Love shorts! But they’re not appropriate in some situations, and definitely more hot than a loose dress.

I love capris that are slim cut but not tight....with a flowy breezy top... and a sun hat with big sunglasses. Nothing tight or small or fitted. Shorts just don't seem to be in vogue for any age that I can think of. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen many dressy shorts for sail I don't think I've seen women wear shorts here in the evening or in any kind of social setting unless it's very casual like a picnic. And yes, the Greek islands would be lovely in the backdrop with another budget

I tend to style myself "safari/colonial" in the heat. Lol! I think the cotton is key. Cotton underwear too.

I love the way you don't use young and slim models to model the dresses supposedly for mature aged ladies. You look lovely.
In really hot weather, I find that close fitting clothing like shorts or trousers are much too warm, and so my choice is then a floaty skirt or dress. Your pink wrap skirt is gorgeous.

At 68 years of age, I love skirts and dresses for summer. So feminine and much cooler for me temperature wise.

My go to when I don’t want to wear shorts are linen pants. They are so classy and perfect for sitting down in a hot car, I don’t burn the backs of my thighs on the seat!

Number 1 I’m so happy about this video as I’m no longer wearing shorts. Being in my mid-70’s and after knee surgery I’m not comfortable with the look. The blue dress is soooo pretty, I looked at the website and amhappy to see it also comes in “petite” but sold out. (Only 5’ 1”). Thanks again and your flower arrangement is amazing 🎉😮

At age 78 and a neglect of upper arm exercises I am dealing with wrinkly and crepy skin. Although I’m working on getting them back into shape I’m always on the lookout (as a Fl. Resident) for the type of sleeve that will help disguise this problem.

As always, these clothes look great on you, but you have a great figure and legs. What about those of us who are a little pear shaped with narrow shoulders? The maxi dress is about the only option; ankle length pants seem to only draw attention to the hips by making the legs look shorter and it still shows the veins in the ankles and lower leg. I just wish someone would show clothes on women with real-world issues, not just the ones who don't have these to deal with.

I love the dresses you shared. The blue and white one was my favorite. I wear Bermuda shorts everyday it’s warm. My legs aren’t the best. But it’s hot where I live so I don’t really care. I still wear my shorts. Well, now I love the pink skirt too. I’ve thought about buying some shorts. But they have to be longer like my Bermuda shorts. I have seen some that are way shorter. I love the outfit with the skorts and the blazer. That looked great. The pants you shared were nice too. But I have a lot of pants I’ll be wearing when it cools down a bit. I really hope we have a fall this year. Not just summer to winter.

I really love that blue & white dress, it suits you so much, really nice. Personally I don't like shorts and my way of keeping cool is fine gauge wide leg trousers in linen or any other breathable fabric, I also love wide leg just above ankle not quite culottes but very flattering, plain or paisley type patterns, they suit my shape and I always feel good and remain cool. Absolutely love balloon sleeve maxi dresses as well with a 70's vibe and metallic espadrille wedges Xx

I love wearing shorts in summer but only in more casual situations. While sightseeing I would never visit a church in shorts!
Ankle grazer trousers is my favourite outfit especially for work on summer.
Summer dresses are perfect for holidays. However, I rarely choose maxi ones. A knee- length-dress is usually my choice. 😊

I love the maxi dresses but was very surprised to see the substantially high prices! Would love more affordable options. Your ideas and tips are wonderful and I will certainly search for more economical lookalikes. I am a young looking 73 year old widow (5’4” and 117 lbs) and love comfortable flattering clothes. I love dresses but now finally after some kind of eating disorder am on fat free diet especially after laparoscopy gallbladder just want to stay healthy and weight used to be. Beautiful outfits❤

For me .. i cant decide on why .. I have an idea of what I like and why .. but I cant shop for trends.. usually I work best in second hand .. and I love the classics .. but the shorts I where the most is a classic linen black pair ( high waist … relaxed) .. I’m rectangular so relaxed with long lines are super .. i usually pair the shorts with a cardigan or oversized straight blouse .. preferably in linen or cotton ( mixed a bit to not wrinkle extensively) 😀
As you get older, waste lines don't "hold up " I love dresses with bike shorts. You can even get bike shorts with tummy tuck. Just beginning to find maxi dresses for summer now that fall is coming.

