Ameen sounds like a lovely, intelligent guy who is tired of a living and lie and wants to be true to himself and everyone around him. He also doesn't want to cause hurt to his family by rejecting their religion. Armin gave him some very good advice. It's very likely that his family have already noticed that he isn't particularly religious and wouldn't therefore be too surprised if he came right out and said that he considers himself an athiest now, gently and when the time is right. Its also true, as Jim said, that its fine and simply good manners to "go along" with certain religious aspects of family life, such as funerals, to show you respect their beliefs too..
Why Satan competing for God's followers? Because he is realizing that god has to be stopped for the sake of all living creatures in and outside the universe.

What about the power disparity that exists in patriarchal marriage cultures where the husband is viewed as the head of the family and is often the sole income earner? Wouldn't that make sexual relationships in such marriages unethical since there is a power disparity between the man and the woman, with the woman often being financially dependent on the man and conditioned to always submit to him?
@@caribbeanman3379because unless a woman is bring forced into having sex then it's called consensual Plus the fact most men accept no as no even when the woman is their wife
@Jebus_Anti-theist 😂 I was listening to the show live, and that threw me off. And I've called in once when he and JMike were cohosting. Not that I expected him to remember that.
if Armin's standard for a relationship is informed consent amongst adults, then adult relatives should be fine. the power imbalance concept is really independent of adults. his "potential of harm" model fails because who gets to judge what that potential is? using the potential for harm concept would prevent most LGBT+ relationships from happening. I think Armin is special pleading because incest crosses his line but LBGT+ relationships don't because of "reasons". would Armin have an opinion about adults getting involved in romantic relationship with a person with clinical depression? substance abuse? felony conviction? presence of breast cancer gene? downs syndrome? there's a lot of potential for harmful relationship with people. are people who fit in those categories undeserving of a romantic relationship because of higher likelihood of unhealthy relationship?
@@JPPan-hq6leTbh I think the people in the relationship need to decide what the potential for harm is. And, partially, their loved ones. It's a self-inflicted harm, and they would either need to recognize that, or have it explained to them, but after that, it's up to them to decide if they would like to continue hurting themself. Of course, if someone's an abuser, that's more complicated. But educating the victim and supporting them will lead to them leaving when they can.
I don't wanna hear about reducing harm or not causing harm from people who cause harm every day when they eat the bodies of innocent animals. Hypocrites.
10:10 If a god were to exist and its existence followed the same physics we know of, then as no chemical reaction (such as those found in every living organism) can be sustained without consuming /some/ source of energy/matter, yes, souls would probably be food for that creature, in one way or another - either directly consumed, or the energy that those souls spend adulating the god is somehow harnessed and consumed instead. That would mean that if a god existed and that god created humans, then earth is basically just a farm, probably one among many. Different souls probably taste different too - maybe he made aliens elsewhere and they give him a sweet taste while we give him a spicy taste and a different alien species gives him a salty taste so he just harvests souls based on what kind of flavor he's craving at the time. That's the premise I'm going with, anyway. Tryign to write a mythology fantasy book where every god is real and they just made humans as a food source. The energy people expend praying is absorbed by that respective god. Millions of souls spending energy to pray would probably provide enough energy for a god to keep existing for a day. The gods also die out when people stop worshipping them. Dying of hunger, basically. So a whole bunch died out and a few are close to starving. Zeus and Odin are barely holding on with the energy people use to praise stories that involve them even if they're not literally praying. Religion is an amazing source of fantasy inspiration.
I'm looking forward to being able to call in soon. I have not read the Quran, but your view of the OT is so far off it is no wonder your Overton window cannot see the truth of it. Unfortunately, I've been working a lot of Saturdays.
Genuinely curious here. I understand that the power dynamics between child and parent are bad for a incest relationship, but how are the power dynamics between siblings worse than the ones between none incest relationship?
I've never understood why some people find it so hard to decide whether or not to come out as gay, atheist, or anything. I mean, you do what you want when you want for whatever reason. People need to do some introspection and just analyze the repercussions of any decision they make in their life. You don't owe anyone any explanation but yourself.
People need to be very careful about coming out in some places in the world. They get killed. Even in a place where people are supposed to be less harsh, young gay people can find themselves dumped at the petrol station homeless because their family wont accept them.
As above said. Most people figure out if they have a "controversial" identity when they're teenagers/young adults. That's about the same time that a parent/guardian will feel justified disowning you. And my goodness, the stats on hate killings all over the world are much too high.
1:59:19 Ok you can point to the creator of a car ONLY because you know it was created by a man. You can’t point to a creator of life because you don’t know who created it. Just because you don’t know who created it doesn’t automatically mean it didn’t have a creator. So by this logic if we found an alien spaceship but there were no aliens around we must assume it had no creator because we have no way of knowing it was created by someone? Therefore your “rational” conclusion is that the spaceship was created by a natural process? Is that your “rational” reasoning process?
If you’re going to talk about a verse that you claim says you can beat your wife why not quote the actual verse or at least cite it? What verse are you referring to?
I suppose, the Norwegian caller meant the quantum uncertainty and the watcher's paradox. Like there should've been some consciousness to resolve undefined quantum states in the Universe.
As Jesus is God, (John 10:30), Jesus exists from the beginning of time until the end of time, according to the Bible. Out of all that time he had one bad week-end. Not really all that much suffering, huh?
Strange how this follower of Hijab talks of genetic injury of children, yet only a few moslems argue against cousin marriage that is a significant cause of genetic damaged for their children.
It doesn't matter as it's not a relevant point. Are women no longer going to have pregnancy considering how dangerous pregnancy is? Would heterosexual people decide to become homosexual if we caused more STDs? What if religion was associated with lowered intelligence and education, should it be abolished?
1:45:08 Ok your not scrutinizing your own position with the same reasoning your imposing on the callers position. You said that life is the result of chemicals, but no one has ever witnessed life deriving from chemicals. Scientists have tried for decades to create life from chemicals and failed in every single attempt. Nobody has ever witnessed life deriving from chemicals, so your statement that life is derived from chemicals requires just as much faith as my statement that God created life, except your position excludes the necessity of intelligence. Now most chemical reactions don’t typically take very long to occur they usually occur pretty quick and despite all the knowledge modern scientists possess they still can’t figure it out. So I think you need to apply the same scrutiny to your own position that you impose on the Christian position on this particular topic in order to maintain a fair discussion on the subject. Intelligent design is a very strong piece of evidence supporting the existence of God. It isn’t proof and I don’t think we’ll ever have definitive proof of God’s existence until Judgement Day but we don’t have definitive proof of evolution or the age of the earth and yet atheists have no problem believing in these unproven theories. Now if you’d like to discuss these topics, I’d be happy to discuss them further because I can prove that neither of these topics disprove the existence of God or the validity of the scriptures.
RE incest I suspect that definitions are important. The dynamic that Armin discussed is a familial relationship and not genetic. Two genetic siblings who had no relationship growing up who ensure they can't have children appears to be acceptable given his argument and I suspect this is reasonable and yet this wasn't made clear due to lack of definitions.

