While I didn't really care for this mechanic, I really wish it would have existed in Demon's Souls, since it would have made by far the most sense lore-wise in that game.
Here's a cursed blood echo fact. If a chalice dungeon has an ambush encounter take care not to die. Found out those can take your echoes when they're not spawned. Weirdest thing. Bone Ash cosplay hunter killed me. Couldn't find the bloodstain. Ran over said ambush trigger and then I noticed one of them had the echoes. Rather weird.
If you're fast enough (or die near the lamp), you can actually see the enemy walk over and pick up your bloodstain and then return to their regular patrol.

I want out! But seriously, Bloodborne was my first Fromsoft soulsborne game and i loved 95% of my experience in it, the last 5% was the cursed chalice dungeons and i hated it but gotta get that Beast Claw and Queen Yharnam kill for the trophy!
I love how Bloodborne "evolve" the fear within me. The enemies in Bloodborne are horrifying/intimidating/grotesque/aggressive/etc. - all the quality that induce fear. In other games, you're mostly the good overcoming the bad. In Bloodborne, you are the hunter and those horrendous enemies are your prey. You're becoming an even worse monster consuming those fear inducing abominations. It's "I'm the one who knocks" moment in not just gameplay but also the lore.
"Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt..." To me, that is still one of the most haunting lines in the soul series given context. Not to mention the respectable battle and amazing theme that follows it. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, sir. Well done.
Winter Lanterns ARE scary, but I have never had any trouble killing them. All you gotta do is run straight up to them to bait out a grab attack. Fire your gun when their arms fling out at their widest and you can parry the grab, and get a visceral. The crucial part is getting the timing right so that you proc Frenzy DURING your visceral animation. Do it right, and even though you will technically have procced Frenzy, your character will take 0 damage. Makes killing Winter Lanterns a breeze.
This was my first fromsoft game as well (technically) and my god, what a game! I view my gaming life in 2 phases. Before Bloodborne and after Bloodborne.
The actual reason a different enemy can end up with your echoes is because of how the system actually works. Your echoes are always placed on the ground, but if an enemy walks over them then they pick them up. Hence it often being the enemy that killed you, but not always.
I don't think this is true. There was an instance when I was down in the ground and got killed by a bomb throwing bastard AND he took my echoes. He wasn't able to walk where I died
@@artemdemenko2822 There are 4 possibilities. I’m wrong, you’re wrong, it was a bug, OR it’s a result of how your bloodstain placement is calculated. Your echoes/bloodstain are placed down on a 10(?) second delay. Hence fall damage placing your bloodstain above where you fell from, not where you died. So it is possible that 10 seconds before you died you were standing in a location where that enemy could get to. I could just be totally misremembering how enemies get your echoes though.
@@AlexBrogan96No, you are correct. I actually made a post explaining this as well, I've seen the enemies pick up my echos just as I got back. They are left on the ground until either you or the devil's porkchop picks them up.
This is by far the best recap of Bloodborne's lore. How you make sense of it in such a short and smooth way is impressive. 10/10 vid, i'm sold again about this game
What I find amazing is how people say the atmosphere feels like they don’t belong there. Meanwhile in my first playthrough I felt the opposite, my first thought immediately after getting access to central yharnam was. “Alright let’s hunt.” I felt like a hunter who was in a dark forest and just stepped into my prey’s territory. But at the same time as a dark souls player I understood that getting overconfident, like an actual hunt, could end up with me getting killed
Bloodborne weapons are so good that you can legit take your starting weapon through the entire game and it’s actually viable the entire game as I did with the hunter’s Axe.
The reason the blood echos are held by a different enemy when you come back is because they actually are left on the ground, so any random mob can pick them up if they happen to pass by. I've seen it happen.
the level design in this game is shockingly perfect. when doing speed runs, not only are items placed expertly along the path, but a huge number of areas match up the size of an area with the starting stamina that it had to be intentional.
As a big Lovecraft fan, it's no wonder this is my absolute fav FromSoft game. The slow shift from gothic horror to cosmic horror as you progress through the story is chef kiss worthy
I have been binging your soulsborne videos All day. You have a great voice and cadence for story telling with good offhanded humor moments like meme clips and your own mini skits. You tell great reviews that encompass the whole of the games worth while providing fair criticism. You have earned a subscriber who looks forward to your next video and wishes you all the best in your career. And remember, don’t you dare go hollow.
Yharnam might be my favorite place in any of these games. I was so excited when Bloodborne was announced, I bought the game before I even had a PS4. Also, I found Lawrence and Ebrietas harder than Kos. I really enjoyed Kos.
