This a great tutorial as I've always had difficulty and hate drawing the female head because they often looked like guys with long hair.
Lol
Bruh I can relate
Dude, the same happen to me.
I cant draw female hairs
Fr same
can we just stand still for a sec and appreciate how amazing it is that we have free drawing lessons for someone how worked in the industry for almost his intire life.
FOR FREE?!!?
Technically it’s not free. You have to pay for whatever service you’re watching this on. But yes, you don’t have to pay for this specific UA-cam video.
Go see angel ganev's chanel:v
@@ebenman447 ganev is a clown
@@gijs1547 Aaron Blaise is pretty cool. Have you seen his channel? He worked on the original Mulan, Lion King, and Aladdin.
25yrs brother not his entire life.
I can't stress enough how much you have been helping me evolve in such a short time, Dave. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and giving us the proper tools to help us become better artists.
One of those videos I'm going to have to watch a gazillion times. Really fantastic.
I couldn't get the Lumis method down to save my life but, with this simplified version of yours I'm getting through it easily. Thank you so much
Just came across this, and it's honestly nice to -finally- see a left handed artist. While I want to get more more towards being an illustrator then comic artist. I'm just happy to see it done left handed when almost all the tutorials I see are done by right handed artists. Makes me trying to learn/re-learn art much harder
I see.... I should be using my left hand hand to draw.... Got it....
Lol exactly
I'm just impressed how comic book artists can draw faces and poses from so many different angles. I can do all the basic ones but as soon as you need me to do something dynamic I'm like "wow what is anatomy?" XD
I'm always amazed how our favorite artists post videos like this to help us little guys out. Thanks David, this was really helpful! Only question I have is: do you find it difficult to differentiate between multiple female faces that share the same page? Or do you feel it's not as important since they're outfits are typically distinctive enough?
Thank you Mr. Finch for the wealth of knowledge you’ve shared here for free!!! Very generous and kind. I’m very grateful. Thanks again.
Thanks David, i always had trouble with the head looking up or down ;v; maybe a hand tutorial next?💕
David Finch's channel is the best thing wich happend in 2020
yeah lol I was so happy when I saw the channel intro
Thank you for sharing your craft - I love your renditions of Batman (my favorite comic book character) and the Incredible Hulk! Please keep up the awesome art and continue to inspire those who know how to appreciate it!
I use B.Hogarth head as a block (manikin) in all perspective angles ,the overlay individuals on it.
Didn't know you had a UA-cam channel! I just discovered it. You're one of my favorite comic artists ever, so you can bet that i suscribed :D
thanks for dropping your knowledge with us mortals! :D
I appreciate this. I tend to place the eyes too close together sometimes! So ill be working with this tutorial all week! Thanx! 😊🔥
His tutorials are phenomenal. By far the best I have seen.
The rough sketch of a good artist is the most beautiful thing
Dave is such a great teacher. Everything is nicely descriptive and informative! Very nice!
Thanks so much Walden! It was really great to see that you were there for the stream. Thanks for spending some time with us! I love your channel, and I learned a lot from it!
@@DavidFinchartist I'll be looking out for more of your live streams. You have a great channel and I'm still watching you other videos. It's been a minute since I've worked with you on that Vampi cover and the time I've inked over your Superman when you were helping out Pajarillo on JLA vs Witchblade. We should do something together again. Always loved you work! So great you have a UA-cam channel.
Thanks Mr. Finch for these great videos, seeing a great artist at work is the best way to keep the enthusiasm alive
So much detail packed into such small amounts of time. Taking me a half hour just to get through 5mins of speed up video. Stellar stuff!
thanks David Finch for the Tutorial and i raely hope yo have a nice week
Very good drawings, love to see you do some fashion illustrations, ala Frances Neady.
Man I would have killed to see my favorite comic artist like this.. a real treat
I’m an old guy now but love the art
David, thank you so much for the tutorial videos! With them, drawing does not seem as monstrously difficult as it looks.
Please show how you draw complex hair, like curls in the wind, crazy hairstyles, wet hair, etc. The amount of detail just blows my mind and it turns into chaos.
I think a proper hair tutorial would be great to do. I'll get to it very soon, thanks!
@@DavidFinchartist It's great! Thanks again for sharing your experience.
