The news presenter is talking about the fact that the additional application period for applying for a spot at a university or college has just started and that some colleges have received criticism for lowering the required minimum grades to get in. They used "Socialinių mokslų kolegija" as an example institution. I guess they just used your language class footage, because they didn't have any new ones since school hasn't started yet 😂
That's exactly what happened I think 😅😅 it's just funny that they talk about low quality students and show us learning basic lithuanian
@@RhapsodyinLingoDamn, that's hilarious 😂
But don't worry, everyone who watches news knows it's just some random footage and they're not talking about the people shown specifically. There are a lot of cases I've noticed they use footage from years ago sometimes or it's used two times in different stories. It's like youtubers use stock videos, news make and recycle their own videos. That's why if you're filmed by a news cameraman don't expect to see yourself in the news, the footage might be used only next year in some random unrelated story 😆
Wellll be sure to let me know if it ever comes up again, because they definitely have some close-ups of me and my beautiful handwriting 😂😂
@@RhapsodyinLingo no they were not talking about foreign students. they were talking ahout dumb local ones. :) Btw good luck with your studies. When you will be done with learning Lithuanian you can switch to learning old prussian, which is reconstructed baltic language, which died in 16-17 century. It is taught in VU as well :)
Wow! Congrats! :D
Good luck with learning Lithuanian, it's an amazing language! It's one of 2 surviving Baltic languages (together with Latvian) and it's actually very close to the oldest Indo-European language Sanskrit. I learnt Lithuanian at uni and did a semester abroad in Vilnius and I just love love love it ❤
lol just so you know as a lithuanian i hate this language i rather speak english than that
The rarely seen Israel side profile!
ngl I'm not a fan
On TV already! I need to come to university to learn too, its so difficult otherwise.. good luck!
Thats amazing
😂😂😂😂 Well done bro 🤓
😃💪💪💪
I thought I saw this guy somewhere :)
Omg did you see it live on TV 😂😂
@@RhapsodyinLingo watching the evening news
Same, I just watched the previous video, and watched the news and did a double take 😅
@@RhapsodyinLingo they talk about school things *-*
Could someone please tell me the name of the textbook they are using in this class to learn Lithuanian?
Learn and Speak Lithuanian! According to my teacher, what's good about it is that it's not exclusively for classroom use - you can self-study and the audio is available online.
@@RhapsodyinLingo Cool! I will have a look!
xddd
It feels uncanny when the phonology of Lithuanian sounds so similar to Russian but I understand f-k all.
Btw have fun learning Lithuanian!
Lithuanian phonology has few differences from Russian though. I don't think Russian has such sound combinations as "uo" "iau" "au" etc. and of course ending "-as"
Love the diversity of vowels and diphthongs!
@@eruno_ Correct. Lithuanian has quite a few diphthongs. But the “random”/intrinsic stresses, the palatalisation, and the vowel reduction make Lithuanian and Russian sound similar (but obviously not identical) to each other when you are not paying attention.
Not the stress 😭😭😭
@@RhapsodyinLingo It's called stress for a reason - it stresses people out 😂
