Are magic arm and variable friction arm referring to the same things? Because I see Manfrotto selling 244 as variable friction arm and the 143 as magic friction arm while they seem to be almost identical except for the knobs.
143 has the long handle and I believe it's the older version. I like the Round knob (244) over the long handle on the (143) the knob allows you to be way more flexible.

I dont understand , how i can put a Ballhead Tripod on the 244 friction arm?
You have to add a camera bracket. amzn.to/3vHb5iA this is an Amazon Associate link FYI and it will take you to the camera bracket I use these brackets and they replace a ball head for your camera but you can add a ball to them if for some reason you wanted to.
