This Live version always astounds me... To hear this aria in the middle of a Metal Concert, and to see this screaming Metal crowd in a complete silence... It is really funny, that Metal lovers can appreciate classical music more, than vice versa . I am not kidding, I have seen grown Metalheads cry (present company included) over this song and presence of those two goddesses!!! This IS EPIC !!!! NWSU/Epican/FloorFan 🤘😍🤘.
I was in tears listening to this the first time, the audience were sooo respectful of their performance! I would love to hear them sing The Flowers duet, I think it would suit them very well! Floor did a really good job of singing the lower range of her Mezzo voice and keeping it light, and Simone wow what a performance from someone who is 3 months pregnant!!! I’m glad you got around to this, it’s kinda a big favourite of mine!
Hi Rachael, I think you will like this beautiful ballad from EPICA, this is from a concert earlier this year in Amsterdam, the three Cello players from Apocalyptica joined them on stage for this one, it's beautiful and Simone sounds incredible 🙃 EPICA feat. APOCALYPTICA - Rivers (Live At The AFAS LIVE)
I occur to, but the nicest thing about that song is, it’s available in four versions. Together with Apocoliptica, acapella, and live in Chili and as studio recording. They are all beautiful
She always does. The end of Ghost Love Score at Wacken, she points to Jukka, she does Energise Me with the Red Limo String Quartet and she stands to the side so the audience can see everyone. These moves are what make her one of the classiest entertainers to take the stage.
What is also amazing is the fact that this is a metal concert and the song is classical in nature. The fact that this is acceptable in a metal concert gives you an idea how highly intellectual the audience and metal music is and how close metal is to classical music in general. Most metal heads really appreciate really good music, music with feelings, emotions and not just a simple pop song.
You have to check AYREON !!!! Also Floor, Simone and al lot of others ! A nice opener ? Everybody Dies !! you will not be ..........you will love it ! And LIVE !
Hi Rachel I absolutely adore both Floor and Simone. The sacred music, is composed by Giovanini Battista Pergolesi, it's one of the most popular pieces of compositions. Stabat Mata dolorosa ( The Sorrowful Mother was Standing). Pergolesi composed it during his final illness, of Tuberculosis. It's the first movement of 12 movement composition. It is said that he died the next day after completion 1736. Which includes a Salve Regina Setting. He was 26. As you said you can feel the Sorrow and pain in his work, that I can imagine. he must of felt it gives you some idea of what Mary must have felt as she stood watching Jesus being crucified. Great reaction.
The look on Simone's face when they hug right before the song ends is one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I think this was a big deal for them too.
Pretty sure you haven't reacted to Floor's earlier band Revamp? To see a completely other side, watch Disdain at Grasspop. If you have you'll already know why. 🤘😎🤘
In the middle of a metal concert. How to quiet thousands of metalheads, and still have them love it. Yes, a hymn, from the 13th century, the music is by Pergolisi in the 18th century. You have heard them singing together when you did EPICA Sancta Terra from this same 2013 concert. Those were the only 2 songs at that show that Floor joined them for.
I call those two "The Sisters of Mercy" ( not to disrespect the goth band of the 80's) because if you want mercy, these two Angels will give it and more just by those angelic voices.🎼🌹🌹
You saw Sancta Terra with Floor and Simone, because i remember you melted when Floor leaned her head into Simones, and it had you dreaming of them being besties/best friends. And i told you that you were exactly right,it was Floors "shes my bestie" gesture towards Simone. They have gotten petnamed Wonderwoman (Floor) and Poison Ivy (Simone) because of theyr beauty and close connection. (Not that Wonderwoman and Poison Ivy would see eye to eye in the comics lol,its more a description of theyr beauty)
Hi Rayactions! Can't believe you've only done 2 Epica songs so far. "Stabat Matter" is beautiful, but obviously not their song. Can you do much more Epica please? Maybe something more energetic next? 🙂 EPICA - A Phantasmic Parade (Official European Principle Tour Aftermovie)
Your next step might be Delain (with Charlotte Wessels) and Marko Hietala (from Nightwish). Charlotte also does a recent song with Epica. Of course, the ultimate performances will be rock operas with Floor and Simone.. look for Ayreon.
If anyone said to me that metal singers can't sing, all they do is yell, grunt, scream etc I would have to educate them by showing this video. I would then ask them to name some pop and rap singers who could do this. Watching them struggle to answer would be such fun.
Well, it is all said about this lovely and professional Performance of two great Singers and friends, paired with an really remarkable Orchestra. Just an side Note in this Vid you can really see how trained physically Floor is, just watch her trapez Muscles, some WWF Dudes would kill for them. Sure outstanding Talent but also so much Practice and Training, to perform on this Level. Great you loved it, already knowing the Song and the Meaning! Stay healthy NWA Bavaria North
tragically beautiful is so damn close to the truth. This is about a mother who sees her child hanging on a cross. How tragical do you want it to be? These 2 girls, ladies, mothers make a beautiful song of this 13th century poem, which is a lament of all mothers of all times. Nothing is ever going to change, we all know that. But these kinds of beautiful make all else a little more bearable.
On the earlier Epica albums, Simone sings almost exclusively in opera style. Some good videos to check out are "Cry For the Moon" and "Consign to Oblivion." Floor does some very beautiful classical singing on the Revamp song "Precibus." Unfortunately, there's no good video for that one.
"Stabat Mater Dolorosa" = "Stood the Mother, full of grief.........." sung completely in Latin, the hymn of the Virgin Mary's sadness at Jesus's crucifixion......Pergolesi knew he was dying when he composed this piece at age 26.....very well known in the classical repetoire, originally for 1 soprano, 1 alto and a 4 piece chamber accompaniment.........props to the orchestra and choir.....
The complete weird oddity of two Nordic metal singers doing a hymn in the middle of a metal concert is fascinating. I can’t remember the last time I heard Beyoncé and lady Gaga do a duet like this. Hehe

