My wife and I adopted a beautiful brown tortoiseshell Main Coon girl from a County Animal Shelter five years ago. Her name is Angel, and she id one of the sweetest, most loving and most intelligent beings we've ever met. We are extremely fortunate to have her as a family member! We love your videos.
Both breeds are beautiful cats. However, the Ragdoll is my favorite breed. I love the blue eyes, the soft silky fur, and the cuddle factor of the ragdoll. Thanks for the information. Gina Hetlage 🐱🐈🐈⬛
I have 2 rescue Ragdolls. I love their cuddliness and also that the younger one truly acts like a puppy sometimes! Not only do both come if I call their names, but the younger is so curious she gets into everything! Open cabinets, the dishwasher when I'm loading or unloading the dishes, etc etc. She has to see what I'm doing all the time. I've been on Zoom often for work the last couple of years and most people have seen her repeatedly try to get on my lap or she'll walk behind the laptop and her tail hangs over the camera! LOL
My brother saved two stray kittens at different times about 3 months apart a few years ago . and we think their Maine coon kittens their so fluffy they look like Maine coons their about six years old now and so cute. I have always adopted my pets from the pound /Shelter it's great giving an animal a second chance in love and care .
Maine Coons have had my heart for over 20 years. They are the most Amazing bread of cats, their bond and dedication of love to their bonded human is simply incredible. I am not that familiar with Ragdolls but I think they also seem pretty amazing and fantastic as well! Thank you So much for this video! I have subscribed❤
i love ragdolls more cuz of their fur color and those adorable blue eyes, those two go together so well, also they are kind of like a dog personality wise, but they are eternally a puppy (cuz of size) which i also really find adorable. Also they love sitting on your lap.
I've long wanted a Ragdoll cat, but ended up getting a Maine Coon after getting married. As it turns out, I now love the Maine Coon more. My little guy is just 12month’s old, and he's one of the closest friends of my family. He's such a sweet, playful, and curious baby who absolutely loves people. 😊 2:45 can’t agree more. He loves ppl, and always wants to be with us but tends to keep some distance also lol
Didn't found out that my over 19yrs old Myla was a Ragdoll until she passed away. She fell on a box unevenly and probably got the Hip Dysplasia. She was senile by the end but was still a loyal cat especially when I was going thru my Leukemia cancer treatment&Bone Marrow transplant recovery over some yrs before. She outlasted her sister Lambkin cat Snowy of 17yrs by over a couple more yrs.
It was nice seeing the side by side “compare and contrast” of two really nice breeds…but naturally we are partial to the two stars of your channel! Jasper and Austen are about 9 pounds and a bit smaller than Matthew, who was taller and longer. I tried looking at other breeds including Bombay and Devon Rex, but came back to my Siamese habit, especially when I found their breeder, “Black Thai” as our old style or classic Siamese cats are now officially “Thai” Cats! Cheers! Michael Albuquerque NM
Michael it’s nice to hear from you! I have yet to meet a Bombay cat. Love to see what they are like. Were you able to meet one? How is Austen, Jasper, and Matthew doing!
@@TheCatButler Hi! I never got to meet a Bombay but they were on my list! Devon Rex look like little elves, don’t they? I would love to meet some one day. Aussie and Jasper are such a tight unit, I wonder how they might accept a kitten in the future? I mention my previous Siamese Matthew a lot; he lived to almost 22 - but no worries he is with me every day and his photo is still the screensaver on my iPhone! Hildy is Austen and Jasper’s baby sister Dachshund and she fills out our furry family for now!
My Rag doll is a beautiful mitted lilac. I was fortunate in finding him at a shelter because his previous owner passed away. He was two when I got him. He’s the most gentle, beautiful cat I’ve ever had. I love all cats, so any cat is my favorite.😻
13 years ago i used to have this very fluffy cat called katty, we rescued her from the street, she was very fluffy, had amber eyes and her coat color was white with orange spots. I never knew what her breed was, but she looked similar to a maine coon. she was kind, playful and was she was so sweet, i still miss her to this day..
I got lucky many years ago. The local "dog pound" had 3 tiny kittens. They were 5 weeks old and had been there since they were 3 weeks - no mother. I got a female, expecting that it was just a common cat. It wasn't until Licorice got to be about 2 years old that I realized she had a different silhouette. She was at least part Mainecoon and was a delight. Very different from the first cats I had had. She did develop diabetes later in life and received insulin shots until I tried some canned pate cat food, which had lower carbs than the diabetic cat food had. I was able to take her off insulin for a yr and a half before it came back. When I was looking for another cat this time (after a spoiled rotten calico) I wanted a Mainecoon but will have to get it from a shelter. Can't afford a purebred. Your cats are beautiful! I enjoy the video and subscribed.
