Here's a tip, if your skis need tuning (edge work and/or base repair/stone grind), have them tuned before you put on your summer storage wax. From a shops pespective, they can't tune a ski with storage wax on it, especially hard if it needs base repair.
#1 reason for storage wax is oxidation... you want to seal out air. Ever seen old gear where the base near the edges is yellowed and fuzzy? Its oxygen eating the ptex as much as it is "drying out" and it won't come back just with wax- not great anyway. Part of why fresh wax on a fresh base grind is so awesome. Something I finally figured out a couple years ago. Storage wax really makes a big difference to the longevity of your gear and performance
how about a 20 second tech tip to sum up this 3 minute video: when to wax your skis: 1) end of the season for storage, 2) when it's starting to look a little dry and dull.
Also should I tune and de bur my edges every time I go , or wax like I just went today for 8 hours and my broad has nice pretty nice grooves from hitting the rails and rocks should I re wax every time go or 3 times a season
You can if you want, it will help with edge grip. However, if you are hitting rails, you may not want super clean/ sharp edges to glide over the rails easier. Many park riders detune their edges for this reason.
Mountain Vibes I bought a 2019-2020 Salomon camber 149 it came with de tuned edges and factory wax I hit the pack for 8 hours just about, do you think I’m set or do you think I should detune them to get rid of some of the burs, and is the wax good to, or do I have to re wax it
@@Deleted_acc532 I wax every 3-4 trips up, so basically once a week. Usually don't have to worry about touching my edges up until 2-3 weeks have gone by.
Thanks for the help I have I looked up how and when to apply wax to snowboard and this video popped right up thanks for the help I couldn’t find any other videos of when to wax
Lookin’ good honey! Mom&Dad xx

Thanks so much for the helpful info. Makes a world of a difference with wax.
Very well done. This is exactly what I needed as a new snowboard owner

Lisa Ryan Didn’t even realize... Haha.
Thanks!
what if only the edges are turning chalky but not the center of the base? new board but full day of slush about a 2" of chalky coloring from the edge
I notice it flat basing on slow cat tracks

Great tips in a short video!

Is any kind of wax effective? Like the candles?
I’ve tired normal candle wax before, and it doesn’t work that well. Ski wax is formulated to help reduce snow friction.
@@MountainVibes unfortunately! I don't think we have that product here in Morocco unless there's a way to make it at home
Not too sure if you can make some at home. If you’re in a pinch, you could just use regular candle wax. It just won’t glide that well.
Thank you! This is very helpful!!
I wax my skis every 3-5 days on the mountain
Great vid man!
Is there really a need to wax a new snowboard?
Hi There. Generally, no. All new snowboards come pre-waxed from the factory.
Thank you!
since i know how to do it myself i wax once a month.
you're so underrated. :(
What's this business of people scraping the wax and then scuffing it up with a scotch brite pad?!!
It removes excess wax that scrapping missed, leaving a smooth finish. In some cases, allows the base texture to come out more.
