The Crow! I watch The Crow every year. Dark, Rainy, The Cemetery. So Halloweeny, so beautiful. Also the dark backstory of the making of this movie. One of my all-time faves.
Every Halloween, I have the original 1959 House on Haunted Hill playing in the background while I hand out candy. To me, that movie just evokes the combined campiness and spookiness of the holiday.
I would have put Ginger Snaps in the first category, since it takes place over the month of October and ends at Halloween time. I'd forgotten how good a Halloween movie it was until I rewatched it last year.
It's super Halloween! There are decorations at the school and they go to the Halloween party at a greenhouse, everyone's wearing costumes. the mom also has iconic Halloween outfits

Personally, Halloween is the one season I DON’T want to watch actual horror movies. My faves are always like, kid Halloween movies that focus on the holiday. Basically any Halloween D-Com or animated movie about the season lol. So nostalgic
I sort of understand this. I watch horror, but only "fun" horror. I prefer movies that are a bit lighter, with a party atmosphere. Trick R Treat does this well, and I consider Night of the Demons to be the best movie for Halloween. Ironically, I don't consider Halloween to be a good movie for Halloween. It's a little too dry.
i love how much more passionate and refreshed you seem on this channel since taking a break from your lifestyle channel. So inspired by seeing you do what makes you happy!
Another atmospheric film for Halloween is “Scarecrows” (1988). A small group of mercenaries hijack a plane that makes an emergency landing in a cornfield with very creepy and violent scarecrows
Typically I don't rewatch anything in October, save for the 31st, I tend to use that month to knock off anything new that I haven't got around to so it always feels fresh 😊 but the 31st is definitely when I fall into comfort watches, oddly a lot of my films then are family friendly so it's always going to be Trick R Treat Drag Me to Hell (can't explain why but this always fits the vibe for me) ParaNorman Arsenic and Old Lace Casper & The Witches. Great list though for anyone just starting to get into horror ☺
Don’t come for me, but my Halloween tradition has been to watch Killer Klowns From Outer Space. 😂 I just love the cheesiness of it, terrible 80s special affects.
Sinister and The Ring made me cry from fear when I watched them and I haven't seen them again! Kinda sorta Halloween-y but kinda not is The Void. It is so freaky and great if you like Lovecraft type of vibes
I always try to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show. Last year I just picked a bunch of stuff, not necessarily halloween vibe. Silence of the lambs, rosemary’s baby, the conjuring, pet semetary, the shining, Dracula, 1912, in the tall grass, exorcist. Thanks for so many new ones I can try!
So happy you mentioned Sleepy Hollow, i adore that movie. It's one of the few horror movies that manages to get the balance of campy humour & disturbing horror just right without being either too silly, or too scary for younger viewers, & Johnny Depp's performance in the movie is one of his best. My brother & i used to watch Sleepy Hollow a lot as kids, & it's still one of my favourite movies to watch on Halloween night along with Trick r Treat & the original Halloween. Another good one to watch during October is the original version of The Fog.
OMG! I love how you categorized the movies based on a general feeling or setting. It's hard to find suggestions for a horror movie with a specific asthetic or setting. I can see myself 2 hours from now still watching your content bc that's exactly what I'm about to do🤣
The Innkeepers was filmed at The Yankee Pedlar Inn, Torrington CT. I've stayed at this Inn, and yes, very creepy in there. Didn't see a ghost, but it felt like one could pop out at any time. Place is freezing cold too. Currently closed undergoing renovation, I believe.
Thank you for a fun list. I have now watched all the movies on your list that I hadn't seen yet, and our taste is very different - especially with the movies in part one. That doesn't matter, it was fun crossing "unseen" Halloween movies of my list. One recommendation I woul'd like to give is the 1989 Tom Hanks movie The Burbs. It is a commedy with elements of horror. A great movie to watch in October. Kind regards from Norway.
One of my favorites around this time of year is Guillermo Del Toro's "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" the vibes in that movie are amazing and the fantasy horror angle is one we don't see often enough to me
Yay! Gonjiam Haunted Asylum made the list! It's great at creating the feeling of Claustrophobia and confusion. The Blair Witch Project makes you feel more lost without a sense of direction. Gonjiam makes you feel trapped with nowhere to run and hide.
the Blair witch projest is nothing like it was when it first came out. noi credits, no names of actors. it was escorted with new clippings placed online that looked like news paper articles about those kids and the area. A crap ton of people actually thought those three kids died and they shoed that footage in cinema screens like watching some knd of CN proadcats of people jumping from the world trade center before it went down. 2 of those actors never even for credits until 10 years later, Heather I saw died barely anyone knowing who she was... it was more about how they orgrastrated that movie that made it the all time 'cost to make vs gross at the cinema' movie ever done. 60k to make vs half a billion world wide.
My rotation during October would include...Misery, Dawn of the dead(remake), ju-on(Japanese version),return of the living dead, night of the living dead(1991), pyscho 2, day of the dead, Splinter, Halloween 2, jeepers creepers, It follows, a Nightmare on elm Street, fright night(1985),Dead End(2004), We are still here..to name a few

“Well, my spooky marathon never really ends, does it?” Love that 😂❤️ Thank you for another great movie list!! Trick r Treat, Hocus Pocus, and Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktakular are my must watches every year!

