    Les literally left a camera rolling on the other side of a glacier so he could get a super wide long shot of him walking it. That means he has to walk back to grab it (hoping it's still recording) and then walk back the way he just traversed twice already. INSANE! Thank you Les!

    You can't underestimate the significance of this original series. It inspired people to get outside and learn wilderness skills. It also inspired people to be prepared for anything. No one's come close to making films this interesting and authentic. It's not a reality show, it's a real show. So much better than what's on TV these days.

    Should you have any kind of pen or ink with you, mark a spot on the paper (black will work best, obiously); any print will do, too. It will have a way easier time absorbing the light than the white paper.

    After rewatching the first season. I can honestly say, Les really was pushing himself to survive. That's because some of these scenarios/conditions he puts himself in are very harsh. • @emancify

    There is no way that he could go that many days without any real food. Especially when he's carrying 60 lbs. of equipment. Berries and such are packed full of fructose and fiber (minor carbs), but I only saw him drink water once in the whole 48 minutes. He's really good, but this run into the Rockies bordered on insanity (even for Les Stroud). There's a younger version of Les (who is also Canadian) who likes to "be outside" in the worst of winter conditions. His name is Xander Budnick and he makes really short videos about his winter adventures outside. I can't think of where he got "the survival bug" except from Les Stroud. He's not as experienced as Les, but his Camera Equip. is more generational and is of better quality... but they both carry 60 lbs. without any problems. I was saving this video for a day like today.

    My favorite season 1 episode, I appreciate it being uploaded here to see again. Those shots by that beautiful mountain river with the rocky shores later in the episode are always images that stuck with me since I first watched it years ago. Captivating landscape.

    A lot of these shots look like they inspired the landscape for death stranding. Watching you walk around with that heavy pack full of gear over that barren landscape has its own form of beauty. Just amazing!

    I Love Les Stroud. He's the real deal, original bad ass and he can do it all, and keep me watching these episodes over and over. Thanks to drawing the genetic short straw, most of the time I don't feel well, the rest of the time, I'm in real pain, daily. On my bad days, I can't pay attention to a movie or a new episode, so I have these 5 or 6 people, artists that just soothe me. I can let Season 1 just run all the way through, doze, listen to a voice tat's come to feel like a friend. People like me tend to self isolate. As long as I have my dog, and my still barely functioning old laptop or cell phone, I can try to put my mind on the trail with Les, and not in a body that malfunctions and produces kidney stones and grit non-stop. That's just one of my illnesses.
    I love zombie movies, and apocalypse/survival movies, and I always find myself thinking, Ok, zones of assessment, water, shelter, defense. . . why is it in every zombie movie people dress in shorts and tank tops? Maybe Les could do a series of horror movie situations and team up with like Eli Roth or Stephen King for episodes. Yeah, this is how m brain drifts.

    I saw a story that someone tried to expose you on the Utah episode i believe. Saying how your camp spots are right next to the rode and all.. but this episode is def legit i mean you were dropped right on the peak of a 12000 ft mountain. I truly appreciate your dedication to your footage and survival skills.. remarkable!

    • @anam5099
      @anam5099 2 роки тому +5

      He's legit in his survival. Whoever was bored enough to try to "expose" one of the very few decent people in the world who want to share valuable knowledge to a stupid, superficial world, clearly needs help. My brother in law worked for Les for 4 years. 100% legit. His crew stays within a far enough distance that he's completely alone but close enough that if there's a flare, they come. He would only use that if he broke a limb or contracted a severe illness that won't just pass in a few hours. Otherwise, he's surviving. He won't allow himself to die for the show, but he sure lets himself get close at times with the risks he takes.
