The film's trailer release had claimed that 32,000 women from Kerala had joined the ISIS when there is no such data to reflect this claim. The filmmakers then edited the description from 32,000 to 3. There are still 4 women in Kerala in an Afghanistan prison whom India has disallowed a return to after their tryst with the Islamic State. Tharoor says the movie's claims are absurd and mendacious.

Since the focus is on Kerala, it would have been great if Barkha's team had brought up the number of ISIS terrorists from every state and how the numbers look with respect to the state population.
How many of those 66 who joined ISIS were from Kerala?

Obvious there are criminals in every state, crimes against men/women happen as well, but when there is an overrepresentation of a state/community in a particular type of crime, it is important to diagnose it and work towards eradicating it. Ignoring it will only lead to more severe crimes in the future and at that time, we will probably be not able to stop it. I hope you get the point.

True story. This is how majority of Muslims adopt Islam world wide. Pakistan had 16% non-muslims in 1947, now its less than 1% non-muslims. Non-muslims were terrorized, raped, taxed with Jaziya tax and economically boycotted with Halal into poverty. Halal is not for meat alone, its for every product. Only if a product is made by majority muslims its halal certified - the facility needs to have atleast 25% muslims - its like 25% reservation for muslims in the work place. Everyone should boycott halal products and seek a ban on halal

But, then u need to understand that there was reduction of population of muslims in India in 1951 statistics. Indian Punjab (which include present day himachal/haryana, as well) used to have 35% muslims, now it is 1%. Similarly , delhi used to have ~ 27% muslims. Jammu used to be muslim majority etc.

Really disappointed with Shashi! A man of his intellect fails to understand what is happening in Kerela or ignores the radicalisation happening in his constituency for political gain. The Kerala story was never meant for Kerala audiences. It was always meant for people who don’t know much about Kerala and get their knowledge about the state through WhatsApp university. So facts never mattered in the first place. What mattered was perception and this movie was designed to reinforce that perception that ultimately feeds into so called ‘other religions’ are in danger. And that perception gets a big boost when the PM as well as other prominent politicians promote this narrative despite knowing fully well that it was false. Extremely shameful. Haven’t see any Indian PM or CMs so openly promoting divisive nonsense.

Long long back I had read a story in some mag or a newspaper about sheiks of Arab countries being offered to come here in India, especially Kerala, get married and have a treat of what a married life means. That included children too. The story told about how Indian girls (especially virgins) were married to these millionaire sheiks who gave away substantial amounts of gifts to the familes where the sheiks got married. Some women were taken to their countries but many weren't. Some children were taken away and got settled there. One story stated how one Arab sheik came to get married in India (Kerala) and got married to his own mother.
The film shouldn't be criticised & judged by mere a confusion between the statistics of '32000' or '3' of women from the state 'Kerala' joining to isis, but by the content it messaged as a whole.

As far as I can tell, 3 is as small a blip as to not register on the radar at all, especially when the number that was being touted was 4 orders of magnitude greater, this is as great a disservice to Muslims as it gets, freedom of expression be damned. People clamouring for it ought to be reminded of the extremely uncharitable images of Prophet Muhammad circulating on Twitter last year, another example of freedom gone berserk. The fact that the country was not up in flames as a result is deserving of heaps of tributes on Muslims. I am glad that the movie has been banned in my state, as it deserves to be, in any sane country. If you want to amplify Hindu Muslim amity, you should lead them lovingly by the hand, not by demonising them on the basis of a few rotten apples gone awry.

What is it about and is it sub titled?
"2018" is a movie about how people unite together irrespective of religion, caste etc to save valuable human lives during a natural disaster. This is true indian spirit. Its true people get radicalised due to religion, caste inequality or economic disparity but one cannot generalise this to the entire population..definitely the title is misleading..
