    Everyone saying "this is ridiculous from an engineering perspective and buildings can't combine together magically and you need an incredible suspension of disbelief" doesn't get the point. It's a FANTASY game, and the campus buildings very well COULD'VE combined magically because MAGIC EXISTS in the world of FInal Fantasy 8, they could've used magic to combine them, and it already looks like the Garden used magic to transform to begin with! Magic combined with technology, specifically. There's mechanical, electrical, AND magical parts to it.

      the engineer guy she was sorcerer… She has enough those abilities did same thing, same time…. lightning collected things wasn’t for using when balamb being attacked. That was soldiers from main theme. very goodluck

      It's a game where the very first mission is fighting a giant fire monster. Realism want out the window right there.

      There are people making this argument? Lol. It's a FINAL FANTASY game. I mean hell you fight a nearly omnipotent sorceress seeking to compress all of time for gods sake. Is any of that "believable"? Lol. The entire FF franchise in a nutshell is "complete suspension of disbelief". People don't play it for it's realism - they play it for the fantastical stories the games convey. I get why some people hate on FF8 in particular - FF7 was a hard act to follow and it seems like 8 struggled to properly balance the technological "steam punk" vibe that was so prevalent in 7 with the return to more of a fantasy setting that later FFs were returning to, but a need for "suspension of disbelief" would not be the reason I cite for that personally lol.

    Also am I the ONLY one who noticed how fast the explosion from the missile base moves? It looks weird to move that fast.

      @@Fueyer-Foxloyal-heart4heart88 Sorry for the super-late reply, but the explosion looks weird because it looks like the frame rate on the scene where the base explodes, the one where you see the WHOLE base, is very low, because the explosion moves in a very choppy looking way.

    Galbadia probably copied Balamb's transformation when they figured their garden could probably do the same 😂

      Of course, all Gardens can do that, since they are based on ancient Esthar technology, It is a shame nobody knew about it, or how to activate it when Trabia Garden got hit

    There's a lot of flaws I have with FF8 that keep it from being a masterpiece in my eyes. But this moment is one of the best moments in gaming for me, and FF8 makes it work so well.

    So even though we changed the missile settings in the base, they still hit EXACTLY where Garden was??

      @@Luzitanium Well surely, if he'd have hit the button, that would have done a "reset" and they'd have hit the Garden as per original settings.
      So what are you saying the button did?

    • @fiftysquiggly
      @fiftysquiggly Рік тому +1

      I don't think they hit "exactly" where the garden was. I think the reason the garden survived was a combination of a.) it's slight movement forward and b.) the actions of the missile base crew. If you notice most of the missiles hit AROUND where the Garden was, not directly where the garden was. If the garden hadn't been moving it likely would have still taken damage but it wouldn't have been a direct hit. What the team in the missile base did was increase the targeting system's margin for error making it more difficult for it to get a direct hit but the coordinates were still correct. Because the garden was moving, in addition to the modified margin of error, the missiles missed completely. Compare this to Trabia Garden whose missiles were fired before the team could infiltrate and sabotage the launch - Selfie says specifically when visiting Trabia later that it was "a direct hit".

    i know this is a fantasy game but holy shit the whole transformation scene was ridiculously illogical and required a great deal of suspension of disbelief from an engineering perspective. but hey it looked cool back in the day.

      @@Luzitanium I think they're referring to the fantastical transformation of Balamb Garden. If you look at the renders and maps of the Garden before it transforms you'll see it's a big campus building in the middle with around 7 smaller buildings located around 50 meters away connected by hallways. Not to mention the grounds around these areas.
      When Garden transforms, all of these exterior buildings magically combine into the main building and the hallways disappear. If you really tried to think about it you really need to have a suspension of disbelief!

      Yea I always thought it was stupid. But maybe it was meant to be and Squall death dream theory is true. I think I remember them saying Balamb Garden had a bomb shelter or something not that it was mobile.

    • @kinichi20
      @kinichi20 3 роки тому

      also, the Garden was facing the other way, it had to do a 180° turn while the missiles are on the way to collide with Balamb scene and then go to the ocean 😂

    • @WinVisten
      @WinVisten 2 роки тому

      @@kinichi20 To be fair, it "magically" doing this could've been just that- MAGIC, because magic DOES exist in this universe.
      Also, when it shows the Garden from above before it kicks up that huge dust cloud, it looks like it IS turning around.
