      @@CarloandSarah I agree with @kevingirard7844 that an Italian language class -- one that addresses speaking, listening, writing, reading -- would really help as well! Most language teachers would say that Duolingo helps a little but doesn't really get you very far.

      That's what we actually did with my Italian boyfriend. Labelling everything in the house with German / Italian words. Works great. He learned German and I learned Italian. And we had 2 days per week in which he spoke German to me and I answered in Italian (our "common language" was English).
      We split up 8 years ago and back then I spoke Italian quite ok (or the dialetto of his family). Now when I'm in Italy, I might sound similar to Sarah the first days... But honestly I still speak better than her, not having used or listened to the language for such a long time 🙈😅 Italian is such a beautiful language and not THAT complicated! Please Sarah, make the effort and learn it. For yourself and for him. There are even free Apps for that and you only need to dedicate 10 min per day ❤🎉

      Hell --> Inferno --> Inferno
      Keeper --> Guardian --> Guardiano
      Holy --> Hallowed --> Sacred --> Sacro

    Sara, Carlo, you probably won't read this, but if you do....
    I taught language for 18 years and found the best way to learn is by telling stories and asking questions. You can tell each other your story and pretend to be other people answering questions.
    For example:
    Carlo is romantic
    Sara is romantic
    Who is romantic?
    Carlo /Sara
    Then one of you can say "Carlo Is..." Or "Sara is ...." (Not typing the word romantic here to shorten this) You get to work on the verb "to be" without needing to use "to be", just use it in the way you would in a sentence
    Then, work into "They are..." Or "Carlo AND Sara are..."
    Eventually, you can start asking each other "Are you...." And say "I am..."
    Then use a different word, like, "ugly" to practice the negative.
    Carlo is not / isn't
    Sara is not / isn't
    They aren't...
    I found that when I started teaching, teachers always ended up with students saying
    "I to be" or "Carlo to be..." But couldn't remember the correct form. If you tell a story, it's practiced by reading and listening (write your story out, use very simple language to start)
    It could be a fun, lovely way to learn. Wish you guys the best!

    English + o or a = italian or spanish 😅
    Quebec's French, most people do the same.
    My father already ordered in USA "coke" no glass. (Un verre de coke, sans verre) (Glass in english is the cup, in french it sound like "ice cubes")
    Basically asking the waitress to pour it into his mouth.
    Friendly place, she understood.
    He also asked for "2 eggs, don't pet the yellow"
    (Petter (Pae-tay) in Québec means to break, in english, like caressing a dog or a cat.) Was asking for 2 sunny side up and got em, some ways. XD)

    Yes, learn to speak Italian! Keep listening and trying - what about Italian immersion at home? I know it can make your brain hurt, but is worth it to know another language, especially when it is Carlo's first language. Keep loving each other!

    Next time go to the other Senza Gluten BY JEMIKO. It's a much higher end (and traditional) Senza Gluten that the original chef created after he separated from the previous investors. The investors kept the old restaurant (the one you went to), and the chef runs the new restaurant on 10th avenue. They have Italians working at the By Jemiko location, and the food is much higher quality! It's a completely different place. 🙂

    I got Adam Sandler Opera Man vibes… How do you say in Italian… Sarah has a Nice Caboose? ✌️🤣 Speaking of SNL skits… Get Carlo to say “Cork Soakers”…
    There was a SNL Skit from the 90’s with Janet Jackson about an Italian Winery… A family of Cork Soakers✌️🤣🍷

    I’m a widow and my late hubby was from Roccamandolfi Italy. Best man I’ve had in my life.
