    So glad I saw someone put the miter saw on the right end of the table! Every video I've seen has it on the left, which doesn't make sense for a right hander cutting a long board. Hopefully I get the time to make one of these myself. Beautiful details!!

    • @vanislestudio
      @vanislestudio  Місяць тому

      I put it on that side, because like you mentioned Ben, I like to control the saw with my dominant hand (right), making it easy for me to see the cut, and hold the piece in place with my left hand, providing the maximum for cutting a long board. Thanks for noticing by brother! All the best to you

    Hi VanIsle Studio,
    Out of curiosity, have you made any progress on this build ?
    I can't wait to see more of it, it is outstanding and I do hope you incorporate more tools into it to make it the ultimate workbench.
    A thickness planer that would use the entire workbench as an infeed and outfeed would be great, and also, a jointer that would do the same, with possibly a removable "top" to make up for the difference in thickness (workbench's top would be the jointer's outfeed height).
    Would also LOVE to see them being built in a mechanism that allows for easy lift/lower of the tools (idea: scissor lift-like mechanism)

    Good grief man, this is inspiring! Your dad raised quite a creative son! Amazing work. Can I ask what camera you're shooting with? I'm guessing something over 4K based on the quality of your pan & scan shots. Maybe a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K?

    • @vanislestudio
      @vanislestudio  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Troy, I think that is awesome and humbling that you found my video inspiring. Thank you so much for that! It means a lot for me to read your comment, and I love spending all the time I can with my folks. I use Go Pro , Sony A7III with Sigma F1.4 35mm lens, and all those smooth shots came from my new iPhone. If I move quickly with the phone, it appears smoother when slowed down in Final Cut. But when you slow down a clip, you miss frames, so, final cut has a feature called "Optical flow" that fills in those missing frames. That's what makes the clip appear so smooth. All the best Troy!

    7:36 hate to be one of those UA-cam commenters that give ideas on subjects with limited hands on experience, but without a riving knife, this cut makes me nervous. Your hands are between the fence and the saw so any kick back will rotate them into the saw as you finish the cut. A lot of people that joint on their table saw build a simple jointing sled which allows them to clamp the wood down and keep their hands away from the blade. Might be a good next project. Awesome video by the way

    In the "middle" of the Workbench build (the plans are truly amazing)... but I'm modifying it heavily to incorporate a planer and jointer and two sections of the table top will be removable (the jointer and planer are on jacks... jointer is on a motorcycle lift and planer is on scissor jack)... the length I'm extending to 11'4" and to compensate for the added weight I'm using 2x6 instead of 2x4 but your plans are pretty darn easy to modify because they are so freaking good to begin with. I say all that so that if someone actually reads this they will know that they should not hesitated for an instant to purchase your plans. THANK YOU!!! for the tremendous amount of work you did on them.