In your top 31 fav horror flicks I wanted to mention Ghost Story, story by Perter Straub. This is a really well made ghost story, if u haven’t seen it I highly recommend!! Thanks for your hard work on ur channel, well done!! MotorCitySlots Detroit
You brought up making Halloween into a drinking game, if anyone needs help with that we do exactly that haha! I didn't expect to hear that suggestion from you but after hearing it I couldn't help but comment!
I just discovered Trick last year, I was pleasantly surprised how much fun it was. Recommending it to all my friends for Halloween movie marathons this year.
This is a great list and I found 7 films on it that I really want to check out this Halloween season :) For me, my yearly go to's include: The People Under the Stairs, Suspiria (1977), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Hocus Pocus, Sleepy Hollow, Practical Magic, Beetlejuice, Candyman, The Phantom Carriage, and The Haunting (1963)
Finally someone that feels the way I feel about Gonjiam!!! Watched it a few months ago and it’s sooooo good, and I was terrified after watching it. I loved all the characters, and the setting is just perfect. Reminds me so much of Grave Encounters, which is another fave of mine!!
Have you seen "REC"? It's a Spanish found footage movie and it's soooo good. It's not a "searching a supposedly haunted building" film, but most of it takes place at one location.
One of my all time favorites that I think should be a must see based on Halloween is Night of the Demons(1988) There is a remake but the original just as a great quality to it. Its a fun movie for pure enjoyment not to be taken seriously. It's campy and still very creepy. Highly recommend!
Soooooo glad this channel was recommended for me because I think we might have the same taste in horror movies (except I loved Malignant but we don't have to talk about that hahaha)
I love May. I rewatched it recently and still found May super captivating. I had added Gonjiam to my list since I saw you rated it so highly. I’m excited to check it out.
I guess Halloween 4 in particular would make it on my list. It's very nostalgic for me because of being a little kid walking around the neighborhoods late at night with my halloween costume feeling scared :) *also the scene having multiple Michael Myers on the street acting in character was so relatable
I’ve been trying to find movies I can watch with my dog. His favourite movie is Halloween so we are going to try sleepy hollow this year because he obsessed over horses.
I have a feeling my list is going to look similar. Glad you included "Hellfest". I haven't seen "Cry Wolf" since it came out. I'd like to check it out again.
@@emmmahezw Gonjiam is really good. Highly recommended. HHLLC: Ok, I really like found footage horror, but I don't think you need to be a fan of the sub-genre to love this movie. (-:
@@fisheyenomiko I’ll get right on it! I get scared really easily if I’m being honest, so I’ll wait to watch it during the day tomorrow when I’m off of work instead of tonight. I’m using the excuse that I want to be alert and awake so I can read the subtitles haha. Wish me luck, guys!
Awesome list! It really gave me Silence of the Prey vibes. That film stuck with me - the tension and suspense are just on another level. If you're into scary stuff, it’s a must-watch!
Your list is very good, I love Trick r Treat the most and I agree with The Ring, it is an excellent film that I don't see people discussing as much anymore, yet it defies even today's standards for horror movies. Two other movies I love to watch in Fall is The ritual and Crimson Peak, since it's mostly cold woods and people in coats, if you haven't seen the first one I really recommend it. :)
The movies: Halloween (1978) Halloween (2007) Halloween (2018) May (2002) Trick or treat (2007) Hellfest (2018) Cry wolf (2005) The Houses October built (2014) Haunt (2019) 31 (2016) Scary stories to tell in the dark (2019) Terrifier (2016) Hell House LLC (2015) Murder party (2007) The Houses October built 2 (2017) Tales of Halloween (2015) The Guest (2014) Gonjiam Haunted Asylum (2018) Sleepy Hollow (1999) Session 9 (2001) The Others (2001) Shutter (2004) Ginger Snaps (2000) The Blair Witch Project (1999) The Ring (2002) The Innkeepers (2011) Candyman (1992) Sinister (2012) House on Haunted Hill (1999) Gretel & Hansel (2020) The Craft (1996)
What’s great about horror movies/shows for Halloween is it’s almost like there are just as many types of horror movie as there are horror movies so you can have complete lists of just horror movies for kids, Asian horrors, gore-fests, vintage, greatest of, psychological, demonic etc etc or just a mashup of styles like this brilliant list.
@@loganc1158 No, but Dick Warlock, who played Michael in part II, was in III as one of the androids. He was also a stunt coordinator for both films. (-:

