I think my favorite ones are the ones with the most intrigue: Silent Line AC4 For Answer "The Silent Line" is still an evocative idea I really like to this day.
ALLMIND might be the hardest boss Fromsoft has made when you have a light build, got stuck for five hours, got mad, second tried it on a tank build, felt too ashamed of myself, went back to it again spent another five hours and after optomising everything I could, I finally won, don't feel confident I could do it again it's the last phase, the first and second have only ever killed me a couple of times, but the third destroys me every time, nothing in DS3 at least comes close, I'd feel more confident fighting Friede.
@@ezoni8438 with a light build you wan't to use something like Trueno's to punish stagger, i think my first allmind kill was with Trueno and two Duckets with Mind Beta(reverse joint)
As an AC fan who only started maybe 3 years before AC6 it was insane to see how good they made AC6. It’s without a doubt the best ac game by a large margin. Its what everyone was really hoping for. My personal favorites are For Answer Last Raven and Silent Line in that order
Honestly, my only critique of For Answer was that i wish we had a few missions with more Normals to fight. Otherwise the crazy build variety you could get with the insane amount of parts made that game kind of unbeaten in the mech customization aspect even today. Hoping a AC6 gets its own For answer type sequel, so we can expand on whats already here.
Most underrated game ever. Still probably the most fun I’ve had with a fromsoft game since my first playthrough of DS1. Hoping we get DLC or a sequel because this shit is peak.

So as far as recommended titles go, here are a few I got for you. Note however that every AC veteran has differing opinions on which gams are the best. Armored Core 3 - Probably the most iconic title in the series. You will recognize the art style from this game and several frame parts that were brought back for Armored Core VI. Note however that this game does not use dual stick controls, so turning and strafing are actual buttons you need to press. Armored Core Last Raven - The final title in the Armored Core 3 series of expansions. The difficulty of this title is quite a bit higher than most Armored Core games, but it is a very enjoyable experience. This is also the only game in the series to feature component damage, so you can have limbs blown off your AC! Armored Core For Answer - IMO this is a much better title than AC4, but the same goes for pretty much ever expansion when compared to their base game. This title is faster than AC4 and some of the Arms Fort boss fights are so memorable and iconic that the series keeps paying homage to them to this day. Armored Core Verdict Day - The expansion to Armored Core V. 5th gen is unique in that it is a more tactical shooter take on the Armored Core formula. A lot of mechanics from ACVI have their infancy in this generation, such as staggering, boost kicking, drift turning and scanning. Although Verdict Day is excellent, the game is almost as difficult as Last Raven is for a newcomer, so make sure you learn how defense stats work in this generation!
@@JayLaVey also if playing ACVD just make sure to finish ACV first it should temper the difficulty of ACVD as by then you are used to the controls of what ever control scheme you set to granted you can't tune in ACV since the servers are dead but starting with more parts in VD is really helpful
I highly recommend Armored Core: Nexus before Last Raven - the two are narratively connected, and you can transfer your parts and builds from Nexus to Last Raven. (I'm biased towards Nexus for being my entry point to the series, and being the first game with twin-stick controls it feels so smooth compared to the unique controls of the old school ACs)
Hey there. Recently started AC:6 PvP myself doing 1v1 Ranked matches (since that's about the only way to 1v1 peeps). Just don't worry about the "Ranked" portion of it. Take your first 10 or so losses humbly, and enjoy the adrenaline pumping action of REALLY going toe to toe with another "Pilot". Makes me feel just like V.I Freud the battle junky the way each fight feels, and how it makes you enjoy much more flexibility to mech designs just to see what work.
Just can't take the pvp seriously with mechanics like hard lock, no turn speed and a decoupled camera, riccochet and godawful stagger. The skill ceiling practically IS the skill floor, there is hardly any player skill expression allowed. The pve is amazing though.
I love in the first game you learn about people being augmented in a program called Human+ that have special abilities and then when you get a game over you are greeted to a video of you on an operating table with some guys talking about how you acquired a ton of debt and may or may not survive this experiment. But the more you die the more abilities you start getting so its a way to make the gane easier but its written into the lore that you start to become Human+ but the game is cryptic about it. Fromsoft has always been amazing with their story telling even wirh their early games.