this song.. in the middle of a METAL concert.. and everyone was silent!
The Metalheads are the Best Fans on this Planet
Metal is, at its core, about respect towards hard work and inherent aptitude
And that is strange ?
Metal or rock
Time past
And ...,??
Y que es lo raro ?
El metal tiene mas cuerpo que muchos estilos
You have, no doubt, seen Floor and Simone perform "Sancta Terra" at this same concert. If not, you will probably want to. It's exciting!
Actually, Rachael already has. If you hadn't seen that particular reaction yet, I highly recommend you check it out.
I was in tears listening to this the first time, the audience were sooo respectful of their performance!

You can just tell Simone loves having Floor with her onstage. 😍😍
😊❤️🤘🤘

Love that performance 😁
I concur. Love this performance of Rivers at AFAS

they singed sancta terra on the same concert. maybe you saw that. they are really amazing both of them
The Goddess of the Valkyries and the Queen of Epica together on the stage - THIS ist epic pure !
European metal fans just seem to accept and embrace the Opera and classical genre of music within the metal concert
Have you noticed that Floor lets Simone the centre of the Spotlight. She stands on the side of it highlighting the Concert is from Epica.
And then Simone said FLoortje which means somegthing like "little Floor" :)
Floor is just so awesome and humble personality
That stood out to me the 1st time I watched this. I think it shows how professional and respectful she is when she thanks him.
Love that she curtsies, and he bows in response.

The roots of metal bathe in classical music
You're all right 🤘👍
If Wagner was alive today he'd be writing symphonic metal.
You need to listen to "sirens of blood and water" by epica next
I love this one so much too. I wish they could do the "Flower Duet".
Me too, I’m sure that they would make an awesome job of it!
Three of the most beautiful and emotive women in music!
Not enough people have reacted to Apocalyptica with Epica - Rise, for a recent stellar vocal from Simone
I second that! A stellar performance 🤘🏻
You have to check AYREON !!!! Also Floor, Simone and al lot of others ! A nice opener ? Everybody Dies !! you will not be ..........you will love it ! And LIVE !
The day that the world breaks down by Ayreon is the best intro I think
"Daniel's Descent into Transitus" by Ayreon features Simone as the Angel of Death and is very entertaining.

They also sang Sancta Terra at this concert. In this song although they are both naturally sopranos, Floor took the alto part.

EPICA - A Phantasmic Parade (Official European Principle Tour Aftermovie)
Have seen Epica live in 2017 and since i'm from Russia i won't see this amazing band again for a very long time
Every time I hear this, I cry. This is beyond music. This is a trip. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina
I love your big eyes at the end! astonishing duet and amazing performance thanks for that

This is such an amazing performance by both of these wonderful women, the orchestra, and even the respectful crowd. Loved your reaction. Thank you.
I really love your reactions and your adorable faces haha
I can't go past *any* reaction to this performance. Immediate THUMBS UP!
I would like sometime in my life to hear a quintet sung by Sharon den Adel, Floor Jansen, Zora Cook, Simone Simmons and Anneke van Giersbergen.
If anyone said to me that metal singers can't sing, all they do is yell, grunt, scream etc I would have to educate them by showing this video. I would then ask them to name some pop and rap singers who could do this. Watching them struggle to answer would be such fun.
Fantastic
Very very beautiful reaction thank you
i saw this earlier from rosalie reacts very nice i wanted to see a duet between these two how nice
Check out Charlotte Wessels (ex singer of the band Delain) and Zora Cock (of Blackbriar) with the song Mary on a cross. ❤

Proud to be dutch!! Great reaction. Did you see emma kok? Voila, with the andre rieu band. Mesmerising
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1736)... an Italian composer...❤

You probably saw them together in Sancta Terra, as I had requested that very early on.
My Queen Floor doing her "masshealing" :)

A beautiful song but neither of these ladies are Nordic. The Netherlands is not a Nordic country.
Magic.
To all the popdivas out there See and learn See and learn
Prachtig! Even Floor agrees with Rachel, prachtig means beautiful!
More of Simone and Floor, check out Sweet Curse (Revamp). Unfortunately all versions I know are cell phone recordings.
And no Auto Tune!
Simone and Floor are not only Dutch.
They've also been friends for a long time.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
amazing reactions !! 😛!!
Such an incredibly sad song made so much more poignant by their skilled singing.
Would love to see you react to the band AVATAR and their song Napalm (Live from Ages) OR Let it Burn (Loudwire Exclusive)
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done Ray
Also: it's not operatic, but classical. The hymn predates opera by couple hundred centuries.