Hey Monica thanks for sharing your story! Loved reading it. Licorice sounds like a beautiful cat. I wish you the best of luck in getting a Mainecoon! They truly are beautiful :)
Very interesting. I like them both because they are both beautiful and they're cats! But I like the gentle face of the ragdoll. I wish they came in darker colours.
I had a Ragdoll that my mom got from Ann Baker in 1971. I had him from 1971 to 1991. His mother was Josephine (which was a Turkish Angora/Persian I believe) and Daddy Warbucks (I believe, but not as sure about the sire as I am about the dame). He lived twenty years and at that he didn't even die of natural causes, but rather by a fool of a drunken neighbor. I missed that cat so much that I just got two last year from original lines.
@@TheCatButler I got my two current Ragdolls from a breeder in San Diego "Ragmeister Ragdolls" who claim on their website that their cats come from original lines from Ann Baker. A friend brought us a white 2 year old cat that had been abandoned in northern Minnesota 15 years ago. He fell out of a tree up there trying to get away from an attacking dog, had a herniated kidney as a result and was operated on by a kind Vet. So, he had one kidney and apparently the previous owners had declawed and neutered him. He developed the markings of a flame point, had beautiful blue eyes and has a wonderful personality. Our Vet said he is a Ragdoll. Surprise! Lucky us! We call him “Bad Boy” and he answers to it!😂
Im picking up my first ragdoll kitten on the first week of October. I've had and fosteted mogies my whole life, and i prided myself on raising the most friendly kittens. This is my first time with a particular breed. I'm partial of big fluffy cats, and was excited about the famed ragdoll friendliness. I looked for a breeder that showed ragdoll cats, had big fluffs(his dad was over 10kgs), but my biggest top priority when adopting any cat is looking for a breeder that raised the kittens in a warm home with respectful children who play with the kittens (bonus if they have a friendly dog). I recently met a ragdoll Siamese mix and I can't deny how soft and adorable he was. But I still have a hard time grasping the breeding of cats as a product when there are so many other beautiful, lovable, and very adoptable cats you can adopt from rescues and shelters without excessive costs. Also it seems like breeding causes health issues as mentioned. I know a lot of passionate cat lovers will curse breeding and breeders, and I agree with them on a lot of points. But interacting with a bred cat I kind of get it, they are so fluffy and cute, and their behavior is more predictable. But at the same time there are so many cute, fluffy, loving cats locked up in shelters. I don't think people who buy cats should be shamed for doing so, after all having a pet for most people is for the humans moreso than the animal. That being said, I also think people should at least consider just adopting from a local shelter. I know animals in some people's eyes are more of a product, a possession, which is fine. But I wonder if people who have bought expensive cats would reconsider if they were aware of how many cats get euthanized in shelters, and how many adorable, and even fluffy cats are ready to find a human home to live in. Just food for thought. 😻😻😻
James, Please allow me to correct you on something and enlighten you on another. There are different types of breeders and buyers each with their own agenda. Regarding breeders, they generally fall into three camps. One is a backyard breeder who for various reasons wants to breed animals with a very shallow reasoning... 1) "I just love kitties, puppies (whatever) and I want to breed them to make more of them", or " I can breed them easy and make money". This type of breeder is of low intelligence and/or poor character and has a superficial regard for the animal itself. 2) The next is a poor quality breeder who is actually making an effort to become a breeder, but also had superficial understand of what is necessary to become one. 3) Here you have the reputable and registered breeder who main purpose is to improve and promote the breed. This breeder will remove animals from the breeding pool that may have defects like genetic health defects. An example is Ragdolls and Main Coons can have HCM which is a genetic heart defect. By removing them from the breeder pool, you can potentially remove that health defect entirely. This is what reputable breeders do and it costs more money than it's worth in most cases with vaccinations, screening, training, socializing etc. It's a passion for the breed that moves them. If someone just wants a cat and doesn't care about anything else than that, then by all means I hope they save some cat from the pound. But the pound is you're going to find a lot more defective pets due to indiscriminate breeding. They need love and a home too, but this isn't where you find the healthiest pets or the ones that improve or maintain the breed standard. If no one upholds breed standards, those breeds will cease to exist.
