Dude for 2 years that’s amazing. I just hit my 2 years last week and I don’t think I could do all that myself. I’m actually moving on from my current employer soon to hopefully put myself in a better position to learn the trade and being able to live on my own. This video is inspirational to say the least. Update: I just started my new job as an apprentice commercial carpenter a month ago. This place has classes that teach you the trade, and they’re very committed to keeping their employees happy. I’m working with people closer to my age so it’s a lot easier to communicate, and they take the time out to explain the project to you. Very grateful for where I’m at, and I can thank this video for it. It’s given me the encouragement needed to step out of a toxic work environment, and go somewhere that I’m appreciated.
@@bunnyhillrock10 I went to Vo-tech for 3 years in high school to get a basic understanding of the trade. (They also do adult classes for 1 year) Once I graduated high school, some people from my class went union to get an apprenticeship, and I got started under a non-union general contractor in my area which gave me on the job training. I loved the work, but I knew I couldn’t reach my full potential there so I went looking for another place to work upon being employed with that guy for two years. I know that a lot of contractors look for at least 2 years of experience, so I at least had that under my belt. I then found the company that I work for now and they offer an apprenticeship program which takes 5 years to complete. Now this is how I went about it, but it’s really about word of mouth in this trade or just researching a lot about what programs are offered within certain companies.

"Ughh ur jumping down", me: 😭😭😭💀💀💀
Great music choice my man
Do you know what song played?
Is it weird to wanna be a carpenter as a girl lol love your video
Definitely not. It may be very male dominated but no job is limited to one gender. I’m looking into carpentry as well as a woman.
No way! We need more female representation in every single construction trade, including carpentry.
Noo, go for it!
Absolutely not!!! I start my carpentry apprenticeship in April 😁😁
Edit: turns out I actually start next month 😅😅
Not very common but I do know one lady carpenter. She kicks a lot off ass too!
You don’t use H Clips for sheeting a roof? Lucky.
We use them when we do trusses and we’re on 24 O.C. But for hand cut 16 O.C we’re not required to use them👍
I think this is what i wanna do when im done with school im in 12th grade btw. But i have no clue how to even start takimg this route
You should check out my other videos man! I went in straight out of high school so I have a few videos catering to us young guys👍I highly suggest you give it a shot
CLH please reply. Any reason you use diamondbacks without useing the hammer sleeve?
Yeah so imma need to know what you used to hook your chalk line and where I can get one ?

Thanks man👍hopefully the videos won’t disappoint
I’m looking into going to trade school to do carpentry would you recommend it?
Do carpenters have to go in crawl spaces?
How long did it take you to know everything?
New to the channel, where are y’all doing this framing work at! Lookin forward to more videos!🤙
Thanks for watching! Northwest indiana👍
Is framing the core of carpentry? If not how often do you get to do framing?
You can say it is! However there’s quite a few trades that make our trade valuable. As framers we are responsible for putting up the structure that others build off of. The guys before us are the concrete guys. The guys before them are the excavators. The guys after us make our work look pretty. All a matter of perspective my friend. As a framer I frame 99% of the time!
where are you working from? need a framer?
i wanna be a carpenter but i hardly know the different types i know there is a few different types i wanna work on roofs like your doing in this video but im terrible with messurements so on and spelling haha i was just wondering what type of carpentry is this
I’m in the framing trade, framing carpenter👍 trust me don’t let measurement intimidate you. It’s all super simple to understand. Once you dedicate time into the trade, it’ll come to you🙏Best of luck
@@certifiedladderholder ok thanks and ill try not let it get the best of me haha
I’m 19 went to college for 2 semesters and it was not for me. Do you have any advice for someone interested in this? Where do I even start? To end up/go where!? 😂
nice
Looks good homie, where y’all located?
Northwest Indiana👍
What are the requirements to start in the apprentice carpenter program
There’s a lot of different programs for a lot of different areas. Find yours and research. I guarantee you don’t need to know anything but some basic math and common sense😂 Good luck man🙏
@@certifiedladderholder Gracias amigo 🙏🏼 God bless you 🤝🏼
What's that tool you used to snap the chalk line?
It’s a V-Line clamp www.amazon.com/V-Line-Clamp-Measure-Chalk-Holder/dp/B008L1F4II/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=CLX4DF9NNPSZ&keywords=v+line+clamp&qid=1639651485&sprefix=vline+clamp%2Caps%2C74&sr=8-3
You got to have the radio, ITS A MUST!
10:01 out of curiosity, do you have anything to hold you from falling down? Why would you risk walking like that? 😂
What’s the device you are using to do angles with the chalkline?
It’s called the V- Line Clamp👍www.amazon.com/V-Line-Clamp-Measure-Chalk-Holder/dp/B008L1F4II/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=CLX4DF9NNPSZ&keywords=v+line+clamp&qid=1639651485&sprefix=vline+clamp%2Caps%2C74&sr=8-3
