- In this episode we introduce the DMC Delorean build series. Trent Wonsley, our master engineer, walks through the ev conversion process and the planned upgrades. A car this cool needs an awesome electric drivetrain, so we are going to give it the full Tesla treatment. Check out the build and follow along to see what we do next.

To electrify a Delorean has to be the most epic conversion possible.
So, the Delorean will finally get a drive train that will match it’s futuristic design and get to 88mph far quicker that it has ever done before.

Wireless lapel mics will do great for 200 bucks.
absolutely my dream car.. delorean with the crappy underpowered motor and weak transmission removed and converted to EV. Can't wait to see the progress on this.
MUST put a flux capacitor in the rear above the batteries that glows brighter as car gets faster.. :)

I don't mind it, hearing the background noises makes me feel like I am in the shop, which I like.
@@Jeffe46M I don't care about echoes and shop noises, I care about actually hearing what they're saying. If I have to crank the volume up all the way and it still sounds extremely low then there's a huge problem, then the stock music kicks in and it's like a jackhammer in my head.
@@justinmartin8637 mmm maybe it's because I am listening on speakers? No peaky audio on my side.
@@Jeffe46M on headphones or straight out of the phone it's almost unlistenable, from pc speakers it might be more tolerable.
@@Jeffe46M in the car over bluetooth is the same.

There is a lot of modifications to be done to fit a Tesla motor package in there. Where did I see about the latest revolutionary electric motor that was part of a wheel? -Where the hub is actually the motor. I think that is going to be a breaking point when we can start to easily convert classic cars to fun vehicles. Meanwhile, I will enjoy this show. Spectacular entertainment indeed.
Can not waite! I hope so much you stick with the 80's display stuff. BUT, I'm sure what ever you come up with will be frikin amazing.
Nice. Would like to see the process of how he pulls the dimensions off the engine bay into CAD, does the mounts etc, and fits the drive unit and battery packs.

Consider using the JW Speaker retrofit headlights who are the most advanced LED mfg. made in USA. From their site:

Looks like the power steering kit is behind him on the shelf. Also, as a DeLorean owner I look forward to how this turns out. An 80 KWH conversion sounds worth it.
Ohhh, how I envy you! :) Wanted to do my conversion with a DeLorean too but to find one in Europe which is not a complete rust bucket and does not cost 50k+ was not possible. I ended up with a Volvo S80, also nice. :) Looks like you completely overhauled the undercarriage too. Wish you all the best!

I'm curious how you run the 12volt parts of the vehicle? Do you have a motor that runs off the main battery that is only on when the car is on or do you run a stepdown transformer when the car is on?
Have you guys ever done a performance oriented Tesla > Miata conversion? That would be a killer setup!

Audio definitely isn't professional but it ain't bad, anyway you guys got mics now. The echo ngl makes it sound more natural in an odd way.
I'm wanting to build an all electronic 4th gen Honda Prelude. Will your Porsche 911 or comparable kit work for my application?

Huh, so without the rad and accessories, there's a pretty decent amount of space up front, while still keeping the frunk. I know some other DeLorean EV projects rule out Tesla battery packs because of their size.