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.“

Thanks for the time stamps! The hosts need to come up with a better system of questioning the callers, such that (1) the two hosts don't talk over each other and (2) they take turns more respectfully instead of cutting in, while also allowing the caller to respond to EACH hosts' questions before the other host takes over with MORE questions. The way they handled Josef - MI, for example, was an absolute mess and difficult to listen to. Kudos to the caller for keeping his cool the entire time.

What about the power disparity that exists in patriarchal marriage cultures where the husband is viewed as the head of the family and is often the sole income earner? Wouldn't that make sexual relationships in such marriages unethical since there is a power disparity between the man and the woman, with the woman often being financially dependent on the man and conditioned to always submit to him?

if Armin's standard for a relationship is informed consent amongst adults, then adult relatives should be fine. the power imbalance concept is really independent of adults. his "potential of harm" model fails because who gets to judge what that potential is? using the potential for harm concept would prevent most LGBT+ relationships from happening.
@@JPPan-hq6leyes andrew failed to press him on that matter or he might have been muted as you know armin is a shanghool afterall.

That external source of support can be other people and your own thinking. That external thing needn't be God, right?

RE incest I suspect that definitions are important. The dynamic that Armin discussed is a familial relationship and not genetic.
Two genetic siblings who had no relationship growing up who ensure they can't have children appears to be acceptable given his argument and I suspect this is reasonable and yet this wasn't made clear due to lack of definitions.
It's getting so annoying with Andrew's weird call in arguments now that when I recognize the voice I start skipping to the end just to hear the resolution.