Glad you did. It feel tired to attempt to get people into the game cause they don't like mecha. If people could look through the mecha things, it is a damn good story on top of mecha mechanic and anime fight.
Hohhh boy, can't wait to hear how you feel about 4Answer. Get ready for some crazy whiplash. Glad to hear you enjoyed 6, welcome to the merc life Raven! I definitely recommend giving the older gen (1 -3) a try. Learning to even control your machine is a skill in itself and is super satisfying once you've got the hang of it. Those games are also way more brutal - no mission farming for infinite money, and the mission payouts/costs are a lot harsher. You can find yourself in debt or even gameover real easy. Loads of fun : D
I struggled with the game a bit at first, once I beat Balteus things went a lot smoother. I mostly played light bipedal, and if I struggled I would go double zim double LCS a lot. It quickly became my favorite game. It has no real weakness. Great story, graphics, performance, sound design, atmosphere and lore, characters, progression, mission structure, difficulty, combat, controls, etc. etc. etc. I'm glad I hung in there instead of rage quitting like a lot of others. No idea how this game isn't more popular. It's so good in every way.
Yo please don't be afraid to try pvp. Most people who hop in find a good community, and are so glad they gave it a try! Trust me, there's nothing like defeating others in fast mech combat, even acknowledging that high skill curve. Great vid; we're happy to see you joining in on the Armored Core fun.
@@JayLaVey I don't play any pvp game but, bro, AC6 pvp is just top notch. If you like cooking builds in your garage and test them on the battlefield, pvp is made for you. And as the skill ceiling is really high, the more you rank up the more you learn and it's so rewarding. Surely the best experience I had for a long while.
Armored Core Nexus is a solid if not longwinded title in the series. I give it bonus points since it's one of the first few AC games to use the right stick on the controller.
AC:FA is fantastic. If you go for all of the endings, the opening dialouge of Occupation of Arteria Carpals has been permanently burned into my brain from all the game overs.
If you're gonna try the 3rd gen after playing 4A, you should play them in this order: -3 -Silent Line (carry over the save) -Nexus (optional) -Last Raven (CARRY OVER THE SAVE FROM NEXUS IF YOU PLAYED IT) in 3 and SL you're gonna be thrown for a loop with the oldgen controls, they do not use the twin sticks for moving and turning. But believe me, it's worth it to learn them (also you can edit them on the options to make them a bit more sane: swap the strafing and turning from shoulders to d-pad and you should be good) and the 3-Silent Line duology is amazing in plot, gameplay and general vibes. Nexus and LR will allow you to use twin sticks again, but both get MUCH harder than the previous two, which you'll probably find pretty easy after 4th and 6th gen. Last Raven has the infamy that it has in the community for a reason, but it's still a great game.
Glad you like the game. I was very happy with the game, but this wasnt my first game in the series. That honor belongs to Verdict Day. Though I also emulated the older games get a feel for them. Just an FYI for Gens 1 and 2 games, you do need to be in debt for any benefits. This includes better radar, laser blade waves like Moonlight in AC6 (tip, press the slash button and immediately hit the boost button), and to stand up while firing the heavy back units. Gens 3 do have OP Intesify. However, you need to beat the game and re do some missions and arena fights in AC3 after completing the game. While Silent Line you need 99% and S ranks. However, Nexus and Last Raven you dont have OP-I without cheats. If you do plan on playing Gen 5 with ACV and VD, play ACV first if you want as it's very beginner friendly. Granted, grinding for the store to expand is also a chore itself. Still it does help you get a quick feel with the controls for gen 5. Or go straight to VD, but be prepared to grind for money in the game. As for the store expanding, you need to get S ranks and complete the mission sub objectives. Where in ACV, reaching 50 is a grind, you can complete the story missions does help out a lot. But your choice.