Bloodborne is my favorite video game of all time. Nothing comes close the only thing itching on my mind to play close to this game is Symphony of the night. But damn do I love bloodborne and the multiple builds you can make. I’m on 4 different profile and in multiple new game pluses. It’s too addicting.
I think Bloodborne is the pinnacle of soulslike games by far, the best boss design & combat , best parry mechanic and overall visual aesthetic. I want a PC release or PS5 patch more than any other game having 60 or higher fps with a boost to 4k would make this game one of the very few deserving of a genuine masterpeice award.
Bloodborne is my favourite game. Elden Ring almost beat it but because of Mountaintops, Bloodborne remains on top cause its absolute perfection from start to finish. Also Bloodborne has the best score/atmospheric music in any video game ever.
@@DionPanday You either have not played Bloodborne or are unable to feel it. Cause only if you feel this game, you know what I or basically everyone with the same opinion is talking about.

The woman talking during the cutscene at 41:45 is not Maria. It's probably taken from one of the villagers in Fishing Hamlet whom you can hear mumbling amongst themselves after you defeat The Orphan. Maria and the Doll have a distinct accent and therefore her voice would be pretty recognizable.
Everyone who loves bloodborne should give Steelrising a chance, it’s a little rough in the beginning but man I’m enjoying my time with it. Its essentially bloodborne but with robots during the French Revolution
On my 4th playthrough of bloodborne right now... I didnt start playing it until like 3 years ago. Really is amazing... I was worried i would get bored on this playthrough because i just played it 6 months ago.. But nope.. Im completely addicted again.. Chose a dif weapon, the axe, and gonna level arcane to use those weird weapons
I installed this game back in dec 2023, played it for about 30-45 minutes, died about 10 times, and threw it away... a couple of months later (march 2024), I gave it another chance... have been fucking ADDICTED ever since... and this is coming from someone who played PES/MK for the majority of his "gaming" life
This is still IMO. The greatest game ever made. Funny thing is. I only got it because of the hype and getting a ps4 and wanting to play something different: being a horror fan I figured I would try it: well I did. And I HATED IT. But I kept wanting to see why it was so hard. So I would pick it up. Learning this style game without looking anything up was almost impossible. Then I beat the area I couldn’t get though @ the start. So I wanted to see more. No hame has ever done that to me. Blood borne is legendary.
It really is. This should be next in line for a remake. Grant eyes to everyone... Even the PC player. Sekiro is absolutely top notch too. Not just gameplay, but story wise. FS really excels at novel IPs. I just learned the other day that a vaguely, fondly remember game from my childhood - Lost Kingdoms - was a fromsoft game. They're just so creative, and are so good at telling at story
12:24 The echos actually work a little different than this, the reason they are sometimes laying on the ground is because they always are, like other fromsoft games. But in bloodborne enemies can pick them up by walking over it, just like you. That’s why it seems random to what enemy has them and not always the one that killed you, because a different enemy picked them up.
Once I became able to see the Amygdalae(yes, that's what it is plural) in Cathedral Ward once I accumulated enough insight - I was convinced there had to be more spooky "differences" that would arise once you had enough
14:38 wait a minute… ain’t that also Joey “Two-Hands”?! Lol, love the Dunkey reference. Great and fun video analysis on one of the best games ever made!
when you talked about maria, the moment you started talking, you took my words out of my mouth and threw them back at me, bro are you my bloody soulmate :3
Bloodborne and Elden Ring are both amazing. The thing is, Without the BB dlc, BB does not stack up. So if the Elden Ring dlc is as focused and perfect as the Bloodborne dlc, I think it will be obvious which game is better.
When the worst thing people can say about Bloodborne is the 30 fps cap and farming blood vials, you know its something special. And even those flaws are easy to overlook when you realize what they really achieved by capping the fps and how justified killing enemies for healing items really is in the context of the story. Its been said by many, but this is truly a masterpiece
There are many other flaws like: -Chalice Dungeons in general are very bad with so many boss repeats in a short linear-game, if it was open-world you can excuse that. - Bosses roster are the weakest compared to Dark Souls 3, Sekiro & Elden Ring, if it wasn't for its DLC, rarely would anyone bring it up in bosses discussions. - It has too many enemy repetitions in the base game & DLC, the Yharnam villagers & the wolf beasts, female witches/villagers, crows, you see them a lot. - Poorly made RPG upgarde attributes & Blood Gem system is half-baked. I could go on, but the game is amazing nonetheless, but I just hate it when pretend that it's "perfect" when in reality, if you compare it next to Elden Ring for example, it really pales.