In your top 31 fav horror flicks I wanted to mention Ghost Story, story by Perter Straub. This is a really well made ghost story, if u haven’t seen it I highly recommend!! Thanks for your hard work on ur channel, well done!!
MotorCitySlots Detroit
You brought up making Halloween into a drinking game, if anyone needs help with that we do exactly that haha! I didn't expect to hear that suggestion from you but after hearing it I couldn't help but comment!
I still wince at the halloween 2007 film being your fav
It's very nostalgic for me because of being a little kid walking around the neighborhoods late at night with my halloween costume feeling scared :)
*also the scene having multiple Michael Myers on the street acting in character was so relatable
Part of my list is movie Idle Hands 😁
speaking of Gretel and Hansel, the Witch or vvitch feels like a spooky fall/novembery feeling movie that I would recommend!
One of my top 5 favourite horrors. I love Black Phillip.
@@tamarad4146 me too
John Carpenter’s Halloween and Trick r’ Treat are the keys for me.
I’ve been trying to find movies I can watch with my dog. His favourite movie is Halloween so we are going to try sleepy hollow this year because he obsessed over horses.
Lol, try cujo
Halloween 3 and 4 are among the best in how they capture the season.
I've been getting more into horror movies recently and this is what i needed for the spooky season ^.^
Tales of Halloween and Trick r treat have always been my favorites and nobody ever takes abt them im so glad you put light on them
Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 definitely has the best fall atmosphere in the series
H3
Thir13en Ghosts (2001). Matthew Lillard is iconic!
The second I heard you loved "The Ring", "Hell House LLC", "TBWP" *and* "Session 9", I knew I had to 👍🏻 and sub to your channel... 😊
Love your all black business type look!! Thanks for the recommendation. Some of those are my favs as well. I’m totally glad you added May.
I have a feeling my list is going to look similar. Glad you included "Hellfest". I haven't seen "Cry Wolf" since it came out. I'd like to check it out again.
I recommend this spanish found footage zombie film called "Rec" and it's sequel "Rec 2". Definitely worth the watch for Halloween
Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum is definitely on my top scary movies I have ever seen lol Good list by the way!
The irony at the end...
almost shit my pants when they zoomed on the possessed girls face speaking in demonic tongues
Just watched it. Almost fell asleep several times. Finally got good around the 1 hour mark.
Not to self, check out Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum and Hell House LLC.
Excellent list!
The Hell House LLC series was genuinely effective. I'm watching them all again this year.
Edit: YES! Gonjiam was so good!!!!
Love hell house llc. And I still haven’t seen gonjiam. Gotta get on that cause I’ve been hearing about it for a bit
I love the Hell House series. The first one is one of the only movies that truly scared me. I'll have to put Gonjiam on my list!
Me and my manager watched that series on shift once. After we were kind of freaked out to walk around the building. At least I was haha
Don't Look Now, lots of jackets & scarves, rain. Definitely fall vibe.
Haunt was a better Hell Fest than Hell Fest.
Awesome list! It really gave me Silence of the Prey vibes. That film stuck with me - the tension and suspense are just on another level. If you're into scary stuff, it’s a must-watch!
I always love these lists. So excited for Halloween!!
So READY! 🙌🏻
My must watches are: Scream, IT Chapter 1 and 2, and Boys in the Trees (not so much horror but very much Halloween).

Halloween (1978)
Halloween (2007)

Halloween season i love rewatching all my favorite Halloween themed movies.
I have always been a major fan of the SAW franchise!
Controversial opinion, but I think that Halloween 3 season of the witch is the best Halloween movie.
Love it as a stand alone Halloween movie
Same!
conal cochran is a legit creepy villain who thinks he's playing a joke on all these kids by murdering them.
Absolutely! I love him. Pretty sure it is the same guy that plays Michael in pt 2.
@@loganc1158 No, but Dick Warlock, who played Michael in part II, was in III as one of the androids. He was also a stunt coordinator for both films. (-:
THANK YOU for the House on Haunted Hill appreciation! The one scene near the end when Nell looks in the mirror and her face is all distorted and smiley ACTUALLY traumatized me as a child. I'm 33 and have seen ALL the horror movies, and that scene still is the scene I have to close my eyes during 😶
I love your channel soooo much! I’ve been binging all your videos since I found you like 3 weeks ago lol. Hope October brings lots of good content 🧡🖤
yay thank you!
October 12th
I love that you mentioned may it's one of my all time horror favorites and is really underseen
Such a great list! I started making my Halloween watch list a couple months ago lol There are a few you mentioned I haven't even heard of tho that I'm now interested in checking out, thanks! ❤🎃🦇💀🐱
The original When A Stranger Calls. It's classic, it's atmospheric, it's very fall, it's super 70s, it's just perfect
I was just thinking about how I wanted to start watching a bunch of horror movies to get me ready for Halloween! This came at the perfect time!
Thank you for the list! Are all the movies recommended on Shudder? Personally I enjoy watching The Cabin the Woods (2011) , The Witch (2015) and Hitchcock’s Psycho during this time of year.
The Rite with Anthony Hopkins is a tense movie to watch during October.
You've metioned some movies I've never heard of before. I'm gonna check em out, thanks! 👍
It took me over a decade to watch The Others. Ghosts were my biggest hang up when I was younger and the trailers were enough to keep me away until my mid 20's. Turns out I loved it.
