge plus for me!
I have had my tangerine for about 3 years, I am in the UK. Before that I had a big shot. The cuts with tangerine have remained sharp and works just as good as the day I received it and...
I have NEVER needed to buy new plates!! That's a massive plus for me, they just don't warp! 😀

I still go round and round in my head deciding on which machine I will go with when I decide to get a larger machine. Tangerine is definitely in the running, so I would love to see how this machine holds up over time for you since I trust what you have to say about a product!

Deep score marks are so nice! Most aren't very deep and I tend to sometimes get the line crooked the first time. Very frustrating. I'm not sure what I think about this machine, I think I would have to purchase it to know for sure.

I love the fact that these plates are color coordinated and labeled. We will see how they hold up, but it’s a good start there are a lot of nice features on this machine

I'm late to this party but tomorrow I'm going to a neighbor's card-crafting party and she asked me to bring a large format die-cutting machine. I've had the Tangerine for a while and love it for die-cutting but I rarely emboss anything(partly because another machine I won't name likes to "eat" the thin black rubber embossing mat!) So I pulled out the sandwich instructions for the Tangerine and was nervous about having the cut side down to the thin green embossing mat. I appreciate your demo of using a die or using an embossing folder to emboss, particularly because you showed that it might need a shim for a folder. You're like an "on call" friend, lol, and I always enjoy seeing your videos, although some get me into trouble when I think I "need" something that I hadn't even thought of buying.
Wish I had seen this before I got a Big Shot Plus. I may have gotten this one, although I do not like orange!! I have been very disappointed in my Gemini lately, and my Vagabond bit the dust, so I am going back to a hand crank machine for all the wonderful new Tonic dies!! Love Tonic and so thankful to you, Vianney for introducing me to this wonderful company!😌

I absolutely LOVE the Tangerine and how easy it is to figure out how to build the sandwich you need for each project!!! I recently just spent a small fortune on the" purple one " and every time I use it I have to google how to use the darn thing!! I am very impressed with the Tangerine and might have to look into selling my purple one and get this sturdy and USER FRIENDLY Tangerine instead!!! Thank you sooo much for this wonderful tutorial!!! Congratulations also on getting the Tangerine! :) I'm loving my Tangerine as it cuts and embosses better than my other large machines (Big Shot, Big Shot Plus, Platinum 6, Vagabond 2, Stampin Up cut & emboss regular and the mini versions). I will keep the Vagabond2 and Big Shot for my BigZ dies collection, and I've found the DP Marquise is the best small machine and I use it a great deal and love it's portability. :) I'll also add that you can use a regular Sizzix Big Shot cutting plate for the top plate when using the xtra-thick Sizzix 3D embossing folders and some of the Fun Stampers Journey/Caliber plates for small plates. I have a lot of A4 embossing folders and love being able to get good embossing from them at last! I do use the green plate as a top plate for other 3D embossing folders.

I haven't found any thin dies or folders that don't work, it's just a matter of trying different combos and sometimes the green plate as a top plate works best, other times with thinner folders the use of the green flexi mat does the trick or the addition of a cardstock shim.

I saw these back in stock and I swear if I had the money available now I would definitely have got one. My hope is to get a Gemini as I’m truly struggling with the hand crank and figured a full size will cover all my needs x

this seems like a great machine to me, you don't need that many plates. the plates of the midi are already broken after 2 turns, the plates for the gemini are also broken and after a few uses they are as crooked as a banana expensive joke on plates. thanks for the review

We had a Tangerine at a scrapbook store I used to work at. My first impressions were: 1. It is SCREAMING CAL TRANS ORANGE! 2. It weighs A TON!!! 3. IT REALLY WORKS GREAT! I don't own one because I just could not get past it's orangeness (I really STRONGLY DISLIKE the color orange...LOLOL You will LOVE IT!
You are so right!! I also strongly dislike the color orange - yuk!! But after having so many problems with CC plates I decided to try the Tangerine. I LOVE it and think the plates are going to be great!! Since I had one piece of orange, and didn't break out in hives or anything bad, I caved and ordered the orange binder in which to store the large Tonic die sets. I would love it if they offered choices of colors - but I guess I'll survive.

I just purchased the CC Pro machine. After years of using a electronic die cutting machine, the machine could not keep up with the new dies. So it was time to upgrade. I did struggle on my decision on what machine to purchase because I Griffin
The order of how to use the plates on the Pro machine is not difficult to use, people need to just read the instructions, and if you want a label you can be write on each plate.
This Summer I did a lot of batch cutting on two manual machines and I was so happy to purchase the Pro. Especially the large plate size for batch cutting. If I need something smaller to cut, I am happy to use my DP. Which I discovered through your channel. I don't have a need for the new DP long folders, too much work.
Companions machines. Ann Griffin's machine was far more superior when it cut out the intricate dies. That demonstration may play a role in my next purchase.
I sure don't want my craft room turning into purple when my favorite color is brown, LOL
I just could not help from watching your table rock back and forth and how loud the sound every time you picked up the machine and placed it down. Everyone does craft standing up and I wonder how tall a table needs to be in order for a crafter to crank the handle while sitting. Honestly, I don't believe this machine is design for heavy use everyday.
The most important point is that it's so many machines on the market. We as consumers can purchase the machine that works best for oneself. I'm grateful for manual and electronic machines because both plays their own roles.