@@HeyTarnished I agree full send! Guess it's a matter of loving something in spite of it's flaws, but as you said it isnt perfect. A masterpiece nonetheless, but imperfect. The best thing these games do is iterate on their working formula to make it better every time. Which is really why Elden Ring is so popular
@@HeyTarnished I think that in hindsight a lot of this stuff is okay. (Except for online stuff, net code still being horrible in elden ring is genuinely bonkers) - "weak boss roster and recycled enemies" in elden ring I literally got sick and disappointed when I would see a new area but the enemy would just be another crucible knight, tree sentinel, and those living tree worm things. At least in bloodborne you know you're going through a city, of course most of the enemies are just ugly beast dudes. - poorly made leveling system....... How exactly? I see people mention this and besides the lack of respec none of it really bothered me. I think the only leveling system that really got to me and annoyed me was dark souls 3 and scattered tree fragments. - chalice dungeons. This is a big one that alot of people seriously misunderstood the purpose of. They were meant to serve as alternative easy content that players chewed through while they were maybe stuck on a challenge in the main sections of the game. If you wanted something familiar and quick, that could give you a sense of progression but you didn't want to keep going through the main game for whatever reason, you can do a chalice dungeon. But the main game was very balanced and had almost no extreme difficulty spikes, so most players didn't even think to do them until maybe 50-75% completion of the game. And then they would do most of the chalice dungeons so fast that they could see most of its content in just a few hours, making it all blend together. TLDR: for this point^ The chalice dungeons are highly effective for their INTENDED purpose and extremely useful for controlling overall build quality consistently. And the procedurally generated nature of them has lead to MANY discoveries that actually contributed to the development of the game long after fromsoftware stopped updating the game. Just look up "false depth chalice dungeons" No other souls game has systems like this. Elden ring is the one with the plentiful useless dungeons lmao.
I love the Winter Lanterns, they really elevate the game from action to horror any time you hear their singing. It also feels good to beat them up once you get a hang of them. Btw this video has great editing, I cracked up every time I heard Micolash. He's such a goof.
Just wanted to say that I really like your channel. You will see an exponential increase in subscriber count if you stay the course. It's well-written and well-delivered. Appreciate the hard work.
about micolash, you don’t need to follow him for 15 minutes there are I think 3 patterns of running which can be countered in under 1 minute and he will go into the fight room
He goes in the same direction you do, look at where he stops. Once he turns 3 times just run back and down the center. Then beat the shit out of him and run up stairs and on the side of a bridge, throw poison daggers at him before dropping down. Easy ass boss
Just finished my first playthrough, and i was honestly expecting more. The main game bosses were almost all average or below in fight quality. There were a lot of average or even annoying base game areas as well. The base game is a 6/10 for me. The dlc is an 8.5 though. Definetly far from a masterpiece. Id say Sekiro is the closest souls has ever come to being perfect, despite it not being my personal favorite.
The main game up to Amelia is good and then falls kinda flat all the way up to Gherman, and then flat again with Moon Presence The optional bosses in the main game are the better ones after Amelia. But having to fight the Witches to get to Cainhurst and getting to upper Cathedral Ward are annoying. Nightmare Frontier is a long run too unless you skip. DLC Really comes through to deliver on 3 great boss fights though.
@@jaimeplaza2607 The only bosses in the main game that had high quality fights were Gehrman, Father Gascoigne, and Martyr. Many of the others have good design, soundtracks, and boss arenas. But when it comes to the quality of the fights, they fall flat. They are either way too easy, have a straight up annoying moveset, or both combined. I am a souls vet so I expected to do decent on my first playthrough, but I one tried every main game boss aside from cleric beast and the one reborn. I was using a level one untricked cain on the beast because I didn't know what I was doing yet and died twice because the fights were taking ten minutes, and died to the one reborn because a fireball staggered me and I died to an AOE attack once. Beast fights have always been something fromsoft struggles to make fair and fun. They make them too big to fit on your screen and have wonky hit boxes. This games bosses are primarily beasts. They take these issues they already had with making these fights and add a new found level of aggression to them. I enjoy a couple beast fights for variety, but there were just too many here. Not to mention the blood vile system being garbage, the most valuable gems being in dungeons, lots of the main game areas being mid at best, the interconnectivity being overdone to the point where it doesn't even feel special anymore, etc. Don't get me wrong, this game does a lot well. It does enough well that I would rate it above average still. And the DLC is easily better than the main game. But with the main game being what it is, I don't understand the amount of people calling it perfection or a masterpiece .
theres already a critic on yt on how bloodborne is mediocre and disappointing in many ways one thing souls fans refuse to accept is theres no such thing as perfect game.