@@fionnmaccumhaill3257 First, thank you for NOT being hostile. Its rare and very refreshing to have civil conversations about controversial topics online these days. Second, thank you for the insights. I definitely agree that cats from shelters frequently come with health challenges and/or trauma which can make them less ideal pets. So, I guess the important thing is if you're gonna breed, get educated/trained before doing so. I can also see the value of maintaining a breed. While I still think adoption from a rescue/pound should at least be considered I can definitely empathize more with those who choose to buy.
@@jamesclawson9243 James, Yes I agree, civil discourse is an important element missing in today's society, especially in the internet. Also, I agree with you that the pound or shelters should be the first consideration of anyone seeking a pet. The needs of desires of someone seeking a pure bred animal is not necessary the same as someone just seeking a pet. I do believe every shelter animal should be fixed (I think that is already standard). These animals deserved human compassion and should have first crack at loving homes. So to me, shelters should be a primary option because I believe the bulk of pet seekers fall into this category. Finally, ...education. Both pet seekers and potential breeders need this. Quite often people who get a new pet end up disillusioned because of false or incomplete expectations. They in fact don't really know all that comes with owning a pet, especially puppies or kittens and all that's involved, particularly the necessary time investment required. Another thing is if they got a particular breed, each breed has its own particular requirements and behavior patterns. These must be taken into consideration. For example, if you live in an apartment and you want a small dog, a beagle should not be a consideration because it is a "baying dog". This means it bred for the purpose of hunting and in particular, scaring prey by barking. This means they bark a lot! The owners and the neighbors would not likely be pleased with this, but it is this animals natural instinct.
I like Rag doll because i want them to be in my lap (and my arms). I want a smaller cat so i want a rag doll cat! I hope i didn't get the spellinh wrong, even if i did get the spelling wrong i just want to hope that you guys don't mind. Love your videos! Because i am 8 years old. I'm almost positive I have a flame🔥 point RAG DOLL like yours. My cat looks exactly like your 2 beautiful cats. I just got the DNA test from The company BASEPAWS. So I will be able to find out for sure his breed. Anyway can you tell me will I be able to find out any defects from this test or Forseeable future health issues🐈❓️ Thanks Gina
Hey so my cats are cream so maybe yours is cream too! At least that is what the official cat association says. Oh nice yeah Basepaws tells you what breed your cat leans towards. I did a test myself to test the product and Teemo was almost 100% ragdoll, so it works! So they claim they can find genetic defects, but I didn't test it with a test from the UC Vet School. So I am not sure. UC Davis is the gold standard in terms of genetic tests for cats. Hope that helps! I added links to their tests in the description.
Yes that is Arya! She is usually skinnier than Teemo. Teemo is a large fellow. You can also look at cream coloring on her forehead, its darker than Teemos.
Hmm it could be the diet. Diets rich in protein and moisture like a raw meat diet helps with their coats and reduce fur falling out. hope that helps! From what I have seen cats on dry food tend to have lots of fur fall out.
I recently found out that my dad had cats a kid so he isn’t allergic to them like he is to dogs so we might be getting one when we move into out new house
I saw your ragdolls playing with a toy that looked like a wooden box with cut outs and some balls inside. Would you be willing to let me know where you got it? I think my ragdoll would enjoy it. Thank you
Hey I got it from here: www.etsy.com/listing/961047896/cat-toy-furniture-kitten-square-ball?ref=yr_purchases, hope your cats enjoy it! Mine certainly do.
They are both adorable, pet quality kittens have a minor cosmetic flaw, for example if its a ragdoll it may not have blue eyes or maybe they have a misplaced marking or something like that, this wont affect the cats temperament or health, i would personally get pet quality unless, you want your pet to participate in a show or something like that

