The RGM Watch company of Lancaster County Pennsylvania under Roland G. Murphy still routinely produces guilloche dials on antique rose engines. I've been privileged to witness the process in person on a couple of occasions.

Absolutely stunning piece. Among modern brands, Louis Érard recently did a number of rather affordable hand-guilloched watches as part of their ongoing series celebrating old and endangered watchmaking crafts.

Just to know it was handmade is completely charming and worth more to me. However , things change and we need to also appreciate the makers of software and machines that do the same things just in a different way.

Hand crafted for sure. I'm lucky knowing that Mr Benzinger is working on a dial for a one off watch. Really looking forward to the result. And more guilloche dials might follow. Thanks for this video. Makes the waiting easier. Or harder? Anyway..
    Thanks!

I love textured dials, especially done with Guilloche, but its a thing unfortunately missing on modern watches.

Looking at things like Rose Engines, I can see someone adding CNC to that. The CNC drives control all the handles etc. The operator does things like set the depth, sets up the machine.
This is not a diamond tipped tool being dragged across the service.
Next, and I'm off doing some research. There must be software for designing guilloche patters.