Maria's my favourite too. When you're restraining yourself and staying the urge to parry for the sake of a truly sublime duel, a la the Boss and Naked Snake or Yunalesca and the Guardians, you KNOW it's top tier.

Me running cursed chalice dungeons: where tf is my car! I want out!
But seriously, Bloodborne was my first Fromsoft soulsborne game and i loved 95% of my experience in it, the last 5% was the cursed chalice dungeons and i hated it but gotta get that Beast Claw and Queen Yharnam kill for the trophy!
Me 10hrs playing Bloodborne: I am the car!
U can look up the glyph for both to get the trophy without having to play through it all used to not be able to but thank God for zuli the witch lol
Me 200 hours playing Bloodborne: Grant us headlights! GRANT US HEADLIGHTS!!!
I hate Rom the vacuuming spider. Constantly cleaning and tidying the lair
"Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt..."
To me, that is still one of the most haunting lines in the soul series given context.
Bloodborne: a horror game about the inherit, visceral fear of having to spend a night in Whitechapel
I hope that Elden Ring is still Talked about as much in 10 years as much as Bloodborne is after almost 10.
Oh it will my dear sir
Why is every so weird on here? My dear friend/ my dear
There no doubt about it.
@@jordansebert11Tis true indeed. Because a hunter is never alone. My lad.
I think both games are a masterpiece in their own sense
Bruh, i can’t believe you didn’t talk about the insight system, thats the coolest part bro🥲but great video anyway
I've played this game for years and I've never noticed the choir getting louder in hyerapn gol
Hypogean gaol :-)
I save my blue exiler to avoid their gaze and found it works
Replaying this atm. One of the greatest games ever.
Bloodborne weapons are so good that you can legit take your starting weapon through the entire game and it’s actually viable the entire game as I did with the hunter’s Axe.
This is also consistent throughout all of Soulsborne games.
The reason the blood echos are held by a different enemy when you come back is because they actually are left on the ground, so any random mob can pick them up if they happen to pass by. I've seen it happen.
"I don't know why there's so many ladders." Loading screens. They're just allowing the game to load assets.
the level design in this game is shockingly perfect. when doing speed runs, not only are items placed expertly along the path, but a huge number of areas match up the size of an area with the starting stamina that it had to be intentional.
4:52 "theres nothing supernatural about it" you mentioned werewolves 20 seconds ago bro
A+++ for that concise and accurate summary of the lore, seriously one of the best i’ve ever seen!
As a big Lovecraft fan, it's no wonder this is my absolute fav FromSoft game. The slow shift from gothic horror to cosmic horror as you progress through the story is chef kiss worthy
19:11 that would have been so hype
lmao 😅😅 just saw it
I have been binging your soulsborne videos All day.
34:15, “The research Hall!”
*patient falling from the stairs*
My favorite game of all time
You saying that frenzy was Bloodbornes version of bleed almost made me rage. Wouldnt it be MADNESS!!
I think it's the most atmospheric game I've ever played, it's just amazing
I think Bloodborne is the pinnacle of soulslike games by far, the best boss design & combat , best parry mechanic and overall visual aesthetic. I want a PC release or PS5 patch more than any other game having 60 or higher fps with a boost to 4k would make this game one of the very few deserving of a genuine masterpeice award.
5:54 Thanks for the shout out😅😅😅✌🏾
Your Elden ring vid was pretty funny it’s why I watched it all. As you know UA-cam is super saturated but yours stood out
5:53 can confirm, I live north of Newark. There is in fact, occasional inhuman screaming
You can shoot the winter lanterns and stagger them instantly resetting the Frenzy counter.
What a well put video. The absolute shock when I saw you had just 4k subs. Guess numbers mean something but definitely not quality.
Or you know…there are thousands of content creators and not everyone can have 1m subs
This game was my first souls-like game and it is a MASTERPIECE!!
Amazing video
Bloodborne is my favourite game. Elden Ring almost beat it but because of Mountaintops, Bloodborne remains on top cause its absolute perfection from start to finish. Also Bloodborne has the best score/atmospheric music in any video game ever.
Yeah… no lol
@@DionPanday You either have not played Bloodborne or are unable to feel it. Cause only if you feel this game, you know what I or basically everyone with the same opinion is talking about.
@@EldenLord. I platinumed the game the month it came out, and played it for over 600 hours. If you truly think Bloodborne has the best score or atmosphere you desperately need to play more games because there’s games out there that does what Bloodborne does but better.
