The iron fence on the other side of the aqueduct in Marple is fairly new, that didn't used to be there. Just used to be a huge drop on that off side I suppose because no one would be expected to be on that side as it is not a path. I always remember being tempted to jump from the path to the other side when I was a kid but never had the bottle to do it.
Finally looked at the pic of aqueduct with no fence - that looks bloody scary - no chance! Give yourself a pat on the back for not attempting that one.
Another excellent walk with plenty of geese, I guess the canal authorities will have rescued the car by now.

its not duke in field as is lords, ladies and dukes. its said as duck - in - field. a duck in a field. not the duke of earl in a field. DuKiNfeild!