My go to is Loft's swing dress with sneakers. I'm 5'4" also so their regular is knee length. I usually wear bike shorts underneath when I want to play with the grandkids.

Yes you can! I think if you style it correctly and select a maxi dress that has a fairly small pattern or even in one single colour, with a v neck and not too much volume in the lower part, it would look lovely on you. XX

I’ve only worn cotton since I was a child, didn’t like the feel of anything else and I’m allergic to wool.
The thing with cotton summer clothing, most of them can be see through and I wouldn’t want to wear an additional layer underneath because of the hot weather. It’s very difficult to find the perfect fabric thickness.
Yes, I do understand this. I think if you go for good quality brands you will be more likely to get non-see through cotton fabrics. XX

I don’t know, I love white shoes. I’m so glad they’re finally back, I missed them. They give me that nostalgia from the 60s and 70s, when I was growing up; the big ladies, as we called adult women, all wore them. Especially with square toes, yes, yes❤

I have found with skorts it really depends on the size of your thighs whether they rise or not mine do rise when I walk.
Love the pant above the ankle, but I can’t wear it flared and that’s all I see in stores
Suggestion if you are wear a maxi dress or skirt and you are worried about "chub rub" (my thighs sometimes stick together when it's really hot). There is runners long shorts called Runderwear. Very light weight. if you can find cotton cycling shorts, those work too, just make sure they are ver light-weight.
My step-daughter told me about another company whose name (of course) I can't remember. She is a plus size girl heat is not her friend.
Also Gilde For Her or regular Glide in general. I've known ladiesot have good success with antiperspirants. I've also use Chamois Butt'r which is for cyclist's shorts but it works. I used it in Savannah, Georgia in July where the weather is very hot and humid.

I have a question about ankle grazing trousers. Where on your leg should they end to be the chic ankle grazer look, rather than cropped. I have long legs and always buy the long sizes for trousers. But I struggle to get my head around deliberately buying trousers "short" so they don't look wrong on me.

How do you handle sheerness? I get so worried about dresses and skirts being see through - especially white ones. I recently moved to Singapore and it’s hot and humid so vests and petticoats are not an option for me. I invested in a lot of long linen trousers, but find I’m too hot even in those. It’s super hot. I’d love some tips on dressing when it’s really, really stinking hot 😂

I don’t like those skorts with the polyester panty in them, they’re too hot. I can usually find a short skirt that works better for me, in all-breathable fabrics.
I don't like maxi when they drag on the ground. So then I prefer a midi instead. It shoes off your footwear as well.

I’ve just turned 55 and am self conscious of wearing shorts out at my age but am to petite to wear long dresses. To be fair, you’re tall compared to me at 5 foot and dresses and skirts just swamp my small frame. I just got around in pants most of the time, a safe option.
I am 5.1 so just an inch taller than you. I do wear maxi dresses and love them. The trick is to choose a dress not too long as Diedre said but also not with too much material ...so that it doesn't swamp you. Avoid lots of fussy ruffles on the skirt part. So you need an a line style one. It's difficult to explain. But the ones that don't suit me are the ones that have been on trend for a while like the bo ho style ones...(the kind of oversized dress). I think that yes they do swamp a small frame. My other tip is to wear a heel with a maxi dress when you are short. Even a small heel is ok
@@ter17nicfab99 I don’t like dresses anyway, never have so it isn’t a problem. The rule still states that petite women shouldn’t wear long things and I stick to that.
Very expensive dresses when you're a senior on a fixed income! Also no plus sizes
Maxi only looks good on taller ladies. On the vertically challenged (me) they look like borrowed clothing
