@@Ιωσήφ-σ2λ Actually there's a special commandment to love and help out converts up to three generations, we do try to discourage people from converting because it's not the point for everyone to convert, in the Jewish belief system god has a separate blueprint for non-Jews with 7 commandments, and because, unlike any other religion, there's no quitting this one and it's hard to keep, only people who don't let go can be converted because than we know they take it seriously
try to do some more research, you'll be amazed! Good luck!

While I agree that there are times when it could be best for a Jew to vote Conservative, we must remember that it is the Torah, not politics, that dictates our values. The Torah is independent from modern political philosophy. Therefor when supporting a political cause we must do when it is best from a Torah standpoint to do so.

@@campaignerfortruth7527 According to Rabbi Feinstein - Jews have an obligation to vote in such a way that they will do the most good for their community. And he called it an exercise in “nosei b’ol ha-tzibbur”-the rabbis command one not only not to shirk community responsibility, but to seek out ways in which one may help ease the community’s burdens.

With Rabbi Efram Goldberg who in an interview with Zev Brenner mentions a case where a Poske felt that he spoke to a woman was "obligated to have an abortion" because she may become suicidal which sounded very inappropriate to force a woman to have an abortion which maybe she felt she was up to it and to use her past psychological problems against her. That shul has much misogyny it seems and being the state government approved shul that knows powerful populist politicians. A shul that has no problem working with Christians who openly admit of trying to aggressively proselytize.

I don't know if you'll read this but re T'fila/Davening: 2 points to make and a comment.
    1. Man (applies to all of us humans) was created with speech when he was alone. The first useful speaking, was him praying/Davening. This shows that unlike what we think, the primary purpose of being able to talk IS to converse with G-d, NOT other people. That came 2nd in the sequence of Genesis. (Credit to R' Stern in Brooklyn) - Davening and talking to G-d in general is the PRIMARY reason we are endowed with speech.
    2. A person is on this earth to be in a relationship with G-d. An intimate relationship in the truest sense. Similar to the most private/ powerful moments between people in every kind of relationship dynamic, including a spouse, but remove the physical act and desires. Approaching prayer with the mentality of coming together on Mikva night is transformative. There's the hello, dinner, and then.. it builds and the relationship upkeep after so the whole experience isn't cheap or a selfish transaction but a reflection of love. Davening goes through the same stages, with Shema and Shemona Esrei being the most intimate moment. That's why Idolatry is likened to cheating. It's the same betrayal and hurt because G-d is in that kind of relationship with us. But rarely do we want or think of him as the One we wholeheartedly want to unify with, with every fiber of our being. Also when we quote the Torah, we are hearing him communicate with us, as the Torah is timeless.
-We do the same things all the time with friends spouses and family. Does it become meaningless because we eat breakfast every day or sing a certain song on the car ride to school? Do we call and ask the same "How are you" and "I love You" several times a day? Is the fact that your child or loved one comes and asks you to feed them and meet their needs a gumball machine request?
It means they are yours and close and special and not only do you want them to ask you, but you'd be hurt if they went to the neighbor or someone else's wife or husband to ask for that need/point of bonding.
The problem is that we don't realize that prayer is a person engaging in communication, a vital necessity in a relationship. Experts say that relationships can be measured by observing communication. G-d's there on His end, waiting, pacing begging for us to come to his open arms. He is REAL. And He wants to be close to you. Think of that in a romantic context and understand how powerful that is. This can be seen in everything that follows "Kol Dodi Dofek".
Please let me know if this helped.
Also note that He is not just someone we are close to, but the King of kings and the ultimate authority on everything. Hence all of the formality when we engage and converse, as well as quoting Him. When you are in a relationship and say Daddy/King you said to be careful with...and make sure to do ... so I remembered. A.K.A. you asked me to do or remember something and honey you've been on my mind all day.

From the smallest to the biggest, the most connected to the least connected, there's something about how the community comes together three times a day to whisper words of praise to Hashem, even when we don't understand which is really beautiful. I don't think we have to understand everything to have an impact on ourselves. The sweetness of the words is a large thing.

Thank you very much. Ben can reach people in a way that a rav can't. This is a wakeup to everyone out there. You don't need to be a rav to be able to show that yiddeshkeit is meaningful and real to you.
And if somehow this message can go to Ben. At the end of the day Rabbanim are our leaders and they are the way to get us moving. Perhaps Ben can have some kind of private forum with leading rabbanim to discuss ideas with how to move us forward. He has ideas which rabbanim may not come to on their own, but the may need adjustments.

Wishful thinking my friend. Most if not all ultraorthodox rabunim wouldn’t even look at him, let alone to have a sit down with him. How do I know that?
I was raised Hasidic, and yes, sadly yes,

Ben made a good point, which is that up until the latter half of the twentieth century, Jews were unable to propagate Jewish values in the non-Jewish world for millennia because we were under such brutal persecution. The ghetto mindset that developed has to change in order to actually fulfill our divine mission of being a light to the nations, which means engaging with the world with Torah as our backbone and rock.

This was amazing, a lot of words I don’t now but the same can be said of the catholic faith. I became catholic because of a certain lady and knew just enough to squeak by, then discovered EWTN satalite radio, as a truck driver I would listen to 10 to 12 hours a day I learned so much I was like a sponge taking it all in. Hearing discussions of a religious manner I find very interesting. Thank you for this peek into you world.

Prayer is not a gumball machine but rather an opportunity to request your needs and desires from the Creator and in truth most of the prayer is not about asking your needs it's about connecting to the Creator emotionally with your heart as it's called in Hebrew עבודת הלב - service of the heart , so all of the stuff that we read in prayer is in order to awaken our heart toward our creator !
The word תפילה can also mean connection similar to as in the parse ''התופל כלי חרס'' -putting together and connecting a earthenware vessel .

If Ben is willing to try, I'd suggest davening in a Chasidish shul or shtiebel, and see if he gets the same feeling. I don't mean specifically one or the other, but for an enthusiastic davening that still moves at a brisk pace, I think Stolin (Karlin Stolin) is probably the best, although they don't sing during davening.

If anyone's interested, there's a British band called UNIT that released a whole album inspired by and dedicated to Prageru, TPUSA and The Daily Wire. I discovered their You Tube channel a couple of years ago and most of their stuff is excellent. I'm not an agent for the band nor do I know any of them but, to judge from their lyrics, they seem genuine. I found them by typing UNIT Andy Martin The Voice Of Reason into YT which did the trick. They have the entire album as a playlist. One of their tracks features the mighty Ben Shapiro and they do a cracking version of Columbia Gem Of The Ocean, too! PS No, I am not the singer’s dad nor am I their manager or related in any way to the group!
