    That slap and overdrive pairing was a PERFECT fit for that riff. Well done Sir.

    My favorite sound in the Somersault is the "surprise arpeggios" when you crank the depth to nearly max, use a square wave LFO, and then you get pitch shifting of minor thirds (which makes fun diminished arpeggios from long sustained notes)

    • @michaeldmytriw1047
      @michaeldmytriw1047 Місяць тому

      You can make that arpeggio an octave up and down too and other intervals in between. The pitch up and down is always symmetrical.

      @@michaeldmytriw1047 That wasn't my experience with Somersault... the depth won't go quite that high (and I desperately want this sound-I'm a Chase Bliss Thermae superfan and love the sound of octaves from pitch shifted delay).

    There is not a bad Caroline pedal. My favorite delay is still the Kilobyte. I'm tempted to try out a Somersault ❤

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  Місяць тому +1

      Totally agree. All of their pedals are so well voiced and so much fun to use. Kilobyte is definitely a fave here as well. And if you enjoy that one, then you'll love Somersault :)

      Delay is my fav effect and the Kilobyte is my fav delay ever. So maybe my fav pedal? Can do everything from clean digital, to analog slapback, to tape wash. And well.

    I'll take "short pedal demos that make me want to pick up my guitar and play" for 500, Alex. 🎸

    This is my favourite type of video from your channel. It is very inspiring to think (and hear) unusual ways of using pedals and their pairings. Hoping you'll make more of this!

      Really cool to hear you enjoy the new video format. My favorite thing is to push pedals to where you didn't expect they could go. So thought it was about time to create a dedicated demo format for that. More is definitely on the way :) Thanks again!

    Fantastic! I especially love the added effect of the Westwood. Every time I watch one of your pedal reviews I'm happy. - I do have a complaint though... I'm in the USA (Oregon) and you don't sell to the US. I buy 2-4 pedals a year, and I'd happily shop at pedal zone if you had a US site or drop-shipped here. Thanks again for a FANTASTIC quick look at new things the Somersault can do.

    Can you just make a video every week of you messing around with the Somersault?
    I didnt want the video to end

      Haha! There's definitely a lot of sounds to explore in that thing. Wouldn't mind revisiting it again at some point. Seriously an amazing sounding chorus pedal. I also have a full demo of it on my channel, if you haven't checked it out :) Thanks for enjoying the video so much. Means a lot to me!

    Great playing! I bought this pedal because of an earlier demo you did, and this is a new dimension I didn't know the pedal had. Thanks for the inspiration!

    That was so entertaining, informative, and inspiring! If you turn the delay speed down you can a great doubling effect. It is, dare I say, “Randy Rhodesesque!”

      Thank you! Really happy to hear you enjoyed the video so much, and thanks for chipping in with your own favorite way to use Somersault. This pedal contains so many awesome sounds. Pretty spectacular how much they managed to pack into a fairly simple user interface.

    The Somersault also stacks in cool ways with the Boss CE-2 to create even more unique chorus sounds

      Stacking chorus’ is fun! Definitely a lot of unique tones available that way. Maybe a topic for a future Tonal Teamwork 😊

    I think Somersault is the best Caroline pedal and this sound is the reason why. I sold my Strymon Deco because the Somersault approximates the same sort of modulated double-tracking sound so well. Super fun modulation pedal. Also, love seeing you play a Balaguer guitar in the video. They're a great Pennsylvania-based company, and I was actually in their original IndieGoGo launch video. They've had a few fun pedals over the years as well, particularly the Cosmovoid.
