Just spotted Michael and Joe (Minimalist) leaving Bugsworth. Love the drone lol I bought one and got it stuck in a tree having nearly killed myself getting it back I decided at 62 my tree climbing days are limited and I put it back in the box where it remains collecting dust. Great video, thanks Phil hope you are moored somewhere nice for the next little while. Cheers Alan.

Been looking forward to cruising with you this autumn, the sparkling sun and warm colours, stunningly beautiful. Could I make an observation regarding bridges? As you approach you jump forward to the bridge hole and as you leave you obscure the view behind. It doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of your video! When filming into the sun the view behind would be in full sun. Just a thought. A million paintings.

I am curious I know you have been on your boat for 30 years is it the same boat and if so how often do you have it serviced you mentioned in this episode during your travels to Buggs worth that you had not been there in 20 years do you typically moor up For long periods of time or do you Cruz most of the time
Yes, same boat. I'm a continuous cruiser.
there is an issue with the combs reservoir supply channel that's caused some off the problems too

I so hope you do not follow the ways of another canal boat utuber who has become very vocal and political, briefly seen in your video. I did enjoy their channel but have now unsubscribed. I am 70 years old and do not want to be preached at by anyone. Stay safe and well and keep up the videos and your music.

Hi we are thinking of hiring a boat from the Macclesfield area and having a week up there,trouble is find a boat with 3 bedrooms, also will it take a week to go up to Buggy and back
Macclesfield to Buggy and back should be easy in a week. Though much harder work if you start below Bosley locks!

Thankyou so much for confirming what Ive already told my wife, prior to our weeks Narrow boat holiday for May & Oct 2024, that it's pointless me wearing fancy new clothing and changing every day, when you get all dirty anyway...I for one won't be changing often 😁👍
Excellent, as always. On other social media sites I see ever more people dreaming of selling up and even some who have sold up and are about to cast off. Your videos ought to be compulsory viewing for all of the dreamers because you show life on the cut as it is, warts and all. Your stuff is particularly useful for anyone considering of going solo - your tangles with swing bridges being a good example of what I mean.
Great comment here! The real parts are every bit as important to know. We are some of those dreamers you mentioned and we are literally longing and hoping this will one day come true for us. My wife loves rainy days which we understand is a huge part of the weather over there. We're from the U.S. which would mean a bit of work planning how we would go about doing this, but as I said, we truly do plan to give it a try. One way or another, we want to sell it all and either get an RV or Caravan as you call them in the UK, and travel. There is so much history in the UK and we find it fascinating! Every little bridge made of bricks from the days of yesteryear are beautiful. Wish us Luck!

G'day Phil and the cats. At 16:38 "I hate traffic noise." I totally agree with you. All of the Boaters I follow on UA-cam have visited Bugsworth Basin and love the place. Even with that busy road near to the basin.

Your videos are so informative for other boaters. You point out visitor moorings, supermarkets that may not be seen from the canal, Armco & Pin moorings are easy to see. Really useful.
Love the pole assisted reverse wind. As a single-hander of 30 years that had never occurred to me. Always learning as a boater.

I spy UA-camrs "Minimal List" leaving Bugsworth basin. I remember Bugsworth when it was closed off. It was closed off for many years, too many leaks in the basin back in the Eighties.
Thought they were on the Leeds and Liverpool at the moment

Great camera composition & quality is top notch. Could I ask what camera you use on the front forward shots.
I was using a Cobra CDR820 dash camera back then. I've recently started using a Gopro which is even better quality.
What a beautiful canal. So peaceful.
That brought back some lovely memories, we walk along there when we holiday in Cheshire twice a year.

Thank you. That was an old one - I don't do time-lapse much any more. I only did them then because that was the only camera I had. Also I had a very limited internet allowance back then. ;-)

Thank you. Lockdown doesn't make a lot of difference to me. I'm in isolation all the time anyway so hardly notice it. Fewer shops open, that's about it.

Hello, Phil. I am Leigh in Houston, Texas. Just getting to know your channel. Looking forward to it, especially as a cat mom myself. Can't wait to meet yours. As a 30 year narrowboat inhabitant, perhaps you will answer a question for me: when did solar power become viable and widespread on the canals? Prior to that, I guess it was all engines or generators? Thanks.
Welcome aboard! I bought my first panel in 2001. A 60 watt panel that cost £330. since then the prices have steadily fallen. Last October I bought a 100 watt panel for £70.
