- I was completely blown away. I love these singers and their amazing vocal diversity . I absolutely ove going down this nightwish, floor jansen, EPICA, Epic Operatic Metal rabbit hole with you guys. . There is no turning back, you guys made me a fan!!
How to get a group of Metal fans to settle down, have Floor and Simone sing a 13 century religious hymn. 😂just beautiful.
Both of these ladies are great at crowd control on their own because they are both great at crowd participation. Put them together for a Classical price and yes, most quiet and well-behaved Metal audience to be found (especially when in-doors). :)
Floor and Simone are very close friends and have been for a very long time. At this Epica anniversary concert, Simone really wanted to sing 2 songs with her friend. (the second song is 'Sancta Terra' and you should definitely listen to it too).
In fact, both are classically very well trained and are real mega stars in the metal scene!
It was a real pleasure to see your reaction to these great singers and I really hope for more.
I concur.
I also concur. Sancta Terra still has the beautiful classical vocals, but of course more leaning into rock/metal. You also get the blending of Epica’s metal instrumentals with the orchestra, as well as the choir.
My opinion is also concurring 😉
I heartly concur as well ❣️🤘🇳🇱🤘
This or Sancta Terra was supposed to be with Tarja so each would have done 1 song.
Epica have just celebrated their 20th anniversary. This was the band's 10th Anniversary Concert with a full orchestra & choir. Floor sang 2 songs during the 3 hour event with her old friend Simone Simons who was 3 months pregnant at the time. The whole Retrospect concert can be found on UA-cam.
Sancta Terra from this same concert is definitely worth checking. It's the other song Simone sung with Floor here. That one is symphonic metal piece with empasis on symphonic instead of classical.
Don' t forget , that was in the middle of a Heavy Metal Concert , the Grandfather of Heavy Metal Music is Classical Music
Hi, check out EPICA 10 years later, this is from a concert earlier this year in Amsterdam, absolutely stunning performance 🙃
EPICA - Unleashed (Live At The AFAS Live)
Great reaction! 🤘
You can check out Floor singing O Mio babbino caro.
Great reaction. I had not listened to this song before. Please consider reacting to Epica - Sancta Terra, also with Simone Simons and Floor. Thanks!
I will check it out
we got you... coming soon!!
Both the music and the reaction is beautiful in every way. You are doing great. We can litterally see your horizons expand.
Thank you so much!!
@@themcsyoutubechannel Hi Julia , have you seen these yet from Floor ? if not I think you would love it as much as we do ,

Floor thanking the conductor at the end was a nice respectful touch.
I love the way they weave their vocals around each other, complimenting each other beautifully.
Check out Epica, 'Rivers' with Apocalyptica. Live st AFAS. Simone's voice on that pierces your soul.
When you do Rivers by Epica make it a double reaction and do the performance from AFAS and Omegalive. Same song 2 very different versions both awesome in their own way.
I love how, in the middle of a symphonic metal concert, you can break out a 13th century hymn about Mary's pain of seeing Jesus on the cross- and everyone loves it! Floor is my absolute favorite singer and I love when someone's telling me about their fav group/singer and how great they are... cause I can then go, "oh yeah... well check this out..." :)
Metal is on another level to pop and rap. Very few of those "superstars" would be capable of this.
Love seeing these 2 great singers together. The music is scored as a duet for soprano and alto, so additionally, despite both Simone and Floor being sopranos, Floor takes on the alto role, exemplifying her range as a singer.
Simone Simons with her crystal clear bright voice! Even in the higher register! Incredible!
As a longtime Floor/Nightwish fan, your reactions have made me a fan of yours.........keep them coming!
Both Epica and Floor's current band Nightwish play a style of metal music called Symphonic Metal, because they compose songs for a full orchestra and choir; the songs are recorded in studio with a live orchestra and choir. I do not know for Epica, but for Nigthwish records in London with the London Philharmonic orchestra, the same one that records movie scores and during the show they playback the orchestral tracks from a computer running Pro Tools, because it would be too costly to travel with a full orchestra.
Try the best thing Metal ever made from the same concert. "Sancta Terra."
Sancta Terra the best? Is that only because Floor is there?