I have an old ps3 so I thought about buying a few of the titles there... until I saw the price. Emulating hasn't been too difficult so far. Shout out to the AC discord.
Armored Core 3 and Silent Line are both great. I highly recommend you play those two next after For Answer. The default controls are jank, but the game does have button mapping in its options menu, or you can use emulator remapping if you like. There are guides online to give the older games analog controls on emulators. Last Raven is my favorite entry that isn't AC6, but I'd recommend playing most of the rest of the series before tackling that one. The controls in it are great, but it's also literally one of the hardest games From Software has ever made. It's an amazing experience though with highly varied branching paths, six endings, and an insane amount of parts. It's the definitive game for old-school Armored Core customization. For Answer is incredible, and I actually think it has my favorite world building in the series. AC6's plot is better, but the global power struggle and shadow operations going on in the fourth gen games are so intriguing. Those mission briefing videos are great.
Glad to see you enjoying the games if you want my personal suggestions after finishing AC For Answer. You could try Armoured Core 5 it's a mixed bag some people like it some really don't so it's up to you but it's a good lead into AC Verdict day, which is a surprisingly solid game and has some fun references to AC4 and For Answer.
3rd generation is really fun. The PvP is also worth checking out. Despite the wonky netcode it’s a great way to see all the creative builds people are using.
Definitely have to play the 3rd gen games. I feel like Silent Line is the best AC game of the older gen games (1-3). Some don’t like AC5 and Verdict Day. I personally love VD but I can understand why some don’t like the gen 5 games - especially in your case where you’ll be coming of probably the two fastest AC games
For Answer PvP on emulator is actually active. They've just started making their own modded balance patches. For Answer duels are fucking amazing, can't recommend trying that out enough.
Hard agree with Arquebus Balteus being the best boss. Its an actually good refight of an old boss with new moves abd kitted out with sick new energy weapons like the awesome plasma beam cannons. Snail's VA does such an incredible job of getting you motivated to kill him. His snobby bad mouthing is as entertaining as it is good at making him easy to hate. And all of this while the best track in the OST is blasting at nax volume in the background.
Some of the best games in the series are: For Answer Armored Core 3 Silent Line Armored Core 1 Master of Arena There are more good ones than that, but those are some of my favorites.
Use a kikbunk build!!! melander parts left hand pilebunker right hand harris right shoulder majestic (weapon bay) left shoulder flex slot booster kikaku generator san tai FCS ocellus
Its insane that this game made you care about characters that you never see. You just hear their voices and you are charmed by them. I love this game so much and played it on launch.
I'd recommend the gen 1 games (AC original, master of arena, and project phantasma) it's 3 games but the narrative of all 3 are connected as one experience. If you do play them though, I would advise against using the default control scheme. I would remap it so that you use the face buttons as a second d pad to control the camera.
Ace Combat also replicates this feeling of ‘badassery’ and just like Armored Core the franchise is underrated. Ace Combat 4,5 and Zero are great but PS2 era. Ace Combat 6 is the modern entry. Both great franchises are abbreviated as AC, coincidence? No, destiny. Become pilot, acquire guns, go brrr
ACFA is fantastic especially on the inf booster regulation after i would recommend AC3 or AC3SL. Nexus is a bit too stripped down, and Last Raven is brutal.
I hope fromsoft takes more deviations from the souls formula in the future. As much as i love the souls games, Sekiro and AC6 were such amazing experiences. Truly showing that the studio can excel at something other than souls action RPGs. I hope their next game is something else entirely.
If you ever stuck on any part of the game: dual Zimmerman + songbird or if already unlocked dual stun needles. It doesn’t matter who is road blocking you. Just use the universal key. If it’s to meta for you even all the nerfs. Dual plasma + dual laser canon ( back ) or songbirds are also very reliable in clearing road blocks 😄 P.s. Just entered ng+ 2 weeks ago. Had no time for this masterpiece of a game when it was released.