@@DionPanday I played a ton of games and I dont agree. Atmosphere wise only other From games come close. Games by other developers cant even compete.
@@EldenLord. then you need to play more games
Aahhhhh the music durring Ludwig fight gives me chills :D so EPIC! BTW: love how you've explained the story!
BRO! I actually borrowed it from a friend who hated it HE couldn’t get past the Werewolf in the beginning LOL…. I got it played it for 20 mins and fell into the same frustration and wrote it off! THEN I PLAYED SEKIRO, and Loved it! Afterwords I went back to BLOODBORNE AND GOT TO FATHER GASGOINE! And very quickly realized the game was FUCKIN AMAZING! And just When I thought the greatness was over another buddy said ohh BTW GET THE DLCS!? I’m like WHAT,THEN my mind was COMPLETELY BLOWN After beating ORPHAN OF KOS! It was solidified that BLOODBORNE WAS MY FAVORITE OUT OF ALL THE SOULS GAMES! MINUS DEMON SOULS I didn’t vibe with that game out of all the fromsoft games! Shout out to armored core 6! Also a great game!
i actually enjoyed Mergo's Wet Nurse
Fantastic video! Like you said, the atmosphere and the weapons are truly unmatched. I've been playing for 9 years this game, and I'm still doing new builds to try out all the weapons. Aside from the Saw weapons, what are your favorite 3?
Hmm. Boomhammer, Saif, and threaded cane!
Im convinced bb2 is not a thing, but Geesus i love this game. The platinum was realizing all i had left were hunter tools and da queen
Bruh when the Four Kings spawned I did a spit take!
I installed this game back in dec 2023, played it for about 30-45 minutes, died about 10 times, and threw it away... a couple of months later (march 2024), I gave it another chance... have been fucking ADDICTED ever since... and this is coming from someone who played PES/MK for the majority of his "gaming" life
Perfect timing - I just finished my first playthrough - no joke, maybe minutes before this came out.
Same for me. I just got the platinum for this game a few days ago. A masterpiece indeed.
Yea
I see bloodborne video, I click bloodborne video.
14:38 wait a minute… ain’t that also Joey “Two-Hands”?!
Lol, love the Dunkey reference.

This video perfectly explains my love for Bloodborne! Amazing video my guy 💪
Bloodborne and Elden Ring are both amazing. The thing is, Without the BB dlc, BB does not stack up. So if the Elden Ring dlc is as focused and perfect as the Bloodborne dlc, I think it will be obvious which game is better.
Good job, man! Enjoyed watching your video, thanks!
There are many other flaws like:
-Chalice Dungeons in general are very bad with so many boss repeats in a short linear-game, if it was open-world you can excuse that.
(Except for online stuff, net code still being horrible in elden ring is genuinely bonkers)
- "weak boss roster and recycled enemies" in elden ring I literally got sick and disappointed when I would see a new area but the enemy would just be another crucible knight, tree sentinel, and those living tree worm things.
TLDR: for this point^ The chalice dungeons are highly effective for their INTENDED purpose and extremely useful for
controlling overall build quality consistently.
The algorithm just dropped this video, I watched it and now I am beggining a new playthrough.... thanks
41:48 that’s not Maria, that’s Kos’ curse
I love the Winter Lanterns, they really elevate the game from action to horror any time you hear their singing. It also feels good to beat them up once you get a hang of them.
Btw this video has great editing, I cracked up every time I heard Micolash. He's such a goof.
FINALLY, GOD IS GOOD!
DONT YOU DARE GO HOLLOW!
I hate this game.
Whenever I play another souls game: I forget there’s no rally system, and extend and die instantly 😪
Lies of P has the Rally Mechanic
Just wanted to say that I really like your channel. You will see an exponential increase in subscriber count if you stay the course. It's well-written and well-delivered. Appreciate the hard work.
No, the fact that theres an easy spot to farm blood vials does not make it better or good. Its a system from the stoneage, period
about micolash, you don’t need to follow him for 15 minutes there are I think 3 patterns of running which can be countered in under 1 minute and he will go into the fight room
Agree with everything you said. Its unfortunate BB fans never mention how bad the boss line up is. Sekiro blows BB out of the water.
The main game up to Amelia is good and then falls kinda flat all the way up to Gherman, and then flat again with Moon Presence
The optional bosses in the main game are the better ones after Amelia.
@@tahireed Fromsoftware fans when they find out that bossfights alone did not determine the entire quality of a videogame : 😱
bossfights and areas? is that it? is that how fromsoftware games are meant to be reviewed?