I think you need to see hear much more Epica. 🙂
Try for example the beginning of this concert. "Introspect" followed by "Monopoly on Truth". And that's just one of many many examples. 😉
Here's a link for that performance: ua-cam.com/video/N8lHfREI2Ws/v-deo.html
Or this from 2023: ua-cam.com/video/OV7KcV0VZmw/v-deo.html
Metal and classical music, if performed well, go together very well.
the musicians are generally very well trained. As a classical guitarist,
I usually listen to renaissance and baroque music but I also enjoy listening to Nightwish with Floor Jansen and Epica. with Simone.
FYI: Retrospect is the 3rd live album by Dutch symphonic metal band Epica in celebration of their tenth anniversary. The recorded live show took part in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Because of the great demand by international fans, Epica announced a live stream, called the Retrostream, on March 4, 2013. Epica performed on stage with the same orchestra that accompanied Epica in the recording of the live album The Classical Conspiracy: the 70-piece Extended Hungarian Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre.
I think this warrants you react to 20 Epica songs!
Great reaction by a beautiful woman!
Thank you!! 😊
Nice Reaction! I read in other comments before that where Floor and Simone met was at the Vocal School they attended. Floor also studied at a Rock Academy for 4 years. Another song where Floor sings in her Classical voice is a song called Stargazers with Nightwish, Live in Tampere. Nightwish's first singer was Classically trained and sang most of their early songs that way and Stargazers is one of them. She also did a Dutch TV show where she sang the Phantom of the Opera with a man that played the Phantom in the Netherlands. The show is called Beste Zangers.
I was a bit perplexed at Simone Simons not getting a mention in the start, but I suppose you cleared it up in the middle there. It's as good an introduction to her voice as any other. I hope you dive deep into the Epica rabbit hole.
But I'd like to suggest something I'm sure others will not, because this "Retrospect" (10 year anniversary) concert was not the first one-off they've done with symphony orchestra and choir. In fact, in 2009 they did a concert in Hungary with the same orchestra and choir, and this was released as a live album called "The Classical Conspiracy". Unfortunately, it was not professionally filmed. But here is a fan-made video that matches up the professional audio recording from that concert with some mobile phone footage from the audience, when Simone sings the famous aria "Ombra Mai Fu" by Händel from his opera Serse: ua-cam.com/video/OidxfaRSJLg/v-deo.html
This was such a great concert. It was a 3 hour show which had just about everything. If you want to hear more here are some links…

Highly support this, Epica deserves reactions!
Oddly enough I was just watching Julia Lezhneva sing this before coming across this reaction! Julia for me is one of the best Baroque singers I have seen ( huge fan of her). A pleasant reaction to a wonderful piece!
This is my first time seeing your channel. Excellent.
As others have said, this was a special concert for Epica with the full orchestra and choir. Please watch the song Unleashed from this same show. You can really see the power of the band's music and the beauty of Simone's voice.
The band is actually very heavy at times and most of their songs also have Mark Jansen (no relation) doing growling. Their music is very complex and they use the dichotomy of the growling voice vs. Simone's beautiful soprano to convey light and dark. Try The Skeleton Key from their Omega Alive virtual show.
More recently, Epica released a video of a song called Sirens - of Blood and Water featuring two other amazing singers, Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur. They are a lovely trio and the song is based on the Siren myths of the past.
You really need to listen to design your universe live retrospect next. Epica is amazing
Hi Jules, greetings from UK
That was a lovely reaction, thank you 😊
Imagine a symphonic metal band, with support from a full orchestra and Choir.
Classic meets metal. I highly recommend checking out some other songs from this concert.
Heavy metal supported with classical instruments and choir is really something else.
The other song from this concert where Floor and Simone sing together: Epica - Sancta Terra from the Restrospect concert.
(and watch how the Orchestra and Choir have a blast playing with Epica)
Not a fan of Opra but this is great two metal queens very pretty love it
Epica are more aggressive than Nightwish but also produce great sensitive songs. For a stellar performance from Simone try Rise from Apocalyptica/Epica
Thx Julia! 🥰
As for Epica, it's also an interesting band. I recommend. For a "slow entry" - Sancta Terra (with Floor, the same live concert - btw. Simone was pregnant at the time), Consign To Oblivion (live at the Zenith). I'm not enough of a fan to know their other songs...