I love this machine for the simple reason that if you are doing a lot of die cutting, you are not going to use that much electricity. Or, if you are in an RV, and want to craft, this is easy to take along.

Wow, what a nice thank you gift. I have never heard of this machine. I was curious about it once you mentioned you got it. It is interesting that there is no platform to set the plates on. It is an interesting design. I for one do not like the color at all but that is just me.

Looks like a good machine. Just one question, is it hard to crank? I had to get an electric machine because I could no longer crank the cuttlebug. Would like a manual machine for travel or when electricity goes out (which is a lot living so far back in the country) Also do you know if the Go Press and Foil machine will fit in this machine?
So, I will follow up on that question as a few people have asked. I didn't find it hard to crank, though. I do not have a go press so I don't know. I'm sorry.
Oh my, thank you for the review. This machine has been on my watch list for a while now. I'm on the fence as to getting it now, or later. My current evolution machine still works, but at the same time, I have a handful of dies that are too big for my current machine. Perhaps I should wait and see... maybe the next round? I'm between a Tangerine or maybe a digital cutting machine, though I don't think I necessarily need either machine right this moment. Random ramble over, but really, thank you. I was kind of surprised at how little information about the Tangerine is out there in terms of reviews.

I really like the looks of this machine. I didn’t realize it had such a large cutting surface. But I’ve got mini cutters, Diamond Press and Anna Griffin; medium, Cuttlebug with plates that are okay right now, WeR revolution with an add on motor; Diamond Press marguise; and the Big Shot Plus. Also have some kind of electronic cutter than I bought several years ago and don’t even remember what it is because for some reason I never use it. Also have a Scan-n-cut DX and a Silhouette both of which rarely get used. So as much as I like it, I think I better not. I want to make it to my 50th anniversary in August without getting a divorce.

This machine and it plates reminds me of the old Spellbinders embossing machine that had there plates just like it but there colors was different colors wonder would they fit this one did I miss it does it comes with dies
Some people say it will fit the spellbinders plates, I wouldn't try it...on top of that I don't have Spellbinders plates! LOL!! It does not come with any dies, just the machine and plates.
This looks like a great machine! Can you put big dies in it such as the ones you need a big Empress for?
As long as the die is about 8 1/4" to 12"! That's the plate size. TYSM!

How is turning the crank? Is it easy? I was initially going to get the CC Midi until I read the reviews in how difficult it was to turn the handle. I’d rather invest more and get something like this beauty😀
This is a gorgeous machine, I love the bright colors! So, the crank is pretty easy to turn...of course, we have to turn quite a few times to get those big, beautiful, plates through...but it wasn't difficult. (I pulled weeds all weekend (getting ready for planting new veggies), and my hands have been hurting because of it...and I didn't feel any discomfort from the cranking.)

That color would not fit into my antique/old fashioned designed studio. I own a Ellison Accucut machine from 25 plus years ago. Still works like a charm, no plastic parts. Dies are more challenging to get though if I want a variety. I would love to be able to use these dies with my machine. Any ideas on how to do this out there? Building up with a platform is probably worth a try. I can do this with Tim Holtz dies.

Well, it's easy to move around bc it doesn't have huge wings on the sides...but it does weigh about 15 pounds. So, I'm not sure what you features you are looking for as far as portability, but those are my impressions. TYSM!
I am pea green with envy. I really wanted one of these, but with currency exchange and shipping it was going to cost about AUD465. Way..way too much for a manual die cutter. So I cheered myself up by buying the large Gemini from Amazon for AUD245.

Of all the die cutting machines which one has the best plates? Very dissatisfied in the Gemini plates.
That's a tough question as I just got these, but they feel very sturdy and I have heard great things. My Gemini plates are the most problematic plates of all the systems I have, I agree. They also mark up my papers so badly. The Anna Griffin plates have been pretty great, but I don't use her so often as to be able to really compare hers and the CC ones.

Could you not have used the rubber mat with the 3D embossing folder instead of adding the paper?
So, the rubber mat is pretty thick...I suppose you could try it...but like I said...I like to start as thin in mats/shims to get the job done.

I don't know, I have a Big Shot...have really never used it. These plates are too big for the regular Big Shot, though.

So, yes...and no. Supposedly, if you cut INTO the magnetic mat you will get a cut and emboss at the same time...you will also have a destroyed magnetic mat in short order. LOL!! I have only done that once when I first reviewed it to show how to do it, but I don't ever use it that way.

It is so orange!!! Not a fan of orange, and it looks top heavy. I am not willing to pay over $200 for a hand crank. And it is so orange. But good for you getting it free. I will stay with my CC and my DP.
Anna G 3d folders are not very 3d. I bought some and sent them back. Very disappointed because the designs are beautiful.
Is that the problem? I totally thought they would be thicker than the regular Spellbinders one I used. I'll have to check my other folders of hers. Maybe that's why lots of people tell me they use hers in the Marquise...where 3D folders are a no-no. TYSM!!