He sounds like the cutest mitted ragdoll cat, i mean, he is ONE year old and STILL acts like a KITTEN‽ Oh my gosh, i want to adopt him or atleast play with him right now!

Yayyyyyyy
edit: OMG THIS IS THE 2nd TIME I GOT LIKED!!! OMG!!!
James,
Please allow me to correct you on something and enlighten you on another.

James,
Yes I agree, civil discourse is an important element missing in today's society, especially in the internet.
@@fionnmaccumhaill3257 Very well said! I completely agree
I just got both 😻
Yay!
I got a mix between a Maine Coon and a Ragdoll, because i couldn't choose xD
wow pretty! :D
I try to convince my dad to adopt a kitten. My mom who is scared of cats, showed me a picture of two siblings that is a female and a male, they are so cute and we could adopt them if my dad allowes!
That is amazing! No your spelling is so good :) better than most adults!
@@TheCatButler we are trying really hard to convince our mom to buy us a ragdoll cat cause my dad, uncle and everybody is saying ragdoll cats are boring...My mom hasn't decided yet so i really hope she gets a ragdoll cat :)
I’ve never got a cat because my mom doesn’t allow us to bring cats in so we just make the cats out but I prefer ragdolls
i would choose maine coon.
One of each please.
YES!
You can get cats dna tested? I wanna know our breeds
2:12 ragdolls will greet you, meanwhile ragdolls proving cats are cats

thats arya right, ive watched literally every single video and i still cant tell who is who unless they are standing right next to each other lol
Yes that is Arya! She is usually skinnier than Teemo. Teemo is a large fellow. You can also look at cream coloring on her forehead, its darker than Teemos.
My cat fur is falling a lot ..what advice can you give me on that
Hmm it could be the diet. Diets rich in protein and moisture like a raw meat diet helps with their coats and reduce fur falling out. hope that helps!
From what I have seen cats on dry food tend to have lots of fur fall out.
I like Ragdoll breed.
:D
I do Ragdoll all the way!

I saw your ragdolls playing with a toy that looked like a wooden box with cut outs and some balls inside. Would you be willing to let me know where you got it? I think my ragdoll would enjoy it. Thank you

@@TheCatButler thank you so much
What are the difference between pet quality and show quality?
They are both adorable, pet quality kittens have a minor cosmetic flaw, for example if its a ragdoll it may not have blue eyes or maybe they have a misplaced marking or something like that, this wont affect the cats temperament or health, i would personally get pet quality unless, you want your pet to participate in a show or something like that
also show quality cats are more expensive
Orcus is right on!
1 big thumbs up
RAGDOLL

You store is so expensive 😎I need my daddy first

good catch! I put it in the description
@@TheCatButler No worries, and I appreciate you raising awareness on the matter. I adopted a one year old beautiful blue maine coon who was a failed showcat, he was born with a lodged testicle. We never thought to ask if the owner had him scanned for HCM. Two months ago at the age of five, my beautiful, healthy boy passed in his sleep.
I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Can a rag doll have light gray eyes
A Purebred or traditional Ragdolls cannot have light gray eyes, it has to be blue. Hope that helps!
Maine Coons are obviously an American breed taken from Russian and Norwegian forest cats.