What I mainly mean is that I recommend you to listen to other styles of musical artistry of singing performed by Floor Jansen (Beste Zangers TV show, showing yourself to these other singers for the first time 😆😆 by singing Vilja Lied, The Merry Widow of Franz Lehár, you should know), covers recorded during the pandemic (Let it go, Euphoria, Agape, Oblivion - film), Alone, older works from ReVamp.
I highly recommend it
(big Floor J fan)
I concur
I concur 💯% as well. Classical music and Symphonic Metal is a beautiful combination ❣️🤘🇳🇱🤘
I would not suggest "Consign to Oblivion" to non-metalheads.
Btw, not a fan enough? You should seriously consider changing that. 😄

And about 20-30 other amazing songs. Just let me know if you want more. 🙃
As you listen to Nightwish, you will expand into all the interwoven connections with other bands. As many of the Nightwish Army often say, Welcome to the rabbit hole. You can get lost in all the different directions from here. You are doing great Jules with your new discoveries. I'm really happy to have found your channel a few months back. Keep up the great work.
blah blah blah NW
Loved this
floor was invited to this 10 year anniversary of Epica, many nightwish fans will say do sancta terra because floor sings in there, but no, the got much bether songs then thet, this band is much heavier than nightwish so be warned! if you also want to hear the choir that you have not heard in this song, this is a nice suggestion Epica - Design Your Universe (Retrospect) I also see some reactions from epica consign to oblivion, but do not do this because this is one of their heaviest songs.
Nice reaction Jules, also I’ve binge watched some of your other videos - very interesting!
If you’re on a voyage of discovery for new to you artists from different genres then I’m really interested, I have been on a voyage of discovery for the past 2 years so can recommend lots of ideas! I actually listen to anything from Classical opera to Death metal, genre isn’t my interest, songs that I like is.
One song that stands out for me at the moment is from a band called The Warning who are 3 sisters from Mexico (they sing in English) who brought the house down at the MTV awards a few days back. The song is Evolve - their performance in front of an audience who mostly had never heard them before was stunning! Plus the response from that audience was rapturous! 🌹
You've just heard the Valkyrie Goddess (Floor) and the Valkyrie Queen (Simone). Please check out Sancta Terra from this same concert - you will be glad you did.
I agree. Im a piano teacher. I just give them a great foundation in music through the piano classical style then they can build from there.
Floor Jansen is the best...period!
I love this duet too.
Hi. Do you know some other Epica songs? Maybe at least the ones with piano? 🙂
@Kyle_Butler I don't know too many Epica songs but I love Rivers. They have a live version and accapella version (I prefer accapella) I love choirs.
@@FromG2eminor OK, you should definitely discover this band. They are phenomenal!

Hiya! EPICA is fantastic (for real!). You may find 'Unleashed' and 'Chasing the dragon' (both from this show) a good way to 'ease into' their musical library. And to compare from a recent show at AFAS Life 'Beyond the matrix' and 'Rivers'. But if you really enjoy heavy... well than anything goes 🤘
From this same concert Sancta Terra is well worth your watching
I know for certain floor Jansen has done her musical education at one of the Dutch consovitria
Try this during a rap concert😂
Floor AND Simone are Dutch, best friends and they went to uni for classical and theatre singing together. 2 members of Epica were Floor's bandmembers in After Forever, her first band she joined when she was 16. Floor has a wider vocal range than Simone, sings even higher, but Simone can't sing the lower part. Sinome has a beautiful delicate voice They did great!
This was during an Epica concert (also Dutch) and most metalheads love classical music. Epica (Simone) and Foor( Nightwish) work with Symphonic orchestra's. This orechtra is from Bukarest if I am right and they were there for the aniversery of Epica. Normally they use a backing track. Nightwish, Tuomas, writes the music for the London Symphonic orchestra and also uses it as back track, because it is impossible to tour with a whole orchestra :)
Only Mark Jansen was in After Forever. If you are thinking of Joost van den Broek he has produced several Epica albums but has never been a member of the band. The orchestra is the 70-piece Extended Hungarian Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre. They had previously worked with them on their live album The Classical Conspiracy which was recorded at the Miskolc Opera Festival. This song was part of that performance and album which is why it is played in this 10th anniversary concert along with one other classical piece (Vivaldi's Presto from The Four Seasons) and an excerpt from a movie soundtrack (Battle of the Heroes and Imperial March from the Star Wars movies).
