Sorry it went Pear shape with the stove. Been reading the comments about it's failure. So hopefully you can confirm what went wrong First I've ever seen with that much smoke inside. I've subbed ya.
Cracking Ally, shame about the stove, was the flap on the chimney open? You deffo had it rough on this one ffs 😂. Good point made about the rubbish mate, hats off , dirty campers boil my piss. Cheers fella, Atb, Dave
Yeah the flap was open , had a few boys with me that knew about hot stoves and they were scratching their heads also ! And don't get me started on dirty campers 😡 thanks for watching Dave , hope your well bud 👍🏕
Stunning views there mate. And proper funny scaring off those doggers😂 Get a room guys. That's what hotels were invented for😂 Carbon monoxide is the reason I'm hesitant about getting a hot stove. Even with a CM detector I'd be nervous! Love the positivity though Ally. A smoked out tent & soaked through in rain, but you keep on enjoying the camp. Great stuff mate👍
Your not supposed to put a plastic groundsheet under a hot tent stove!!! The stove should ONLY be used on bare ground. Your groundsheet should only cover about half the tent floor area, the bit you sleep on, with the rest left bare. If you see smoke coming from under your stove when it's on bare ground then you need to quickly scrape the soil away underneath, back to bare Earth, as it will be organic matter like roots catching fire from the heat. Also, the front of the stove should always be made slightly lower than the back. It should not be perfectly level or smoke will spill out of the door when you open it, especially if the damper is partially closed. Making the front lower helps to prevent this.
That looks like either your spark arrester is blocked or the damper is not opening properly, Also the chimney sections should be the other way round to stop the creosote running down the outside of the chimney, The creosote usually happens when using softwoods or the flue is damped too much and not heating up properly to burn it off. Hot tenting is great when it works properly lol, I always use a co2 detector just to be on the safe side.
Fire box , half fill with charcoal , and light it , leave door open until lit . Maybe leave door open all the time , add wood and add charcoal . Think firebox on train , uses coal . The door is just to stop spatks from a solid fuel .
Was looking forward to a nice hot tent as well , but you just know with me it would go tits up 😂 feck it all good fun in the end , thanks for watching me old mucker 👍🏕
Jesus Ali, what was going on with the stove? I've only had an issue with the creosote once after I used one of those fire logs with the paper wrap. The creosote is easy to clean out and the stove has been fine since. Doggers! 🤣 Quality mate! 😉
Shame about the stove backfilling the tent with smoke. Cracking location. Can't believe the crap left behind by some, ruining it for others. Good on ya for picking some up. Atvb
And wood from s shop is usually the worst wood you can use . If you get wood for doing a barbeque. Some specialist wood . Youll get a bright flame too .
Awesome views Ally, fuck that hot tent shite though. Rather be alive than smoked 😮 Still, you never know till you try stuff out. We’re also doing the Great Tommy Sleep out. We’re out on the 2nd March, might be 12 of us out for the night. Should be great craic. 😂 Stay well buddy.
I'm not sure what it is , think it's probably something to do with the fact I put 1 of those instant firelogs in at first which wasn't hot enough and caused the creosote to form , but I did have a full burn on after that , I don't know .👍🏕
@johnjock8252 I did pack kiln dried logs in after putting in that instant thing , but yeah thanks for the comments and for watching , much appreciated pal 👍🏕
Hi my 1st hot tenting. I overfilled my stove before I went to sleep. Stove tent filled with smoke. My fault removed some of the wood and Ash all was fine after that. Learned not to over fill stove that night very quickly.

A great spot - the hot tent thing seems too much of a faf for me, think I'll stick with a four season bag and a woolly hat.
Yeah sort of feel the same way , just thought I'd try it , probably won't again 😁 thanks for watching 👍🏕
good vid ally , hopefully get a camp with me and dovecots soon👍🏻
