My aunt taught me this. I also root cuttings in potting soil indoors as soon as the fig tree loses its leaves before winter. I root the cuttings under a grow bulb and they grow leaves and in early spring they already have nice roots and leaves so the plants grow very big in the ground the first year. My new fig tree already has two one meter length branches since March 10 when I planted it outside. Mulberry trees can be rooted too to give away or plant more to feed people in the future and help animals & birds. Next spring I will take rooted fruit tree cuttings to a small rural church and a small store to give to the community. Some have no money to get them.