Hey Mr.Finch, could you please go over hands and also muscle structures of the legs and arms. Thanks and btw this is such a great vid :)
I second this a lot
I third this
Type in Proko.
@@sidjones16 Don't.
@@rightwingreactionary what is proko?
A video on composition would be great. What you find to be important and what you avoid in your layouts.
I am going to get to this soon for sure.
David Finch nice I’m looking forward to seeing your process. Thanks for the great content.
Love to see your process of bringing a script to life on the page...
Amazing lesson! Thank you David.
I feel like I've been drawing intuitively for so long that I have to fight the habit of just drawing until it looks "right" and incorporate some of these great tools. It's odd that I've never articulated to myself that the nose stops short of the brow, but now that it's been pointed out I have something tangible to apply to the work. Thanks again.
I have finally bought the Loomis box set for the bookshelf after years of following his techniques. I tell new artists the same process and it's refreshing to see how my process is similar to yours.
I don't know if you just draw fast, but it would be handy if it was slowed down, but keep the commentary cuz that's gold!
No suggestion for future videos except more videos ;) thank you for putting these out there for all of us!
Could you ever do a tutorial on how to draw eyes? (female) like from comics books
Your the best teacher .
Another extremely informative Finch tutorial! I can feel my brain growing with every minute I watch! Beautiful examples too. Thank you! 🙏 oh yeah, I’ll be drawing along with you this time on Sunday too, I can’t wait! 🕷
Fantastic tutorial. 😊thanks Will you be adding a real-time tutorial like this to your Skillshare?
I love your technique and you are so good at breaking down the process. Thanks and I appreciate these videos.
Thanks for taking the time to do this David. Very informative and inspirational.
Thank you SO much for this tutorial!!! I suck at drawing females and this helped a lot!!!
Thanks David. You are the best!!! hi from Argentina!
Thanks Marcelo! Hi back from Canada!
i want to see you try different styles and digital stuff, feel like you'd make crazy cool stuff
Wish I could like this twice 👍🏼👍🏼
I just find your channel and I'm french, I'm watching your video right now and this tutorial help me so much, thank you very much
Brillant vid David! SUPER useful how you create the base form, really like your simplfied Loomis! Looking forward for more of your videos :)
Glad you liked it!
Sad but true, gave up on drawing humans for the longest time, went on to draw fantasy maps and such, which was fun and helped with drawing and understanding geography. Mountains, hills. Forests, swamps, rivers, etc.
It really ramped up better landscapes!
But I really need to give this some practice! Trouble is finding inspiration to draw humans.
You make it look effortless
Very clear and refreshing!! Please do a video on your approach to drawing “backs” the same way you did this video and that arm video.
This is so much more helpful than other tutorials :0
Thanks David! Your videos became so professional. How often do you change your lead pointer?
New 52 Wonder Woman 36 cover art by David Finch, awesome cover
This video is absolutely 💯 gold. Thank you so much David!!
Glad it was helpful!
Can you do a turtorial about heads attached with torso
For sure! I'll have that coming in the next month
@@DavidFinchartist thankyou
Loving these tutorials!
I think it's the mouth that's throwing off the downward facing head.
Mr finch your the best I have been learning how to draw like you for quite some time now I’m getting better at drawing poses and in perspective I’m diving into muscle drawing now I hope it won’t cost you some spare time to draw a torso in different shapes like you did for this heads drawing I would really appreciate it your biggest I mean huge fan pls hope you see this😩😩😩
Amazing drawing !!! Excellent image very thanks dear friend👍😀😽🎵✌💓
Thank you so much 😀
I've had a bit of a phase where I drew anime art recently, and I couldn't get back to the semi realistic style even though I've been drawing for a while. This helped me get back into it. Thanks!
Always liked those mechanical pencils. I got like four or five of them and different packs of leads, a pillow duster type bag filled with eraser dust for picking up excess graphite, some three sided rulers and a paper brush from a drafting class like 23 years ago. Still haven’t run out of lead.. lol And I’m Still using them all to this day. 😋
They're really the best. They don't break as easily, you can get a finer point if you need it, and the lead tends to be pretty consistent.
David Finch yea I’m always snapping lead on my 0.5 pentel mechanicals. But I do like those too for finer lines. I also got one of them older desk mount sharpeners for the Steadtlers. Or I use the caps on the end. They also have the little sharpener inside.
