    Fabulous! You have to wake up every morning, so proud of all you accomplished! Your house, outdoor kitchen, chicken coop, communication tower, carport, sawmill shed #1, workshop, sawmill shed #2, privy, smoke house. Did I forget anything? I hope you live to 100 to continue to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

      We try to be safe as we work. Some things I have just done my whole life and don’t even think twice about it. I think. Like getting up on the roof doesn’t bother me at all walking around up there working but it does other folks. Anyway, thanks for the comment. Hope you have a great weekend.

    Looking great in the Great Smoky Mountains folks. Great job with all the help you had around there Richard, Jennifer and her family always are a big help and she is becoming quite an apprentice. The new sawmill shed is coming right along and being underroof helps. Keep up the great videos and the fun you all have around there. Fred.

    Hello Jennifer Richard & Patrick 👋😁
    Richard i was in Awe 😲 when i saw that Receiver Hitch Piece made for hauling Canoe 🛶!!!!!!! Because a friend of mine just built me one almost identical to haul my 14 foot canoe 🛶 . What's funny 😂 is I've went and bought the same DOT reflective Tape stickers to put on the 3 visible sides of mine. I bought the stickers in the automotive section of Walmart. So since im a ex trucker 🚛 so i know the same DOT stickers go on Trailers on Tractor Trailers 😁.
    I'm installing 2 big eye bolts 🔩 on mine for s ratchet strap to ratchet my canoe 🛶 down go to the ride bar canoe will be sitting on. Pretty cool to see that you have got just about the same reese hitch hauling bar for yours.
    👍😁👍

    I LOVED the shot at about 730 where you are driving up the road with the log and it cuts to you backing out of the sawmill with the grapple full of boards! Excellent!

    Hey Richard and Jennifer - its been a while. Busy as a one armed paper hanger!! Michele had a great time in the smokey mountains. She laughed about the hillbillies cruse night in Pigeon Forge. Talk about tail gate parties!!! I chased her around the house after she got back and blew out my knee. Ah but it was worth it!! Ha ha ha ! Love to see Smokey and Dolly heading to the creek! What a blast!! Great job on the building!

    Richard if you have enough hickory in your area, I would cut hickory planking for the floor in the shop.
    One of my Great uncles in his shop had thick hickory hickory flooring that was very solid and was hard as concrete at 75 years old.
    He even used Hickory on the floor of his smokehouse where he cured out and smoke many Tennessee salt cured Country hams that people came for miles around to buy, and yes I know how he did them, and you don't need refrigeration to store them, just a dark room.
    Those hams made some of the best Red Eye Gravy and when served with biscuits, eggs and Ham, it was to die for.
    Uncle Freddy and Uncle Georgie both cured the best hams.

    Hey brother, have ya thought about turning your old sawmill building into a wood stove heated drying kiln? Just use some old roof tin sheets and line the inside, strengthen the double doors, pick up an old used pressure vessel and now you have a wood fired heater...

    • @SmokyMountainOutpost
      @SmokyMountainOutpost  4 місяці тому +2

      Thought about it. Going to build one later. That old sawmill building needs to come down because I think it’s an eyesore. And I’ll be able to sit on the front porch and look out over the new workshop. We’re going to build a small gazebo with a nice fire pit right there in front of the cabin and try to keep all the larger buildings out and away from it. But you have a really good idea.

      Everything works as set up. I want sawdust going outside the stall. The log lays like it is because of direction of mill. I would have to turn mill around to work properly

    Sawdust! Dustcrete. There is a youtuber who uses sawdust to make a sort of aircrete type building material. Very interesting.
