Turned out beautiful!! Also, you should try mixing them with the luminance- apparently they blend together incredibly well & the colour palette with the luminance makes an incredible range of colours… luminance is lacking some, and Derwent lacks some ( I hope that makes sense!). Also, maybe try different paper- they work differently. Thank you so much! I would love to hear when you do this!
yes i was planning to mix them with luminance! i dont usually stick to a single brand unless i am doing it for a brand review. So no problem for me there 😀 but people getting this brand alone will have difficulties getting a bright primary. apart from the limited range of colors, they are really good and blends beautifully.
they are not as good as caran dache in color laydown too. i feel a bit more sticky or dragging feel when i use lightfast if that makes any sense 😀but most people will not notice at all.
@@ArtFadil thank you so incredibly much :) many people do think they are very similar! Some people like Lightfast more and some people like Lumi more! Its nice to have differences :) your art really is incredible! Thank you so incredibly much for sharing!!
yes. i watched other reviews and swatching of 100 set and still i am not impressed with the color range 😃 also my complaint is that there are no primary colors even in a set of 48 pencils. it should be there even in a set of 12.
@@ArtFadil I agree with you, Amazon has the 100 set of lightfast down €40, so I grabbed it, though not sure I’ll keep it. The 72 might be enough for my use and especially after your video.
Did you mention how man pencils came in this set? I have the set of 100, with lots of blues (not sure if there's a primary). I'm very pleased with the color range ONLY because I wanted non-primary, more muted tones to augment the 120 set of Polychromos I have. So I agree, if this is going to be someone's only set of pencils, the Luminance or Polychromos have a better color range.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I have been looking and looking at the 36 piece set and thinking that it might be a good wildlife set but not really useful for anything else because of the colour range. I have the 12 pc set of Lightfast and I really enjoy using them but I may just buy more Polychromos because there doesn't seem to be a great range of colours in Lightfast.
Very interesting honest review about this set, very interesting! Edit: Luminance is indeed premium and lightfast, but Polychromos might be the overall better choice..
thank u. i dont know which luminace you are talking about. i mentioned caran dache luminance which is one of most expensive and most lightfast pencils out there.
I agree with you. I was looking at Derwent lightfast pencil sets today and some of their sets contain an odd combination of pencils. I have small sets of FC polychromos, CD luminance, CD Pablo, and prismacolor. I do not have complete sets of any of those brands and each set was well curated and could stand alone. Although I know colors can be mixed I do appreciate sets containing orange, purple and pink. However, due to your skills you made this set shine! The portrait was amazing!
Thank you for this review. I have the set of 36 and was surprised, in a negative way, that there were no blues, apart from a light one. How could one draw or paint a landscape with that set! So it's the same problem as you have. Though, this set is actually a very good addition to my full 120 set of Polychromos. The Polychromos has all the vibrant blues, greens and oranges my Lightfast set lacks. At the same time, Polychromos doesn't have as vast a range of darks, or even lights. My absolute favorites of the Lightfast set of 36 are Arctic, Oyster and Midnight black - two almost whites, and the blackest black you could ever wish for!
Appreciate this review, I've been lusting after them for awhile but realize its a "want" not a "need." I mostly color in books ☺️ Your portrait is beautiful! One question - you started your swatches on the right side. Is your language written right to left? I wish English was as I'm left handed 😁
I like to have some bright colors in my palette. so this is more of a personal choice. this set is absolutely amazing for portraits though. I usually combine different brands for a single drawing anyway. so this will be a great addition to my caran dache collection. i started swatching from right side because i was planning to place that side on top when placing inside the box 😀😀 the pencils were in that order inside the box 😁 my language is written from left to right like most languages in India 😊
@@ArtFadil Thank you for you reply. I'm glad you will find the new pencils a good addition. They are gorgeous and so nicely packaged. You mentioned they fit your electric sharpener and keep their points well. Excellent qualities in a pencil. I've been a follower for so many years that I can't remember how long. I hope your channel continues to grow!
@@KlingonPrincess aw! Thank you so much for the support! I was not able to upload anything for the past 3 or 4 years though. I am planning to upload regularly from now on. Bro good work but 1/4th of the price? Like for 2000₹? It would be good for us if you call out the price than say 1/4th. According to price history which is really accurate with my experience the lowest ever for this set on Amazondotin was ₹4175 on July 13, 2023.

I would get the Lightfast 100 set and compare, not just the set you have. That would be a more fair comparison to Luminance. Keep creating 💛💜💙

Bought a set of 48 last year just bought a set of 100 last month nice pencils use with Faber castell and Carand'Ache pencils.

yes their blacks are amazing. and they are great to use as an additional set to polychromos or luminance.

Prismacolors are lightfast? News to me, sorry.
some colors of prismacolor pencils are lightfast. not all of them obviously. there is a color chart mentioning the lightfastness.
Why are you uploading so few videos to your channel lately? This is really a BIG LOSS for every single viewer and the entire art UA-cam scene
