2:33 traditionally they are used for clamping clothes! ;) Thanks Caleb for the insight as to how you use clamps!

Thanks Caleb! I use the articulating magic arm and clamp combo to capture audio at events and weddings. If I can't get a clean feed from a venue or sound mixer, I'll attach the clamp to one of the speaker stands with a Zoom H6 or H1 on the other end pointed toward the speaker.

Hey Caleb, a really good video as always! Even talking about clamps, which are not as cool looking as lenses or lighting equipment, you make it super interesting and very entertaining! I've learned a lot watching your videos, thanks for the great effort you put into this! Keep it up 💪👌

I've got some superbly strong clamps that I found in DIY shops, at like 1/4 of the cost of 'photography' ones. Good video m8... as always!..

Take a C-47 apart, reassemble it backwards where the end sides become the pincher sides, and you have a C-74. Stronger clamping power than a regular C-47 and can get into tighter spots.

2:27 Those are CLOTHES line clamps (or, more commonly, clothes pins), originally used for hanging clothes from an outdoor clothes line to dry them. (The list of items mentioned refers to them as "close line clamps.")

Your content is really changing a lot. From camera reviews to this. Soon lighting stands. You should review new gear or even ways to film like setups. It could help others like three point lighting and camera setup then also light meters and how to use them unless you have done it and I have missed it. Well best of luck to you.

Might note that the cheap Home Depot clamps have 1/4" holes that aren't threaded. They are super useful. I have 8. Just, 1/4-20 seems to say a threaded hole.

Love this laundry list of clamps. :)
I have one of those cheap clamp + arm combos you linked, and I'm wondering, how do you keep it tight? On the arm that came with mine, one of the 1/4-20 mounts has a rubber pad, but the other side is just slick metal. Any time I try to put some weight on the arm, the weight just unscrews the 1/4-20 without the rubber pad. So I can't use it to hold a monitor in place. Did I just buy the wrong cheap knockoff arm? :)

Do the rubber tips on the mini spring clamps melt under the heat from the lights or do you primarily use them the LED lights?

    • @dslrvideoshooter

I use them with LEDs. I think they'd be alright. If not, they are removable.

Hi, for your lighting setup on this video (of you in front of the gray)... was it the same as one of your other 3 light $500 setups or do you have another video for it? I hope it would also talk about the thought process you had when setting up the lighting. Thanks

    • @dslrvideoshooter