Nope
floor first time love it
Yes, metal, Symphonic concert
My Queen Floor for World presidency!
You have to react to more Epica! They have so many amazing songs with good quality. If you want a good one from this same concert with the orchestra, then "Unleashed" is a good pick. High energy and sums up their sound as well as a singular song can with this versatile band.
What talent is this that can hold a concert hall of metal heads dead silent while they perform?
Floor is singer by Nightwish and Simone is singer by Epica they came both from the Netherlands 😊
Floor comes from flower. At the end : 'Thank you little Floor' 😂
Floor and Simone were roommates in the music college (conservatory) they attended. Not much of a stretch that they might have worked on projects together. Who knows, could have been a class assignment they brought forward to their professional careers.
What I think about the singers?......well........one Queen a GODDESS on stage........nuff said......don`t complain...you asked for it....🤣🤣🤣
don't complain???? ?? pathetic Floor simp!
"Stabat Mater Dolorosa" = "Stood the Mother, full of grief.........." the hymn of the Virgin Mary's sadness at Jesus's crucifixion......Pergolesi knew he was dying when he composed this piece at age 26.....very well known in the classical repetoire, originally for 1 soprano, 1 alto and a 4 piece chamber accompaniment.........props to the orchestra and choir......
I would love those two to sing "The Flower Duet" from Lakmé. That would be awesome!
The right pronounciation is Floor Yansun and Seemonu Seemons
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done girl
Simone, pronounced Ci-mon-a Simons, Epica and Floor are best friends, both are Dutch
Did you do epica sancta terra ft floor. If not its a must.😂😂😂
If you love Nightwish and floor I’m sure you’ll love Epica too. Of course a completely different sound to Nightwish but beautiful all the same.
Your pronunciation of 'Floor' is correct, but her last name is pronounced slightly differently. The correct pronunciation is: Yahn-Sen" starting with a "Y", like: Year, not as a "dj" like: John.
Simone Simons is indeed also classically trained and (as might be expected) they have been good friends for years (not just musically).
Proud too be dutch. Please react to emma kok. Voila.
METALLICA - FADE TO BLACK.. REACTION
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal introducing the Goddesses Simone Simmons and Floor Jansen. Now you need to listen to Anneke van Giersbergen and Marcela Bovio.
👍🤘🤘
Aryeon Valley of the queens
Please react to the song Prayer by Disturbed
Floor Yonson is the pronunciation.
I guess that's how Floor stops by to say hello, leaving dead bodies behind while leaving😂😂 oh my goooood what a woman, it's unreal, her presence alone is BOOM. And of course, huge applause to her long time friend Simone and all the musicians for this
you sound like an inusufferable Floor simp and reducing Simone to just a long time friend is utterly despicable!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Epica " santa Terra" feat floor jansen
Jansen is pronounced yon-sen
Edit: just got to the part where you realized the correct pronunciation. I'll leave the comment anyway. =)
Like your style, by the way
There is no 'o' in Jansen or in its pronunciation. I'm Dutch, so I know. Next time, try using "YAHN-sen" instead.
@@Klojum Okay. To me ear, (ah) and (o) amount to the same thing in your phonetic spelling and in mine -- the same sound that is in the words yawn or yonder. I just didn't want to use "yawn" in the phonetic spelling, because Floor Jansen is anything but boring. ;-) Thank you =)
Next, as already mentioned, Sancta Terra, same concert, same singers. Enjoy!
For more of Floor and Simone then you should check out ‘Sancta terra’ live from the same concert. Then for more Simone prominent Epica it has to be ‘Rivers’ ft Apocalyptica live. Then to ramp up the metal aspect of Epica I would suggest ‘Unleashed’ Live from the same retrospect concert and then the full Epica experience ‘Consign to oblivion’ live from Paris. Love Floor but IMHO Simone is every bit her equal.
🐕
So, the music is strangely 20 times softer than your voice. Editing is hard;)...
this is EPICA, Floor is JUST A FEATURE! Stop making this all about Floor!!!!!
