Thanks Saw Dust Dude!!! I’m a registered Nurse for about 15 years!!! I’m thinking about becoming a Carpenter!!! In fact I have an interview for the Carpenter Apprenticeship next week!!! I’m ready to learn a new Life Skill!!! I am 42 years old making a career change!!! I will be taking a huge pay cut but I truly think the skills that I will learn are gonna be more valuable than money!!!

Wow man, im 31 and just made a similar change to finish carpentry. Most of the people in the company are way younger than me with tons more experience and its been overwhelming my first 2 weeks. Im scared im too old to make this change, but everyone tells me i have time, im going to stick to it and hope for the best! Good luck!

I’m a woman in the trade been doing it about 3 years now. thank you I needed this reminder. Some times my foreman just rips on me and I wanna just quit. But I’m not a quitter and this is construction can’t expect these men to be nicer just cause I’m a woman in the job site. Crazy times man. I really wish I could be in a more woman industry but the only way is student loans and years of school to make any kind of real money or have career fulfillment. So I’m sticking to going to war everyday. Hope to evolve out of rough carpentry in my future here. Step by step day by day.

I came in with no experience and to be honest, it has been hard to deal with all the unnecessary rude comments when I ask so called "stupid questions". No such thing called pedagogy in house carpentry yet it seems. People miss understanding. Maybe it'll get better

I grew up swinging a hammer during the summer helping out dad and his smaller company (like 8-10 people on the grew) started out driving the skid steer at 13 years old picking up trash and eventually pouring concrete and framing walls, haven’t did anything in 4-5 years but I’m 24 now and wanting to get back into it. Of course back then we didn’t follow half is OSHA rules and it was like working back in the 80s lol, the company basically retired from everyone old as dirt and dad became one of the most renown trim guys in southern/central Missouri, even had a gig with Kirkwood Stair which is the #1 stair company in the nation.

I’m a close to 40 year old disabled combat veteran, after I was medically discharged I went to school for 2 years to become a GM automotive technician I did that for a number of years because I have always liked working on cars (until I became a professional that is haha) and I recently started helping a friend of mine who is a carpenter, he doesn’t have much experience teaching people and much like my old man, he doesn’t have a much patience so I try to secretly pick stuff up as I go. I’ll say this, I do a helluva of a lot for a guy making $10/hr haha! Thank you for this video and I hope there are enough young people (30 and under is what I consider young people) who are willing to do manual labor jobs and put in an honest days work, because I look around and I am frightened by what I see from this generation especially in terms of their work ethic or should I say LACK OF A WORK ETHIC!! I’m glad I was raised by baby boomer parents who instilled hard work and dedication in me, served me well during my years in the military and in life in general. Thank you again sir, definitely subscribing to see more!

I have been trying to become a carpenter for about almost two years... I grew up with a dad who was a carpenter and he taught me a lot but then he left my life when I became a teenager and didn't really tell me what I shouldve did. Being that he left, It caused a financial situation and I was forced to Dropout of school and help provide for my mom and two younger brothers.... Life for me cant go back to school cuz the "goin is already tough" and the tough has already been going" It seems like where I live nobody will hire you unless your made from a bag of money. I try to explain to employers my situation but nobody cares and because Im 22 people really look at me like im really in control of my own life and im supposed to have a car and stuff everyone else has... the issue is Most of these apprenticeships want you to have a car with a Drivers License and the tools for the job... some maybe no tools necessary... but a car is a must nowadays and though Im not ready to give up yet, because I dont even have a penny to my name right now... I am stuck feeding my family, paying for my mother and younger siblings to live and Im in dire need of freedom and a change.... I'm only at 22 years old struggling to pay my own bills workin at a home depot.... how in the hell am I supposed to get the job as a carpenter? I cant find a job... for someone like me in my situation... how would you go about it? anyone can answer if theyd like. Seems like nobody wants to give me a chance.

Dude, #1 thanks for stepping up and taking care of your family! Yes, not having a car and no tools does make it tough. Good news, your skills and more importantly, your drive will carry you farther than you can imagine! When you least expect it, someone will see your on potential and doors will open up. Dude, I'm 60 and I've seen it happen many times, just don't give up brother!