You should definitely play armored core verdict day, many people say that it is one of the worst in the series but once you really understand the bases of the game you realize that it is perfectly designed to be played more strategically, in my opinion I would not say that it is the best armored core but in terms of mechanics I would say that it is the most successful and balanced.
my biggest flex is that i one tried snailtaeus.. Annoyed my friend cause after i did it i joined the VC he was in and was like "man...that boss was a lil B***" and he informed me that was the boss that gave him the most trouble of any boss in the game.
I’d say Armored Core 3 is good gateway drug into the older style of gameplay that AC games had back before proper dual analog. Armored Core Games tend to reboot every few games, so AC3 is basically a rewritten AC1/PP/MOA Story with different Characters and Vibes overall, a good taste of the older style. I’ve been through nearly every game in the series, and the only one I’ve really disliked so far is Last Raven. Not because it’s bad but because it’s the most difficult Video Game I’ve ever played in my entire life XD So if you ever do play through all the games in the series I’d save that for when you’re a fully fledged Raven at the end of your journey, because it kicks you while you’re down quite a bit, especially on the Harder Routes.
Classic Armored core is always cool just for seeing where the series came from and having some iconic series stuff. Aside from the original my favorites that are worth playing are probably (in order) 4a(4 attatched here but 4a better) Last Raven Nexus Silent Line Nine Breaker 2 Master of the Arena VD (5 and VD are kinda controversial ish but theyre really neat, especially if youve played the rest of the series. VD *PARTICULARLY* so if youve played 4 and 4a ) There is something to get from all of them and theyre not incredibly long. If you go on a huge binge the only one id say to avoid is Formula Front only because its an autobattler gimmick game. Interesting for game history's sake but not that fun to actually play.
@@JayLaVey One last small note. If you're interested in Miyazaki lore he started with Last Raven and directed 4/4a before his transition to souls. You can sniff out his style if youve got a good nose!
NGL, it is kinda frustrating the number of people who magically are into Armored Core now that Fromsoftware has made a new entry, when the older games were and still are good. Before Armored Core 6 came out, getting people who were "Souls" fans to give the AC games a try was like pulling teeth. But now Armored Core is worth playing now. Glad you enjoyed it I guess.

Old Gen AC can be much brutal. Espescially gen 3 with no-pity mechanic (getting human upgrade if you keep failing) I really suggest to remap your button first before you decide to play, those tank control are archaic and Fromsoft was too stubborn to change it

This game is a 10/10 GOTY 2023 and best action game that I played in a while. Laser dagger is the most op melee in the game btw. I like the fact that any Ac that you can make you can make it work and beat the game with anything and for me the best AC I made is a light weight with the dual Sampu with a huxley on the right shoulder and the laser dagger switch on the left and just by going crazy fast you stagger so fast on anything that the assault armor is a most for maximum dps. or in 3v3 just get anything a bit more tankier and get aoi gun. This is a video game movie. Hopefully we get a dlc I want to play more but I completed everythings in this game all ending all achievement so only the pvp is what make this replayable for me rn.

AC6 was my GOTY over Baldur's Gate 3, sorry guys. I think AC6 has better story, better combat, and even better characters despite most of them simply being voices. BG3 has a lot less linearity for sure, but on all the things that matters most I think AC6 blows BG3 out of the water, and I was always thought Larian was criminally underrated while From Soft was criminally overrated, but AC6 made me rethink that entirely. At least with those two games, for me, the reverse is true. I think AC6 was significantly better, and that's not a slight to BG3, it is a testament to how underrated AC6 actually is.
I played all gens of AC except 4th gen sadly. Play verdict day its DIFFERENT compared to the other AC games but final boss is amazing so r the ultimate weapons u unlock after beating him
Ending C best ending. A) You won't be remembered fondly for that. You burned Rubicon and you'll be hunted for the rest of your life. B) The fighting will never end. You fought off the Corporations. Yay. Now um....Did you forget those were just the expedition parties? Also the RLF is trash, so have fun getting nowhere. C) You freed the coral. You freed Rubicon. Thanks to ALLMIND, all ties to everyone and everything 621 had in this mess are gone. Nobody can come after you. Nobody can hold you for anything. Nobody even knows 621 is alive. You are free.

