Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for filming the Rim trail at Mt. Wilson. In the late 90's I used to frequent this trail, starting from the Golf Course to Mt. Wilson Toll Road to Rim Trail to Gabrielino Trail stop at Chantry Flats store to get a quick snack and back to the golf course area. Back then, I don't ever recall seeing so much over grown vegetation. Thanks for filming the memorial of USFS volunteer at newcombs pass. I got such a big thrill whenever I visited Sturtevant camp. My bucket list is to stay the night in a cabin at sturtevant camp. Thanks!!!
You are welcome. That sounds like a very challenging loop you use to do from the golf course. Chantry Flats and Sturtevant have been closed for a few years now, but I heard they may open up October 1st this year. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Great adventure... Beautiful flowers along the way. You all made it... Your buddy has the best name in the world... 😂 Enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing. Take care David F. 🇺🇲
Thanks for joining Jason. This was definitely more of an obstacle course than a hiking trail 😂 I got a bad case of poison oak that kept me scratching for days.
So amazing to see the West Fork and it's canyons doing so well after the Bobcat fire. Did a trip fairly similar to this one in 2019 as well and had stayed the night at Valley Forge before hiking up Wilson the next day. It looks even healthier since then! Definitely an underrated River in the San Gabriels.

Great to see a lesser used trail so close to home! Nice job.
Thanks! I've passed by the trailhead of the Rim trail so many times that I finally decided to check it out.

Thanks Jason. I had a feeling you would like my friends name 🤣 Cheers!
David, Thanks for taking me on the trip. It was quite an adventure despite all the obstacles we encountered. 😉

I was also surprised to how well the area is doing after the fire. I'm sure the wildlife must be enjoying it. Cheers!
Awesome video. Was this your first time doing it? Looks like you can get turned around and lost pretty quick!
Thanks, and yes it was my first time. Without GPS it would be very easy to get lost.
@@davidfeiler1279 what kind of GPS do you carry on these hikes?
@@rodgea3103 I just use an app on my phone called Alltrails. Just make sure to download the map before you go offline.
Probably walked through lots of poison oak, yes?
You are correct sir. Also some poodle dog as well. I was itching for at least a week after this trip.