Love the new Camera Dave 🤘
Please can you teach how to draw textures
Learn from a big figure of comics like you is one of the most amazing gifts
Thank you so much for share your tutorial
Sorry for my english tho :)
Rob Liefeld should watch these.
Thank you Mr.Finch for all your tutorials so far. This was definitely helpful cause I always felt my female faces were a little too cartoony.
Mr. @David Finch your videos are amazing, I have learned a lot from them, could you do a tutorial on female anatomy?
I would love to see you draw Batman vs superman.
Awesome! Thank you very much David!
amazing artistry truly phenomenal but i couldn't keep up
how can you hold a pencil like that and draw so good?
Thank you david!! Your videos are so inspirational! I Think I am ready to draw some sample pages.but I am my worst critic, I have to give it a try!! I dont want to waste my talent.
It's tough to put yourself out there, but it's worth it!
This was so simplified that I could understand the dimensions. Thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiance!!!
Hey David great video very helpful
Thanks a lot!
You are a good artist 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love this new intro and editing style, this is my personal favorite idk about others but if you keep something like this consistent people will notice and take the channel more seriously, allowing you to grow more and more. Also one suggestion is that for the fade transition itself in the video you could use the same transition that you used in the intro(and maybe for the outro too)Oh yeah, it great tutorial too, keep up the good work!
Wow incredible realization !
I think I want my art style to be inspired from him
Me too 🍀
Am going for a mix of this comic book style and bleach manga 🙂
Thanks for sharing your nice tutorial and it’s very helpful for me.☺️💕🙏🏻
thank you for the tutorial sir, i always end up drawing my female figure too masculin
David sir u are my favourte artist i m highly inspired by u if u please heart my comment it will mean to me that u are also my friend n teacher too 😀😀
Ohh he is the best comic artist and really exited for dragon rage cover
@@davidfranklin6130 , while he is good I have to say he's great I have to say that I like to say #Artgerm, #Sakimichan, #Loish, and Carlos Gomez are great too.
👍
My favorite video yet thank you very much.
She's beautiful
i have been waiting for this tutorial for ages
Finch: this is a tougher angle for me...
*draws it perfectly* *literally nails it* 😂
Nice job bro, loving the posts
Thanks heaps David, big fan and you starting this channel has inspired me to get back into drawing again, hope you keep up the great work. :)
Thanks David - this was really useful and real food for thought. The 'drawing of the whole eyeball' was a real lightbulb moment for me. Any chance you could do a video on hands? And on feet!?
Im wondering, when practicing anatomy and forms in space in such, is it better to draw sketchy or trying to make clean lines and curves drawing from your shoulder?
THANKS
thanks again for all this amazing insight
This is amazing to watch. I hope you will do a male head tutorial at some point too. Thanks for the videos thus far!
Been having trouble with symmetry on my Loomis studies, never occurred to me to draw the face plane first. Need to give this a try
Same here!! Extremely informative display in that approach by Mr. Finch, been practicing for a few days and keep coming back to rewatch :)
Hope it ain't seen as disrespectful by Mr Finch for mentioning another art tutor, but you might find Sinix' drawing faces video quite helpful in addition - he approaches faces by teaching to draw basically curved paper masks for practice and gradually build from there.
YES! I've been waiting for this!
Next you should show how to draw heads but with Superman's head! Then I could die happy!
Captain America Flash Iron man and I hope Batman 😂
Thank you Sir, for creating such beautiful content.. Amazing and awesome :)
Can we get some perspective related action pose within the environment like buildings, or some kind of forest like ! Just for Horizon understanding as per character and environment perspective
the head in profile has always been a problem for me, this has helped me a lot, thank you very much
Thank you David!!!
david freaking finch in youtube !!! omg !! thank you so much for tutoriels master !
Hello, Mr. Finch, I have a questions for you, why do you use makes tapes in the pencil, what´s reasons????
probably just comfort.
Thanks. This was really helpful.
Awesome tutorial!.... Thank you.
Can you do one talking about the features of the face in a deeper way?
Again - a GREAT tutorial, thank you David!
I did a video in your honor on my channel today ✌🏻
Thank you again for our great collaboration!
See you soon ✌🏻