The best fromsoft game ever
You're gonna LOVE AC4A. Unlike every other Armored Core game, _It's directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki._
Actually, you are incorrect. He also directed AC 4 and had smaller involvements in ac 5, ac verdict day, and last raven.
@@Armored_Core_Guy Was unaware he worked on AC4, thought it was just 4a, and had no idea about ACV, ACVD, and Last Raven. Thanks for the clarification though.
If you want multiple endings, go for Last Raven
I just finally beat the new game ++ 🎉🎉🎉🎉 insanse game that last boss was hard but not gonna lie didnt feel as hard as the Ayre fight in New Game+. I kinda miss the Kojama missiles and armor, but love the stagger system, the boost kick, different ways to approach bosses too. Especially going into the second play through, u can feel how much easier say fighting the second boss the second time lol spent DAYS trying to beat him and then the second play through one time 😂😂
So as far as recommended titles go, here are a few I got for you.
@@Simon-fc9hg Thanks for the suggestions! Looking forward to Last Raven.
As a veteran member of the remnant community. I highly recommend remnant 1 and especially 2.
I really enjoyed Remnant 1, but haven't played the sequel. Ill have to pick it up soon!

big fan of this “armored core” game, it is a game.👍
4 Answer is wild. It the peak of the old gen Armored Core. They have a really interesting mechanic in it that I wish had of made it into AC6.
I love going to ranked and ending with a fist fight
I bought it last year but just started it this past Saturday. It's awesome. I forgot how sick mech games could be. I love it
Glad you did.
This was my first proper AC game and I had a blast
I struggled with the game a bit at first, once I beat Balteus things went a lot smoother. I mostly played light bipedal, and if I struggled I would go double zim double LCS a lot. It quickly became my favorite game. It has no real weakness. Great story, graphics, performance, sound design, atmosphere and lore, characters, progression, mission structure, difficulty, combat, controls, etc. etc. etc. I'm glad I hung in there instead of rage quitting like a lot of others.
No idea how this game isn't more popular. It's so good in every way.
Id recommend AC: The Last Raven. Its been over 15 years and i still remember the high of beating the last level.
Youve convinced me lol. Thanks for watching!
@@JayLaVeythere is a pretty decent sized and dedicated community for PVP
Armored Core Nexus is a solid if not longwinded title in the series. I give it bonus points since it's one of the first few AC games to use the right stick on the controller.
AC:FA is fantastic. If you go for all of the endings, the opening dialouge of Occupation of Arteria Carpals has been permanently burned into my brain from all the game overs.
If you're gonna try the 3rd gen after playing 4A, you should play them in this order:
-3
-Silent Line (carry over the save)
-Nexus (optional)
-Last Raven (CARRY OVER THE SAVE FROM NEXUS IF YOU PLAYED IT)
in 3 and SL you're gonna be thrown for a loop with the oldgen controls, they do not use the twin sticks for moving and turning.
Beating this game without any guns was one of the most fun I've had with a personal challenge in a long time. Yes, even the Ice worm
@@pancholopez8829 I appreciate the info. Thank you!
god damn i wish there was an easier way to play old gen armored core games
I have an old ps3 so I thought about buying a few of the titles there... until I saw the price. Emulating hasn't been too difficult so far. Shout out to the AC discord.
He's gonna love For Answer so much, and hopefully appreciated ac4 too, i cnt help but feel ac4 is underrated
Ac4 has fans but I personally rank it at the bottom of AC games for me.
FA is, like, the fan favorite. Not my favorite, that would go to VD and AC6
@@RippahRooJizah thats fair
The third gen is definitely the one to do after AC4A, but make sure to get a guide how to do Nemesis Route. After that, try it from the beginning.
We just had a patch on September 19th. Massive changes to balance. The PvP community is amazing and always welcomes new players.
The patch was my push. Having a great time! Thanks for watching!
Great fkn review. You’re on your way up man
Thank you! I appreciate you watching.
Some of the best games in the series are:
For Answer
Armored Core 3
Silent Line
Armored Core 1
Master of Arena
There are more good ones than that, but those are some of my favorites.
Use a kikbunk build!!!
melander parts
left hand pilebunker
right hand harris
right shoulder majestic (weapon bay)
left shoulder flex slot
booster kikaku
generator san tai
FCS ocellus
Its insane that this game made you care about characters that you never see. You just hear their voices and you are charmed by them. I love this game so much and played it on launch.
I'd recommend the gen 1 games (AC original, master of arena, and project phantasma) it's 3 games but the narrative of all 3 are connected as one experience. If you do play them though, I would advise against using the default control scheme. I would remap it so that you use the face buttons as a second d pad to control the camera.
AC6 is so great. It was my game of the year 2023.
It’s sad you had to miss out on balteus pre nerf, it was by far one of my favourite bosses to fight after I beat the game before it was nerfed
I wish they’d give this game more dlc so bad. Really hope they are working on a lil something.
ACFA is fantastic especially on the inf booster regulation
after i would recommend AC3 or AC3SL. Nexus is a bit too stripped down, and Last Raven is brutal.
With you on the Souls games. Still not into this game, but I’m glad you enjoyed. Shoutout to Isolation Man though. Iykyk.
Ayyyy! Isolation Man is literally the best.
Dual plasma + dual laser canon ( back ) or songbirds are also very reliable in clearing road blocks 😄
P.s.
Just entered ng+ 2 weeks ago. Had no time for this masterpiece of a game when it was released.
Good luck raven hope you enjoy Ng+ and Ng++
AC6 aside, my favorites were the original, Project Phantasma, 2 Another Age, V and Verdict Day.
There's a reason the community revived it on pc, it's just that good
I would call VD one of the best AC games, though.

my biggest flex is that i one tried snailtaeus.. Annoyed my friend cause after i did it i joined the VC he was in and was like "man...that boss was a lil B***" and he informed me that was the boss that gave him the most trouble of any boss in the game.
Armored core verdict day please play verdict day
We fly high Raven
I’d say Armored Core 3 is good gateway drug into the older style of gameplay that AC games had back before proper dual analog. Armored Core Games tend to reboot every few games, so AC3 is basically a rewritten AC1/PP/MOA Story with different Characters and Vibes overall, a good taste of the older style.
I’ve been through nearly every game in the series, and the only one I’ve really disliked so far is Last Raven. Not because it’s bad but because it’s the most difficult Video Game I’ve ever played in my entire life XD
So if you ever do play through all the games in the series I’d save that for when you’re a fully fledged Raven at the end of your journey, because it kicks you while you’re down quite a bit, especially on the Harder Routes.
Classic Armored core is always cool just for seeing where the series came from and having some iconic series stuff.
Aside from the original my favorites that are worth playing are probably (in order)
4a(4 attatched here but 4a better)
Last Raven
Nexus
Silent Line
Nine Breaker
2
Master of the Arena
VD (5 and VD are kinda controversial ish but theyre really neat, especially if youve played the rest of the series. VD *PARTICULARLY* so if youve played 4 and 4a )
There is something to get from all of them and theyre not incredibly long. If you go on a huge binge the only one id say to avoid is Formula Front only because its an autobattler gimmick game. Interesting for game history's sake but not that fun to actually play.
@ZectorV1 Thanks for the input! I'm stoked to get cracking on these. Loving For Answer right now.

My final build that I beat the game and all mission with s rank. : ["MA-E-211 SAMPU","MA-E-211 SAMPU","BO-044 HUXLEY","VP-67LD","IB-C03H: HAL 826","EL-PC-00 ALBA","VP-46D","NACHTREIHER/42E","ALULA/21E","IA-C01F: OCELLUS","IA-C01G: AORTA","ASSAULT ARMOR"]

Armored Core Phantasma was fun. I haven't tried anything else except Armored Core Last Raven but I will warn you to not play Armored Core Formula Front (it is a nice game but not for all. it focuses on building only and observing since AC control is automatic and AI calibration even if ENG version allows manual control).
